Location; Views; Proximity to train station; Pool; Service.
We booked a twin room. It was lovely with balcony and lake view. However, the furniture could have been better configured to suit usage as a twin room.
The location - an easy walk into Stresa, the cleanliness, the comfortable bed, the helpful staff, the great pool area
The limits on wifi access. Also, the lack of breakfast choice - a continental breakfast choice should be an option.
The pool,the proximity to everything.
Staff not as helpful as I would have hoped when I was having trouble accessing money for payment to you from my bank. Having to pay for wifi. Tiny towels in bathroom.
The pool and also, the pool but really, only the pool Breakfast buffet is OK
Poor sound proofing (could hear the carts from/to the cuisine in the yard, people talking in the doorway), expensive wireless, ridiculous tv, staff not trained to a 4* hotel standards, too much plastic in the bathroom...
We were looking for a nice hotel with a relaxing pool and nice view with an easy location to the main center of Stresa. This hotel filled all of the requirements and everything was nice. We even booked a mountain view room and were able to have a room on the side of the hotel which gave us both a mountain and lake view from our balcony. The hotel is in a quiet area away from the noise of the town center, but was only a 5 minute walk along the lake to the center, so a very good location.
The hotel offers a breakfast buffet at an extra cost, the food was not worth the price. Although the terrace atmosphere overlooking the lake was nice, the second morning we bought pastries from a local shop and enjoyed them on our room balcony in the morning. Overall I would not consider this to be a detractor to the hotel as a simple solution can be found.
Evey thing was great
the staff is on a very high level, total client service orientation. excellent swimming pool facilities
A classically styled Hotel in a nice location with an easy 10 minute stroll to the centre, lovely pool and garden area, if you like a modern Hotel the Bristol is not for you as it is packed with chandeliers and old furniture which adds to the charm. We had a room with a fantastic view of the lake, not particularly large, but this is what you will get with a Hotel of this age, but it was perfectly adequate and vey clean, the maids were very efficient in cleaning the room. The hotel is also a short walk from the station, for those travelling by train, and the cable car if you wish to travel up to the Mottarone, which is well worth the effort.
Breakfast way too pricey, much better to stroll into town to one of the pavement cafes, wi-fi should be free, restaurant lacking in character so didn't use, plenty of nice places to choose from in town. There was a singer in the bar on Tuesday night, we felt the hotel would benefit from some more entertainment as the bar is very quiet at night
The hotel is beautiful, the po is great and bed was comfy. The shower was great lots of hot water and air con worked well . Some people say it's a long walk to town but I think it's fine if you are a fit and able person,
Balcony was a on the small size to sit at with the table. Breakfast was not included in our booking and at €20 each a day we thought it expensive. However walkkng into town each day to a lovely local cafe was fab and felt more Italian and much less expensive.
Nice pool and rooms. Beautiful building. Beautiful views, nice and quiet, unless you have a mountain view room, then you hear staff preparing in the back. Very clean and good housekeeping.
Staff cold, no free wifi, no complimentary breakfast. To expensive compared to other hotels nearby.
Front desk staff particular Vera Indoor pool wonderful staff very friendly
Beds too hard
1, Paying for parking. 2. Free WiFI system just to complicated, just make it free like the coffee bar across the road.
Fantastic view of the lake. Hotel setting and great outdoor pool. Indoor pool now upgraded. Balcony and blackout shutters on windows. Pool and pool bar staff helpful and friendly.
Bathroom towels are very tired, in fact pool towels are better quality! Rooms not serviced until mid-afternoon. Breakfast very expensive. Only 2 hours free WiFi for 1 of us for 7 night stay. Poor quality dated piano player/singer.
Our room was in a back building connected by a tunnel and an "elevator" that moves sideways, not up. Quite a novelty for the kids, who were reminded of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. Also close to the ferry to Isola Bella and the promenade on the lake.
We were only given two cards for towels at the pool.
Lovely pool, great location,
25 € for breakfast!! Although great cafes across the road!!
Fantastic location, parking, huge indoor pool heated to 30 degrees, good breakfast. Pretty gardens with views. Lovely side view of lake from rooms.
Senior male receptionist abrupt and cold manner, did not ask why we left a day early. Booking.com rooms are in an annex which is completely away from the main hotel accessed by a horizontal lift?? or a long tunnel. Rooms very outdated with green bedding etc Rooms smell so damp bought air fresheners but did not hide smell. Reported leaking broken towel radiator in childrens room but not mended in 4 days there.
Nice area, pools outside and inside
I would not expect to be charged for: - baby bad not in good shape 16 euro per night - 10 euro per day for internet in the room 200 kbps speed-slow - we booked for 3 nights but we had to leave after 1 night, in hotel they told us we have to pay for 2 nights second as penalty and for 3 rd night too but they will give us this night as a vocuher to use in future. The problem is that on the voucher is written that we have to stay there at least 2 nights to have right to redeem this one night....the excuse to do it was becouse we book the hotel via booking.com
The location is great and the style of building is very special. Very well renovated and great pools.
Check-in was rushed, uninformative and not welcoming at all, same for the checkout procedure. BEWARE they will not make any reference to the paid breakfast buffet @ €16pppn either at checkin or when you go for breakfast and the free option is not clearly explained at all.
I liked the view from the balcony the grounds swimming pools inside and out staff were very attentive room was very good plenty of sun beds every day and hotel quiet which was important to us
Thought breakfast was too expensive
Fabulous view from our lake facing room. Although a little on the small side, well appointed rooms. Relaxing pool & outdoor area. Quiet, despite being road facing.
Wifi usage was not included in the room rate despite the room cost being on the high end. No non smoking area around the pool...not great breathing in everybody's fumes when you are trying relax the such stunning surroundings.
Location, views and room were superb. The bellboy was delightfully friendly
The welcome which we received at the reception left much to be desired. No explanations were given and we were left to discover everything the hotel had to offer alone. WIFI is not included-hello? this is a 4 **** hotel-the prices are a rip-off and it's scandalous that a hotel of this category does not include this for its guests. The fact that a free 120 minutes is offered only after 4 hours after check-in and then only on completion of a questionnaire is almost insulting! The chamber maids shout to each other from room to room at 8 in the morning waking all and sundry in the process-not what I expect from a top class hotel!!
Staff are not very helpful. A very bad internet service and a very bad espresso. How can you make a bad espresso in Italy? This reflects on most of the other services provided by the hotel.
Service from the bar staff was great. Location was great. Facilities are good, especially the sauna's and indoor pool. Cocktails. Price is quite reasonable.
we had a room on the first floor and could hear everyone flushing their toilet and having showers from 0630 every morning. There were between 15 and 25 flushes each morning before 8am! The wooden floors amplified every sound. Chairs being dragged across the floors were the worst - please put little pads at the bottom of the indoor and outdoor chairs to avoid this noise. Cleaners starting cleaning rooms very early and making a lot of noise. Grumpy reception staff - we spent £2200 at this hotel and not even a smile or a thank you from the reception staff, they just stuffed my receipt in an envelope and that was it. Outdoor pool quite cold.
They gave us a great room on a high floor with stunning view of the islands. Pool was super and the location can't be beat.
11:00 check-out a bit early. They do alow you to use the pool until later though.
Friendliness of staff Cost:value ratio Ambience
Weather....but Bristol could not control that!!!
