Good location. Clean. The attic rooms are very basic and definitely not 4 star. You have to stand on a 2 foot sill to see out a small window. The air conditioning is extremely loud, almost impossible to sleep with, however room too hot to sleep without. The sound proofing of rooms is poor (you can hear air con next door). The tv is the size of an old pc monitor, with only 3 channels as opposed to the 10 advertised. No hair dryer/safe/or clothes press in room. Called to reception for hair dryer, it never arrived and eventually have to go down and get it myself. Breakfast not good value for money (go to cafe down street, you will have better breakfast with view there). Pool below par for 4 star hotel. Wireless only available in lobby. Reception staff extremely rude at times. Overall disappointed and would not recommend.

Very dated 80's style hotel. It is a grand building, but the inside is just awful. No noise insulation.

The hotel occupies a quiet position with lovely outlook over Lake Como. The reception was very welcoming on arrival. Breakfasts were very average for a 4 star hotel. I would expect hot food as well as buffet. I did not expect a charge of 3 euro for a half hour use of internet.

The hotel is ideally located on the quiet lakeside road in Menaggio and is just a short walk from the main square. It is set in its own grounds with adequate private parking. It is an ideal location to explore the Central Lakes area, with the ferry terminal a ten- to fifteen-minute walk away. This hotel sets itself apart from many by offering genuine, excellent service to customers. It also (unusually) remains open throughout the year whilst most other local hotels close over winter. It has a traditional style in both setting and service and provides a comforting, calm ambience to guests and visitors. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, offering local knowledge and assistance on a variety of subjects. It attracts a well-deserved four-star rating and is priced accordingly; it is certainly highly recommended. There is very little scope for criticism without being hyper-critical. The only suggestions would be to improve the wi-fi Internet coverage to the rooms and provide in-room hot-drinks facilities.

We chose this hotel for it's excellent location at Lake Como and because of it's easy driving access to Switzerland, which was to have been our next destination. However, bad weather in Switzerland forced a change in our plans and we spent four glorious days here. If you love old world ambiance, elegant dining, attentive service and the absolute best location in Menaggio, this hotel is for you. The hotel manager, "Paolo", was wonderfully helpful, and although we thought at first that we might have preferred staying in Belaggio, we decided we would stay here next time just to see him again! Add to that free parking on the lovely grounds and yes! An elevator! We noticed many passers-by snapping pictures of the hotel. Queen Victoria stayed here, according to the staff. You will love it here! There is no Internet access in the rooms, but the free Wi-Fi in the lobby was not an inconvenience for us because it was so pleasant to sit in grand surroundings....think high ceilings, original crystal chandeliers and mirrors, views of the lake right outside, etc.

The room was beautiful and had an incredible view of the lake. The hotel is clean and only a short 250 m walk from the ferry and into town. Neither we nor another guest could get the wi-fi to work; if you need wi-fi while here there is an internet cafe near the ferry where we had success. The room smelled a little musty when we walked in, but a breeze through the window from the lake cleared that up.

Wonderful location. Hotel had a very relaxed and orderly feel about it. We encountered no group travellers, so the general atmosphere felt so much better. Breakfast in the garden room was a most enjoyable experience , again because of the absence of group travelers (while we were there) our friends mixed up their booking and ended up at the "other" grand hotel, rear the ferry. Not the same tone of place and plen of group travelers. Room had a great view over the lake , but was not very big.. But still was a great stay.

The location of the hotel was perfect. The common areas were very grand. I did have a few problems, but found the staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were not very nice. They did not fit the image when you walked in - I felt like I was staying in the staff quarters. Also - the walls were very thin, so I felt like I shared a room with those around me.

Free parking, excellent location in Menaggio. The concierge booked us a table at a restaurant we knew of and called us a taxi. Hire boat service out front (I assume affiliated with the hotel) very helpful and good value. We chose an attic room on price, it was a bit tired and the pillows were hard. I assume other rooms are more luxurious...

Location was very good and hotel clean and nice gardens Although this hotel is in an excellent location we felt rooms where very small and although clean, dated. I travelled with my wife and children aged 15 and 21 so we needed two rooms or one large suite. In the end we selected the suite which had two small bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two small single beds and one small lounge area. At 500 Euros a night felt is was overpriced. Also the buffet breakfast was a big let down. Canned fruit, artificial fruit juices, cold meats and some pastries with no hot food. Very ordinary. In the end we ordered some eggs and salmon for breakfast which although very nice cost us 50 euros for two which is a rip off. We tried to check out after the first night and although we expressed our disappointment with the rooms when we checked in they would not let us do so unless we paid the full cost of our accommodation for the rest of our stay. Will never be back again. A big disappointment.

Great hotel all round. Staff were very friendly, they were very responsive to all our demands/ questions, and the pool was top class. One suggestion- Internet access in the rooms would be ideal. We are planning a return visit as our trip was very successful.
