Wonderfully located on the Tuscan Lido di Camaiore beach, Grandhotel & Riviera offers great facilities and modern accommodation just half a mile from Viareggio and half an hour from Pisa.
Score from 522 reviews Excellent
Designed by the architects Belluomini and Chini, Hotel Marchionni has a striking Art-Nouveau design. Next to Viareggio's seafront promenade, it has air-conditioned rooms with an LCD TV.
Score from 436 reviews Very good
Hotel President is on the seafront, a 10-minute walk from Viareggio Station. It offers attentive service, a large buffet breakfast, and discounts at a local beach club and swimming pool.
Score from 220 reviews Excellent
On over 5 acres of private parkland, this 19th-century estate features a outdoor pool and 2 restaurants. Its elegant rooms have satellite TV, 650 ft from Camaiore beach.
Score from 389 reviews Excellent
An old, renovated and charming hotel, with a long history. The facilities (rooms, pool on the roof...) are very pleasant and we enjoyed them a lot. The breakfast is tasty and served in a large, high and charming old room. The staff is helpful and friendly. Congratulations!
Only a bad surprise (not due to the hotel nor to its staff...) : the car park on the street along the hotel has to be paid, as well during the festive days! We didn't know that and had to pay a fee of € 41 to the City of Viareggio at 08.05 AM on January the 1st.!!!
The rooftop pool is excellent and could have been even better with a pool bar. What a missed opportunity to generate incremental revenue.
In the evening we would have liked a welcoming bar to sit and take advantage of the excellent vista. The seats were there but it was search for the barman
I never write reviews... I traveled alone and stayed in six hotels over three weeks and this was by far the best. Very comfortable room, bathroom was large and functional and the staff was friendly. I got a great deal on seaside view and it was the perfect end to my stay in italy.
water pressure was a little low in the shower.
The Staff,The Room, The Pool area
The gym wasn't open early (8.00am) The restaurant was very expensive for any food On our 2nd night we went down to the harbour area and found a great restaurant , atmosphere , good value
These were an excellent idea and had them for two days but tyres were flat and brakes very squeaky.
Staff didn't know much about local bus routes or where the bus stops were..one was right outside the hotel!!
the quality of he hotel and rooms
we went in mid oct and the pool and hotel bars were closed over lunch
View from roof Always sunbeds available Comfortable beds Nice large room Good coffee and buffet breakfast
No where to sit on two evenings due to events at hotel Reception staff very unhelpful when asked about hiring bikes. Had to go to another hotel to ask! Drinks at bar very expensive. Shame breakfast not on rooftop
Location near to the beach, which was excellent. Location was also good for visiting other tombs such as Luca and Pisa.s The reception staff were particularly helpful both in terms of giving us advice and information , and seeking dome redress on our behalf for the bad service we received relating to the restaurant bookings.
We felt we were abused by the hotel. When making our booking through you we requested a table for two on two nights at the hotel's Michelin star restaurant. The day before we arrived we were advised by e-mail that the restaurant was closed on Tuesday, our first booking. We subsequently found out that this was because we were the only advance booking although two other pairs of guests, who had not booked in advance, were unable to eat at the restaurant when they found it closed. On our second reservation (Thursday ), we rang to confirm our 7:30 reservation to be told that the restaurant did not open until 8:30. We reluctantly accepted a table at this time, despite it being too late for us. Subsequently we received a telephone call telling us the restaurant was now open at 8pm and did we want to eat then. Totally mystified we got to restaurant at 8pm to find it nearly full and an attempt to pass us off with an inferior, internal table. We realised that the hotel had taken a group booking of 30 people for 7:30 and had basically bumped all their other bookings to accommodate this group. We showed our annoyance and were offered a free glass of wine and a long wait for our meal with the first course arriving at 9:10, over an hour after we eventually sat down at our table. Whilst there was embarrassment amongst the staff there was no real apology, or an admission of what had occurred. When I expressed my disappointment at check out the following morning one of the very helpful reception staff took it upon herself to consult with the duty manager and we were credited for the Tuesday night meal which we had taken in the hotel's other, inferior restaurant. Despite this gesture the episode left a very bad impression of the hotel ant it's approach it it's guests.
Pool situation Breakfast Price
Too many employees who are not concentrated to the job. No parking space, got two fines in three days Price per day beach at the Excelsior Euro 64 is too much, a five star hotel should have a own beach without any costs for guests.
Pictures are lying, standard is much worse. Not worth 400 EUR per night!
Good location; well decorated rooms
A bit overpriced
Basement parking, with direct access to your floor, with the elevator. Nice sea-facing room with balcony. Great staff, attending to all your wishes. Good bed. The best towels we had in a long time. Efficient room service.
Airco not functioning properly (persistently switched off after +- 5 min.). No WiFi. Could not view a world-cup soccer match on the TV in the room, but had to go the lounge, next to the bar (which could not serve a 'bloody-mary'.
Breakfast is really good The position is excellent The staff is very halpfull Almost all the staff is russian spiacker.
The pool was too small
Hotel lovely, staff great. Breakfast buffet good. Pool classy.
Restaurant not very good.
