Grand Hotel Tritone    

It was excellent. The view was amazing. The best hotel in the area as it had its own private beach. We had a hired car and were free to travel the area. You need an experienced and confident driver otherwise you can use the local buses or taxis which seemed to be pretty good.

Expensive for the quality of service received

The location is spectacular and very quiet while being lose to busier places like positano. The staff are very friendly and discreet, the food is very good though a little expensive. Car parking is performed by a team of space wizards who can park a car in places you'd never believe. We liked its retro style and emphasis on comfort rather than luxury.

Could have better showers in the bathrooms and better access to wi if in the rooms but really these did not actually impact at all on our enjoyment.

Excellent - staff supurb

The location and unique access to the beach and salt water pool. Also the views from the main hotel verandas and rooms.

Whilst some staff are very "guest aware" and friendly this does not cover all. Some of the waiters display the surly attitude experienced from Europeans the world over.

There was a prior review of the Tritone which hit the mark. he gave it a number for service staff etc. Esentially the hotel bldg is a 5. An enginering marvel with all the needed outdoor facilities. it has a postcard vista from most rooms and the patio's are just magnificent. We were there during a hot spell and the ac was quite satisfactory. At this point I would reccomend to everyone; lovers, family (although we saw few children there) retirees. There are elevators every where so vertical travel is quite a breeze and since the only travel is vertical ( you are lodged in a mountain), that is all that is necessary. Now the part that takes a 5 star hotel to a 1 star. The staff are not totally there. The manager is a boistrous clown who seems to spend his time with city chums who look like the local rugby club (yes I know they do not play rugby on the coast). The rest of the staff seem intend on saying No or nothing at all. One experience: My stay came w breakfast and no other meals. howevr the maitre di informed me I had the partial dinner plan. he had the clerk behind the desk bring out their book and he showed me where i had this plan. The news was great but not totally relevant since we ate out most nights. it was nice to know in case we wanted to stay in and use the dinning room. he told me this after I asked him of the charge of a tomato salad we had one night(One tomato). We never got to the answer after he told me it did not matter. We had this partial dinner plan. You guessed it the next morning when we were checking out they never heard of such a plan. The same clerk who told me the night before of my plan now stood in front of me and told me he never heard of such a conversation. Was this a trick? Possibly, but I believe it is a staff who have total disregard, maybe contempt is more accurate) for their customers. I asked them for a converter. they said go in town and buy one.

The hotel is in a fantastic location and the views are truly amazing. The staff were very friendly and the service excellent. There is very good wireless coverage in the foyer/bar and reception areas which is a plus in Italy..

Not quite 4 star...

Fantastic location on the Amalfi Coast; the hotel overlooks the ocean and has 2 swimming pools - one at the top with the hotel, then another down by the beach. The beach is accessible by elevator which is great (or walk over 400 stairs!). Great beach, stony as per the region, and not crowded; fresh water shower too. The restaurant was excellent and daily breakfast was good. Very friendly staff. A short 15-20 minute walk into Praiano, or bus service available. Overall a great place to stay.

The drive along the coast to the hotel is a bit scarey with the narrow roads - and the parking at the hotel is limited but they had a valet driver to help. Walk or bus into town as parking is limited. Upstairs pool requires swimming cap. Downstairs beach & pool closed at 7pm which was too early for hot summer days. Pollution in the sea is disappointing - general rubbish & also sewerage. (Not from the hotel, but in the general area).

This hotel is superb if you are intending to tour the Amalfi coast by car. We used this hotel as a hub and visted Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano and Priano. The hotel itself is situated between Priano and Postano and has great views of the coastline. Definately more quiet than a town hotel but has that quite romance associated with it, ideal for the travelling couple. In all, very pleased with the hotel staff, location and food.

very nice hotel and grate location, however smalest possible TV in rooms and for Internet you have to go to reception area to be connected.

The staff at the hotel were lovely especially the bartender in the evenings who looked after us very well and took care in all presentation of our drinks and food, making us feel very special. The elevator to the beach is really handy as its quite a walk down, also the staff at the beach were also very helpful. There is a bar and restaurant down there and also a pool with great loungers so your very comfortable. There are fabulous views from everywhere in the hotel and we had a great sea view from our room. The hotel is in classic Italian decor which is nice but it is a bit tired and needs a bit of a revamp. I would stay here again although be careful of the expensive hotel prices on drinks and snacks down by the beach that they charge to your room.

We stayed at Tritone 2 years ago, and came back this year, just because this hotel is fantastic! The hotel has an amazing location with spectacular view. The building is just amazing. The staff is helpful and friendly, yet professional. They makes us feel warmly welcome. We got help and recommendations from the reception and the Director, which we appreciated very much. Antonio in the bar represent the hotel in a such a perfect way, with the white tuxedo-jacket and calm and professional attitude. The beach is a place to relax in beautiful surroundings and with staff that is so kind and service minded. We also have to mention the staff up at the parking, taking care of our car the whole stay. They do a great job! Thank you! The rooms at Tritone is not modern like other new hotels, but the are well kept and in a style that fit the hotel-profile very well. Just sitting outside on the lobby terrace and enjoy the view and atmosphere can not be described in words.

me and my wife really enjoyed our stay room 138 had a great vew .really nice breakfasts took overlooking the sea 200feet below.private beach and pools where great ,i would recomend this hotel to anyone top quality .

the only small disapointment was the bar prices bottle of peroni 6 euros when it was 2 euros in prianao village bars ,it doesnt really encourage you to drink at the hotel.

Rustic charm, choice of two pools, beautiful setting and scenery to die for.

Lack of information about what was available to do locally. Had to ask for bus timetables and still don't understand ticket system. There were fireworks on a number of evenings locally but no one in the hotel told us about them just happened to hear them going off. Other guests missed them completely. Some guests didn't know about second pool. Some boat trips could be arranged including water taxi pick up from our hotel but again only found this out when booking trip in the town.

The location is fantastic, hanging on the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast. The views are outstanding. A huge plus is the availability of parking, which along the narrow coastal highway comes at a premium. The attitude of the staff is also a real plus, friendly and always trying to help.

The quality of the facilities is very poor. No wifi in the rooms, no bath mat, no alcohol in the mini bar and not even a box of tissues in the bedroom. This is supposed to be 4 stars! The bath had dribble stains and the enamel so old that it was filthy after every use. We couldn't get anything but a tomato salad at their beach facility plus only beer and white wine, no red wine in Italy! And they stopped serving lunch at 2.30pm, at a seaside resort! And no evening room service.

בחדר: חדר האמבטיה לא נקי מספיק,מהמרפסות של החדרים הסמוכים אפשר להציץ לחדר ולכן למרות הנוף המדהים מהחדר אי אפשר להשאיר וילון פתוח. הויטרינה מהחדר למרפסת לא היתה נקיה. הזמנתי בארוחת ערב מרק דגים 26 יורו, קבלתי מרק פירות ים (שניהם מופיעים בתפריט), בקשתי שיחליפו קבלתי אחרי 2 דקות דג ברוטב מים, לא אכיל, התלוננתי ולא זכיתי לכל התיחסות,לא אכלתי ועדיין התעקשו לחייב. בחניה: צריך להשאיר את המכונית לא נעולה והמפתח בפנים. ירידה לחדר: צריך לרדת במעלית אחר כך לרדת קומה אחת במדרגות ואחר כך להחליף 2 מעליות שונות
