On a clifftop, the luxury 4-star Grand Hotel Royal is in central Sorrento.
Score from 254 reviews Wonderful
Palazzo Guardati is one of the oldest noble buildings in Sorrento. Just 22 yards from central Piazza Tasso, the hotel offers views of the harbor and the Bay of Naples.
Score from 175 reviews Very good
Hotel Corallo has a cliff-top setting in Sant'Agnello on the Sorrento bay. Surrounded by gardens and lemon groves, it offers large sun terraces overlooking the Bay of Naples in the distance.
Score from 135 reviews Excellent
The sea view balcony. The breakfast and the design of the room. Close the the marina to take ferry to Capri. The service was good.
There are actually two buildings to this hotel. The main one which is Luxury and the second one which is more like a 3 star hotel. SMALLEST SHOWER EVER. It was hard to take a shower since it was so small. So if you book for the lower rate (which is still high) you will probably get that room. Check before you book!

food and service
The attention to details was not there. Be it on the services/amenities side or interiors side. There was no ironing board and iron in the room like most 4 and 5 star hotels do nowadays. And the housekeeping pressing service was expensive and only available until 5 pm! As for interiors, the hotel rooms can use a few modern touches such as having rugs on the cold ceramic floors! Update the colors and perhaps a few decoration items too..The room just felt a bit shabby and dated.
Location is excellent. Room was spacious. Views are lovely. Reception staff very helpful. Terrace dining is perfect. Beach area very clean. Towels in bedrooms replaced every day and extra towels every night.
Reception area is dark. Poor choice at breakfast. Salads at dinner very unexciting. Restaurant staff not very friendly- made no effort to get to know us and we stayed 6 nights. No privacy in our room as we were on the ground floor and had to keep curtains and shutters closed. Not a city view room- we were looking at a high wall. No tea or coffee pot- ridiculous having to go back to make second cup of coffee. Tinned fruit for breakfast and horrible orange juice. People from outside of hotel coming in for sunset and spoiling it every night by standing in front of us- even though the two terrace waiters tried very hard to get rid of them, this is the greatest reason why I would question my choice of hotel again.
We spent the last night of our honeymoon here. It is a lovely hotel with gorgeous views! I wish we could have stayed longer.
Staff were very helpful, hotel is well located close to the square, outside bar has a great view over the coasts
Bugs in the bathroom and also when I opened my sheets at night. Returned home to bites on legs. It was too late to complain or be moved as it was 2am and I was up at 6
The best hotel I have ever been. Location is perfect, in front of Circumvesuviana station and near the port and piazza Tasso. Staff is really attentive and the service is perfect. Perfect place to spend the vacation.
The location was fantastic with views of Vesuvius from our room. Delicious breakfast with great choices, especially the warm sweet croissants with lemon marmalade - yummy. Staff are very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Sea view, own beach, breakfast room, massage
Parking close to reception, beach and pool open only till 19:00
-Proximity to Sita bus, the train station and the downtown -Good views
-analog TV that didn't work during the world cup -lazy bell man -average breakfast -tiniest bathroom in the world -poor cot and bed quality -heavy keys -very pricy for a crapy place
Loved the location, less than 5 mins walking distance from the train station. The views were fantastic - of the ocean, Mt. Vesuvias! our girls loved swimming in the pool & the ocean! the breakfast was great! The staff was very friendly & helpful. Walking distance to all piazzas & restaurant. We'll definitely come back here again!
We went to Sorrento for my wife's 40th birthday. First impression and as we arrived after midnight were not good as the whole place was locked up but the night porter let us in and showed us to room. Room was large and very old fashioned with a very long thin en-suite bathroom but clean and air conditioned. The next morning we found out just how good this place is! Views-fantastic, food excellent, the lift down to the sea and long tunnel through the rock-amazing! The wooden jetty where the sun beds are located have a great view of the harbor and the fantastic boats. Overall fantastic hotel, great location and would recommend to anyone!
We weren't leaving for the airport until 5.30pm and spent the day sun-bathing. Unfortunately there was no room available for a shower so we had to clean up in the wash basin in the toilets! To be fair there was a wedding reception at the hotel that day and all of the rooms were booked but they should have a shower facility within the hotel for this purpose!
Incredible view, and private beach. Very nice breakfast. Very beautiful hotel. Great location.
We stayed in another building, that is far worse than the main one. Was ok, but a little bit disappointing.
Location, view from the terrace, service aand Pavel, waiter at the terrace also was very nice Sweet swimming pool and
The place was so convenient to everything, it was spectacular in every room , even in the annex. The breakfast is fit for a king. I was blown away by our 1 day stop here. Spectacular pool and sun deck and such a great memory on my honeymoon.
The staff were fantastic.
Having to pay for swim hats, we paid a lot of money to be in a sea view suite. Would be nice to have had freshly squeezed juices at breakfast. Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities in the room would be good, in view of the cost this should be included.
Awesome hotel with great staff
We were upgraded to 506. Beautiful room and view. Breakfast was great!
Our first room was on street and noisy.
Beautiful and elegant! Very friendly staff with the best views and the best location in Sorrento! Restaurant was great too! We will return!
beautiful hotel in a great location
rooms need to be updated and ours needed a good cleaning...bathrooms fixtures were cleaned but moldings were very dirty and floors were not cleaned very well
Good location close to public transport and town centre. Excellent views across the Bay of Naples. Clean and comfortable.
Hotel was expensive. Rooms were a bit noisy, we could hear people talking in the adjoining rooms and corridors. Pool was cold as it was in the shade for most of the day.
location, seaside with a small beach. 2 minute walk from piazza :)
It's a beautiful older hotel with charm but needs some restoration. The shuttered windows kept blowing wide opened one night while there was a heavy storm system. Lots of water came into our room :( And the plumbing is pretty noisy when used !
The hotel staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. They helped guide us on making many travel-related plans. They recommended a personal driver/guide for a day long tour of the Amalfi Coast named Giacomo, who was very personable and a pleasure to be with. They arranged for an interpreter to be with one of our traveling party for a day long event with a relative from Italy who spoke no English. They also assisted us in making travel plans from Sorrento to Rome. Advising us on public transportation costs and times vs. private companies. Ultimately arranging a private car service from door to door for a little more money.
suites were very large and well furnished with frequent towel and linen changes. location on cliff top with terraces close to bus and train station also restaurants and shopping.
cost of dinner in hotel did not reflect fairly mediocre quality
