Unfortunately the Parker's reflects also the very bad condition of the town of Naples, which is hard to tolerate anyway and impossible to accept on holidays.
The hotel is in urgent need of refurbishment as it's evident in our images.
The two lifts welcome the visitor with a terrible smell, which is really disgusting before breakfast. Bathrooms are nice and well appointed, but really too old and shower tab make Always a terrible rhythmic noise very loud. Level of cleaning was very bad and we found items of the previous guests and a lot of dust. We were not wondering to meet a maid at the Spa just a couple of minutes before the opening time cleaning with one hand and smoking a cigarette in the other hand. Once we had a temporary interruption of water, which we can understand considering the quality of the noisy plumbing.
Breakfast was average, but staff was often unattentive with few exceptions in a very busy breakfast room and its faboulous terrace. Fruit juices were not fresh, but served in small consumer bottles. We have seen guests preparing by themselves tables with napkins and flatware. Excellent small mozarellas and local pastries as sfoglaitelle were the highlights of the buffet. Very limited seleection of yoghurt and jams. It was quite funny to realizee that cups and saucers did not combine, because they were from various kinds.
Bar service was modest and overrated for Italy: Euro 15,00 for an ordinary cocktail and Euro 8,00 for a coke..
But what was most unbearable always was that members of staff were always chattering between them very loudly and also when they had phone call in bar and at restaurant. Maybe this is a typical attitude in Naples.
The Parker's has a fantastic terrace with view on Gulf of Naples from Sorrento coast and Capri till the local beach at Posillipo. Reception staff have been excellent, as well as porters and car valets, all along our stay. This seemed to us a good reflection of the past splendor of Naples architecture and Naples highlights.
And the above have been the only positive sides of our stay.
