This hotel is one of the best hotels I have stayed in ,the staff were very helpful-nothing was too much trouble ,the rooom was always cleaned to a high standard and the food was excellent. The view from our room was spectacular and the private road to the local village was delightful. The hotel shuttle bus was easy to book and we always managed to get a slot to suit us. We had a lovely holiday and would go back again.

It was a great hotel, it's a perfect place to spent new year's eve, the view is amazing and the staff is really great, very attencious. It's has a place to park your car, and that helps a lot if you are with you car in this region of italy. Very comfortable and breakfast is good (for italian standards). It's a little hard to reach the hotel crossing the small cities due to heavy traffic (we were there in new year's eve), although after asking the staff they told us an alternative way. The tv in the bedroom could be a little bigger, and WiFi could be free.

Classic older hotel with a lot of great character. Most of the staff were really nice. Fabulous view of Sorrento and the bay. One manager wasn't as helpful as we would have expected after being robbed (pickpocketed in Naples) on our way to the hotel, but the other staff were all very nice and helpful and sympathetic.

The staff was very helpful at all times. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The best part was the view from our room. We booked three rooms for our friends and wanted to have each couple pay for their own room but we had to put all three rooms on our credit card.

Service and attention to detail from staff were second to none. They made our stay wonderful and were always ready and willing to go the extra mile to help with comfort and any enquiries or questions we had. Nothing was too much trouble ever, and their attentiveness was impeccable. Location was beautiful (with fabulous views and access to local village). The hotel shuttle service was a bonus. All facilities first class. Will go back and highly recommend to any travellers we know. Our entire family (children, parents and grandparents) were delighted with the accomodation, service and staff at Grand Hotel Hermitage Sorrento.

Friendlieness and helpfulness of the Hotel Staff. Location. Views from pool area and our balcony. Even when hotel was full it didn't feel crowded and everything was still available and accessible. Free shuttle bus into Sorrento and return. Ease and beauty of walk into St Agata town plus the amenties available there. Shuttle bus timings back to hotel in the evening were too early for us on occasion at 23:30, didn't like the restriction this placed on us, when we fancied staying out - plus the taxi ride back from Sorrento was exhorbitant and prohibitive at €45 one way! Also there were 2 drivers who shared the duties (both of whom were very efficient, polite & helpful); but when one was on day off the service became restricted; the hotel should have someone available to cover days off and holidays, so that this ceases to be an issue.

Fabulous view (room with seaview), beautiful, peaceful, picturesque location. Hotel was outside of Sorrento, however, shuttle bus was provided and a very pleasant 5 minute walk to village of Sant Agata. Good sized, comfortable rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Good coffee! A more frequent shuttle bus service would have been helpful.

I chose a room with sea view, large balcony and inviting appearance was gorgeous and relaxing. Proximity and accessibility to the village santa agata Hotel staff was charming and accessible amazing. The hotel is located close to Sorrento and transfers from the hotel saved driving and parking in Sorrento. We Recommend a guided tour of the island of Capri with hotel registration. Tv room is too small. Vegetable missing breakfast menu.

The sea view was absolutely amazing. Hotel staff, comfort of the rooms and proximity to restaurants were all highlights. It would be great if the pool was open later into the evening. The shuttle and bus rides down to Sorrento may cause some motion sickness (a little gravol goes a long way!).

Rooms were spacious and spotless. Clean and well maintained pool, with adequate sunbeds and shade and sun available nearly all day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of lounge and bar space. The breakfast choice was vast and all fresh and lovely. The location was great, as the hotel is away from the traffic and noise of Sorrento centre, but the shuttle bus can take you there easily if you want the bustle of the town. Otherwise a 5-10 minute shady walk takes you to Sant'Agata, which is a lovely little Italian town, withthe best restaurant of our entire Italian holiday - Mimi! I would have appreciated free wiFi and a couple of the larger trees near the pool could be cut back to give an extra hour or two of sunshine at the end of the day.

We loved everything about this hotel. The location, the room, the pool, the views . The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. When arrived, early evening quite late and tired from a long drive, we were greated by a lovely friendly man who was so helpful. Due to previous reviews we had read we asked for a room on a high floor with a view of the bay of Naples. Wow! What a view. The balcony was very large and very private. The room was kept lovely and clean. There is a village just a short stroll along a path at the back of the hotel where some nice places to eat can be found and a few other shops. This was easier and more peaceful than going down into Sorrento however the hotel does run an efficient free shuttle bus, although places and time slots are limited. We had a spot of trouble with our hire car and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful in helping us sort it out. Thankyou for your help. We would love to come back and stay longer.

Excellent location and fantastic views . Distance from Sorrento Town not a problem as shuttle service quite efficient ( about 15 minutes ) . Pool area , terraces , bar and lounge areas spacious and comfortable . Staff friendly and helpful and plenty of them . Rooms cleaned every day . Breakfast good and evening a-la-carte varied and reasonably priced . Nearby village St . Agata ( 8/10 mins . walk ) very nice with bars and restaurants . La Stuzzichinos definitely worth a try ( we ate here three nights .) . Overall a very enjoyable stay. Bed was somewhat hard and not very comfortable

It was quite nice, with a flair of a grand hotel. But it lacked all sorts of little details to make it one. The Reception Staff were very friendly and really helpfull. The view from the terrace and pool are very nice. Eating in the hotel restaurant makes you feel like having a bad meal in a little sidestreet in Blackpool. Although advertised as italian and having local specialities the menu had nothing italian about it at all. The service at the restaurant was quite poor and even though Sorrento is located at the Sea there was no fresh fish on the menu. Even something as simple as dessert, (which was arranged nicely in a cart) was completely inedible. In many years of travelling in italy, I have never had a worst dinner before.

We have stayed in ghh for 6 nights in late June 2011, but that was an amazing holiday. All the Staff was so helpful (thank you William,Gloria,Marco,Antoinette &others),bus&ferry timetables, useful advices for traveling with a car and other things.Hotel is located in a wonderful place-views over Naples bay,Vesuvius and Sorrento(terrific both at night and day, from terrace or a balcony overlooking pool area and bay,but we stayed in a cheaper classic room overlooking hills and trees and it was also very big, clean and comfortable),it is a very quiet, calm area, very relaxing to stay near the pool and just 5min walk trough hotels private pathway to Sant'Agata, also illuminated at night( Ristorante lo Stuzzichino a superb place in the village- cheap and delicious,we highly recommend it) and 15-20min by sita bus to Sorrento centre or 1,5 h to Amalfi (bus stop in front of the hotel, easy to go anywhere on the coast with a bus).Breakfast was typical for Italy, but enough for us and we could sit outside enjoying the views. Live Music and dancing every Friday night, with a Gala dinner. We ate at the hotel once, a la carte or special menu, liked very much and prices were just a bit higher than in a village, but prefer more tavernas in typical italian style. Wonderful pool- very clean and a nice solarium with enough place for everyone. In the room there were also 2 pool towels(changed every day). We liked everything about the hotel, but here is some useful information. The Hotel has a private shuttle bus service, but it is available only on certain time and we didn't use it as we needed it at different time, so it was not very convenient for us, but a lot of people used it, but you have to write in your name in advance on the reception if you want to use this service. It starts from 9.00 (we couldn't made to a ferry to Ischia, so we used a public transport), last bus in the afternoon was at 12.00 and then again in the evening some 4 times( last ones from Sorrento at 20.45 and 23.30). We stayed in a classic room, liked everything, but my advice- book better with a sea view, it is worth paying, the view is amazing!!! As I understood, the hotel charges the whole sum for a your stay 1 day before arrival from the credit card information from booking.com, so you have to be ready for that.

The hotel is outstanding in almost every way. It has beautiful. classic style decor; a wonderful view of the Sorrento coast; an excellent restaurant with wonderful buffet breakfasts and reasonably priced dinners. It also has many amenities and a beautiful outdoor area. It's location is 20 minutes by bus or free hotel shuttle to Sorrento; but an easy walk to Sant Agata--a charming little town at the top of the hill. Two complaints. 1-They gave you ridiculously small amounts of essentials like soap: example, we got 2 tiny cheap plastic glasses for our entire 6 night stay. In addition, during a 2-day rainy period we were cold in our room because they never turned on the heating system tho temps were very chilly.

Location , away from town centre, views, quiet spot for a relaxing break, but close enough to go into Serrento & also to go on trips. The pool is a lovely area & also for breakfast. Beautiful view as high up in mountains9hills). Could also be good place to go with a few people if wanting a private party. Staff all lovely. Value for money. Food was all fine & better breakfast than most places. It is 9ks outside Sorrento, that takes about 1 hour walking. Plus you take your life in your hands to walk it!!! Shuttle service @ set times, about 4 times daily, not always available, depending on staff situation. Last bus 11.30pm. Taxis then range from 30euro upwards. To be collected on arrival by shuttle service, from train or bus, one needs to have made definate arrangements with the hotel & keep tel ph no on hand, if trains late etc.. otherwise it will be taxi. There is a local bus service past hotel which is good.last bus 11pm. Bathroom: need more towels, shampoos etc..
