All the staff went out of their way to help us when there was a railway strike. They looked up alternative routes and organised taxis. Simply excellent.
Wonderful, old-world opulence in a great location.
Location - brilliant for early morning train; quiet room; good breakfast, including early morning take-away breakfast; pleasant staff.
The old world feel and look with a modern updated facility. It is within a 150 yards (about 125 meters) of the train station. My wife and I took one and two night side trips while the hotel held most of our luggage. The view from the rooftop lounge is outstanding. Can’t say enough good things about the place or the staff-- especially Silvano, the restaurant manager. I teach customer service programs for a large university and this place really sets the gold standard of service.
Very close to the train station
We had a great stay and I definitely recommend to anyone who has a trip to Genova.
Everything and especially the helpful staff
1) One day the housekeeping forgot to make our room but we called and in 20 minutes the room was made perfect. 2) Room service not functioning 24/7 plus no late night cup (no alcohol) served in the room or mini fridge. If you want a drink after midnight is impossimple to get it in this hotel.
The Hotel accommodation was charming in an old world luxurious way, the rooms excellent and quiet, the roof top bar a must for sunset drinks, the location excellent for walking both from the train station and for exploring the old town. The reception staff very welcoming and helpful.
Position, over the road from Station. The period decor of the hotel has been maintained and although now modern still has old world charm. Room was spacious and immaculate. Rooftop Bar very nice for sunset drinks. Very good breakfast buffet.
Not there long enough!
Location,staff,resutaurant,bar,room...everything is very good!We used trattoria every nights. How is a very nice restaurant manager!!We can enjoy dinner.Of course local cusine is very tasty. We ordered mix fried seafood&special genova soup every times.
I was meeting up with a bike tour company at the train station, and had chosen the hotel for its proximity. The room was very comfortable--large by European standards. The air conditioning worked and was quiet! And the rooftop deck was a perfect place for a pre-dinner drink.
Next to train station. Next to Hop on Hop Off bus stop. Easy walk to town or sites. Friendly staff. Attentive staff. Beautiful room.
Only seafood at restaurant.
Nice location. In all honesty, we only stayed 1 night as we were passing through but what we saw was lovely. Nice roof top bar, breakfast was good.
Gabrielle at the front desk. Well informed and helpful.
The restaurant. Needs a re-think. Breakfast (in same place good though)
I booked this hotel about 2 month before our stay and thought that the price was very acceptable. When I tried to change the dates it turned out that there was no way to recreate the price I had booked originally so it proved prudent to just maintain our dates. The hotel's location was perfect to explore the sights of Genoa by foot but we were close to the train station so that it was a cconvinient base to explore nearby Santa Margarite de Liguria and Portofino. Again the close proximity to the station was perfect when we continued our journey to Cinque Terre by train. A very easy, hassle free and economic way to get around in this part of Italy!
Because I booked at a special rate, very economic, our room was pretty small and in the back of the hotel. We were offered to upgrade, but at the time declined. In retrospect I would I inquire about the price differential and depending on the budget, perhaps chose a nicer room. There was nothing wrong with the room and it was exactly as described, but if the price difference is not too much an upgrade to a larger, nicer room may result in an even better experience.
Location, buffet breakfast, comfort of beds (executive rooms), grandeur of hotel.
Watch the temperature in the spa pool - member of party walked down into it on second afternoon and scolded her legs. Not monitored well enough.
location service value for money
Liked everything about this hotel. This was the 3rd time we have stayed here. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Breakfast is fantastic. Anything from your own omelette to pastries, cereals, fruit, meat/cheese. Room had balcony with beautiful view of the city and always has been clean as is the complete hotel.
Position was excellent We came by train from Nice, When we got out the hotel was there in front of us.A Fantastic Position to explore from. Especially important as we only had a short time. After returning from several hours of walking our meal in the hotels tratorria was fantastic.
Absolutely nobody to help with our luggage.to the lift and room. We are in our mid seventies and managed, but this is not a five star hotel. Reception staff helpful but grossly overworked And not enough of them. Certainly only a four star hotel we will recommend on position And helpful but minute number of staff. We will say good but don't think it's a five star place. A big queue to check out still only two on reception
The location is right next to the train station, but was a great spot and only a min from the harbour. Had a great buzz..
Hot tubs on roof should stay open until later..:)
Helpful staff and good quality rooms. Very good breakfast. Nice views from the 7th floor terrace, though they could do a bit more with it.
A little but away from the centre but not too far a walk.
Hotel was a great hideaway from the not so clean city. It's location is across the train station so the surrounding area isn't too pleasant but if your there for just a night, is close to the airport.
Breakfast is 15 euros and isn't anything special. Very standard.
What a hotel. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Beautiful inside with an exquisite roof top terrace restaurant, so you can eat with a marvellous view over the city. Brilliantly located to explore the redeveloped port area with a magnificent aquarium.
The room was very quiet and the bed extremely comfortable, making for the best nights of sleep I've had in many a hotel. The location is good for the train station if you are visiting portofino or cinque terre by train.
We were advised to visit the excellent da Gaia restaurant by the receptionist on the day we arrived (Monday) but found it was closed - better local knowledge is expected from hotel staff I think!
A grand ole dame of a hotel…classic. Such hotels are getting harder and harder to find in good condition, ones that have not been scared by tasteless updates. Their recent renovation was true to the building's original design. Beautiful…and great service!
