The view and the friendly staff The design of the hotel was wonderful and the attempt at using less electricity with a card system and that the air conditioning went off when you opened the balcony door was impressive. The ride up the hill at hourly intervals was great after a long day The swimming pool was fantastic

beautiful property, nice towels and bathrooms, great pool area. very clean too. the hands on female manager was excellent. rest of the staff was ok.

very slow, painfully slow and inefficient wifi service. we went through many log in codes. the process was cumbersome and for 5 star this just doesn't cut it. some of the front desk crew could be a little more friendly and helpful. and the non-heated pool was a bummer too. again, a 5-star should have a heated pool. for the price this hotel charges its a little loose around the edges on the details.

Parking is 25 euro for 24 hours. But then you use it only for half a day they charge also 25 euro. We called to hotel in previous to know when opens the swimpool. The stuff sad "surely at the end of march" - we were in the hotel at the 1 april - and the swimpool was closed. Spa zone is too small and has nothing special. Poor breakfast for this price - no fresh mozarella, no choice of fish dishes and etc.

Excellent location a 5- 10 minute walk into Amalfi. Wonderful views , beautiful pool and bedrooms with superb views. Breakfast on the terrace was a lovely way to start the day.

Wife and I enjoyed our stay. Plan to return in the future and hope to have a truly 5 star experience.

No complimentary breakfast for travelers. Had a service issue which was handled in a huried fashion. Shower floods due to bad design.

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi for a week in August and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment we spent in the hotel and around the local area. Firstly, and contrary to the view of some other reviewers here, the hotel is situated in quite a breathtaking position in the cliffs above Amalfi. There is a lift up to the hotel rooms from the main entrance and it is 5 minute stroll into Amalfi town centre. If you don’t want to walk the hotel also runs a shuttle into the town centre, which leaves every hour. Being up in the cliffs gives you a wonderful sense of being slightly removed from the hustle and bustle below, but also in the knowledge that you are only a short walk from it all. We were very lucky with our room as we were right at the far end of the hotel, which meant that we only had one room next to us and so more windows than most. Waking up in the morning and looking out on to bright sunshine, fantastic views and the picturesque town of Amalfi below was one of the real highlights of our stay. In addition, we had a window looking the other way up the coast towards Praiano and also a window in the bathroom, which was lovely. Breakfast on the terrace was spectacular with this view below us and lemon groves off to the left. There was also a great selection at breakfast - pastries, fresh bread, yoghurt, fresh fruit, juice, champagne, bruschetta, eggs, cakes etc. Another highlight is the infinity pool which is not one of those big resort-type pools crowded with sunbathers, it is fairly small and simple but when you take a dip you instantaneously gravitate toward the pool edge and gaze at the view - truly one of life’s stop-and-contemplate moments. The staff at the hotel were very warm, welcoming and attentive and also humoured our poor attempts at Italian and helped us to improve (slightly). The hotel can also organise various excursions for you and help you with local knowledge etc.

The atmosphere was serene - it was so relaxing and peaceful but with the town on its doorstep for fantastic food and entertainment. A trip to the beach by boat was glorious and all the staff were amazing!

This was the most wonderful honeymoon destination! The hotel design, friendliness of staff, stunning breakfasts, the views from the hotel, the gorgeous swimming pool, excellent attention to detail (I could go on) all made this hotel the most perfect destination. I would recommend this hotel without reservation!

It is a 5* Hotel, so expect high prices - but it certainly is worth every penny.

love the swimming pool. very good breakfast and the view. they provided coupons for wifi in the room. so basically free. they have offsite beach with boat ticket, towel and sun bed.

Excellent Service and fabulous location with stunning views of the amalfi coast. Breakfast was excellent and staff were well informed of the area and good recommnedations for dining/things to do.

Aircon in the room did not work all the time and so either too cold or too hot. Pity they charged for internet access whereas most luxury hotels nowerdays provide this for free.

The view is incredible and the staff was amazing, helpful, and so nice. The hotel is everything you could hope for. I think the price was correct, although we were upgraded so I can't speak to the value on the standard rooms. Appreciated very much being upgraded for our anniversary.

Restaurant and room service could use some improvement. Food is average and quite expensive. Food options all day and late night are very limited. Although I am quite aware that I am particularly difficult to please in this area.

I love the style and comfort of the hotel. The view from our room was amazing and beautiful. The unique architecture and history of the hotel made it memorable and special for this first visit to Amalfi.

When we arrived by car there was no place to park.....would advise visitors to skip the car and take a bus from airport. Hotel mgmt should ensure that there is always a spot for guests to pull in off the very hazardous and busy, narrow coastal road! And a suggestion-- there should be a espresso machine or coffee available to guests that awaken before the 7:30 restaurant opening.

The staff were so welcoming, which added to the atmosphere of the hotel itself, it was lovely, the rooms, the large open common areas, the spectacular views, and, of course the remaining walls of the old convent...... Just beautiful.

The staff were superb and helpful in every way. The location and view would be hard to better. Our room was exceptional with a glorious view. I gave the hotel 9/10 for one reason only, it should be 10/10 but the management have seriously let themselves down (see below).

If you pay around 600 euros a night you expect some luxury, comfort and service, which we most certainly got. However charging between 4 or 6 euros (I can't remember exactly) for a small bottle of water from the mini bar in the room is beyond the pale and smacks of extreme greed and profiteering, a case of water a day could easily be provided for a tiny fraction of the daily room rate. This is a very hot place and drinking plenty of water is a basic human need. The management should hang their heads in shame, I am still in shock over this matter, I hope that someone will seriously consider this matter!! Please make sure the management/owners are informed

From the moment we arrived we felt at home in a small slice of paraside. The service was impeccable. The view from the terrace was absolutely breathtaking, and the decor is lovely. Well done to all at il Gran Convento for making our honeymoon a delight.

The rooms can get a musty smell during the day.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the General Manager made a point to meet every guest. The hotel is a 13th century monastery and is extremely luxurious and romantic! Beautiful views of Amalfi.

Die Lage oberhalb von Amalfi und der Ausblick waren sehr schön. Amalfi war in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Der Auto-Park Service klappt reibungslos.Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Die Zimmer waren sehr klein, es war kein Schrank sondern lediglich eine Kleiderstange hinter einem Vorhand vorhanden. Im Bad hatte nur eine Person Platz. Das Frühstück war fürchterlich mager (Eine Sorte Brötchen, eine sorte Brot, nur Marmelade in kleinen Gläschen. Nur 1 Sorte Scheibenkäse kein Wurst, kein Schinken. Das ist selbst in 2 Sterne Motels deutlich reichhaltiger. Bei der Preisstellung des Hotels inklusive Frühstück empfanden wir es als frech, dass selbstverständliche Dinge wie Rührei o.Ä mit weit über 10€ aufpreispflichtige Leistungen waren.

La vue, le site magnifique, les jardins terrasse, les citronniers...la décoration contemporaine décaler.

Notre chambre et celle de nos enfants soit disant avec vue mer , nous avions vue surtout sur le toit de la maison de devant et nos enfants devaient monter sur une chaise pour voir la mer...je n'appelle pas ça une vue mer! L'eau de la douche qui passe du froid a chaud sans arrêt....insupportable. Les toasts proposés a la carte du bar pour l'apéritif 6 tranches de pain de mie avec un pauvre bout de jambon industriel a l'intérieur, une honte pour un restaurant qui se veut gastronomique. Globalement très déçu de la prestation et du service pour un hotel qui pratique des prix chers( chambre a 400€ minimun sans la vue mer...)Dommage l'endroit est si beau.
