We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace. Spacious room. Handy for ferries and restaurants.

Air con not very effective in our room.

Location was superb. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

No disabled facilities. Thought it a bit pricey and we would have liked a less gourmet menu as we don't always want to sit down and eat formally.

bathrooms in superior room have only hand held shower head located in bath.unsafe and impractical especially for the more mature guest.

Beautiful old building that has been maintained. Lovely rooms and marble bathrooms. There is beach access across the street and it is walking distance (4k or about 2 1/2 miles from Portofino, which we did.) There is also a lovely pool but the weather was too chilly for swimming.

Having breakfast included would have been nice. It was expensive, but we felt pampered.

The weather,4days of torrential rain[which is nobody,s fault!!]I would say really only a 3star.Did not enjoy a coachload of elderly English visitors

Only the porters and breakfast attendant. My kid enjoyed the heated pool.

I was very disappointed that our room (room 409) was placed in the attic with small windows, which is contrary to the pictures shown in the booking.com. Should the hotel considers the attic room equivalent to standard room, they should have let as known in advance and not to surprise us when we check-in. As for the room, it is small, old and dump. Room fridge not functional. Breakfast not up to standard. The manager team not as attendant unlike the porters and the breakfast attendant who were very helpful. Admittedly, because of them had made my stay more worthwhile. Hard to believe it's 4-star hotel. Would definitely not going back there nor stay at their chain.

The location directly by the lake, swimming pool and sunning/ relaxation area directly infront of the lake. Room was big and the view fantastic, we even got an upgrade to a superior twin bed room which was great

Breakfast was very poor and coffee wasn't for drinking and this in italy ?! the covers of the bed are not european style and looked very old overall the hotel needs a redesign to make it more modern

GHM has a restaurant. The restaurant is supposed to open at the same time that the hotel opens. When I booked I was not informed that the restaurant would not be opened until a week later. If I would have known this fact I would have booked a different hotel. I expect some money back for this inconvenience. Rod Vignola

Heated swimming pool, great location, lake view room with a balcony was great, well presented room

Old fashioned decor and old fashioned service not to everyone's taste, hotel seemed to cater more for bus trips than independent travellers.

Beautiful view and beautiful location (although a car is needed to visit Carlotta gardens), nice and spacey suite, free parking, some very friendly staff in most cases.

Some staff not friendly at all (restaurant + 1 receptionist), a bit expensive.

Most of the staff are truly helpful and very organized. I was given an upgrade to a room with a beautiful lake balcony.

The beds were the most difficult. The mattress is very firm, to the point of being uncomfortable. The pillows were very hard as well.. The bathroom was very clean but very tiny..

Reception staff not very welcoming. Key card to room did not work, Shower was not very good. Sound on television didn't work properly. Cold coffee tax Breakfast. The general impression was of of being quite old fashioned. I know That the hotel has to be in keeping with its origins, but the general impression Was of being behind the time

Loved everything except the terrible bed and very noisy aircon! Magnificent location!

Very poor mattress quality, noisy loud aircon really compromised both our sleeps.

Fantastic setting, close to town and ferries. Excellent facilities and very friendly staff.

Only thing, the rooms are in need of an update, looking a little tired!!!!

- Location : perfect, close to boat decks, you don't need the car to travel. 5 minutes walking from the village - View : on the lake and Varenna, very beautiful - Breakfast: Good and you can have it outside with view on the lake - Parking: Small free parking in front of the hotel - Wireless: free - Swimming pool: good and clean

- Staff: Not so friendly - Room: Very small and with too small bathroom for a 4 stars hotel... you have to jump above the WC to enter the shower... No bath. Basic room with view on the parking, expensive rate... - Value for money: could be better mainly due to the room quality and staff friendliness - Swimming pool: a pity that in such "luxury" hotel everybody jumps very soon to book a chair with his towel...

Beautiful views. Very friendly staff. Reminded us of hotels from the 50' but in a good way. As neither of us were born then. Just how we would envisage those times. No hassles or stress just relaxed.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. It's right by the ferry dock and a supermarket. The town of Mennagio was beautiful and very friendly. The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was beautiful. The free breakfast was a nice perk and using booking.com we got 20% off food at the hotel. Thanks for a great stay!

Location is perfect. I had a room with view to the lake and loved it, worth the additional price. Swimming pool is great fun, with view to the lake and super clean.

With small children in stroller plus luggage, not having a lift to go from the parking area to the lobby / entrance of hotel was not nice. Also the breakfast could be better for a 4 star hotel. But only minor things, would definetely recommend it and go back.

The hotel is elegant, clean and the view out across the garden and swimming pool to the lake, breathtaking. It's well positioned, close to the town centre and next to the port. The staff were helpful and polite.

Unfortunately the quality of the food let the hotel down for me. The catering staff did their best with the ingredients available to them, presentation was good and the food hot, but they were constrained by the quality of the raw materials they were using. The buffet breakfast was varied, but poor in taste and quality and the coffee undrinkable.
