Good location Nice room Gym and sauna Wi-fi and cable TV
Food very expensive and not that good
I was there fiert time 50 years ago to stay for about 1 month , I was there many times from 1965. therefore villa medeci is something special for me.Anyway we will be again there next stay.(our hotel in Firenze for the life)
Total atomsphre was much better in the past . (no more piano-bar) we feel rooms are OK but main foor such entrance garden, swiming pool restaurant should be remodeled and much luxy.
Size of room was great. Breakfast was the best we had. Pool was closed which was disappointing but it looked lovely. Spa facilities were a nice touch. Over décor and feel was great.
Location is a little out of town. Suggest a taxi back, especially at night. Valet parking is overpriced. My car came back scratched and they haven't come back to me after I reported it.
We travelled to Florence and wanted a good hotel that was fairly central but also quiet at night. This hotel was both of of those things. We chose to eat out in the city centre but found the hotel staff to be very cheerful and helpful and our room (no 123) was excellent. A large room with a balcony and view out over the pool. Courtesy service to the city centre at night was very much appreciated. Excellent hotel
The was nothing to dislike
Not very much. Didn't like to be deceived by the photos.
Some photos used are not representative of the actual place, but rather of the few private rooms which one never gets to see, but they are deceivingly described as being a public area ('grab a drink or bite to eat'). The real hotel is rather dull and overpriced and located in a shabby area of town. Rather expensive breakfast. Tiny pool and garden. We chose the Grand Hotel Villa Medici based on the photos and descriptions they provide and were bitterly disappointed with what we found. It was a special occasion for us and we were looking forward to spending time in beautiful florentine style surroundings, but it wasn't possible, as the places that are described as public areas are in fact the Royal suite. The real hotel is very grey and dull. Absolute shambles and very misleading advertising.
Everything . Particularly courtesy bus . Service amazing .
The atmosphere, restaurant.
Had a problem to reach the hotel with the car, so -left the car in the center of the area and walked to the hotel. Was very difficult to convince the reception to go with one of them 3 minutes to the car and to give directions (from inside the car) how to come to the hotel. They wanted to show on a map -after we said that almost 2 hours we are driving around and around....GPS gives wrong instructions, people on the road give also wrong instructions. Only after long discussions -they agreed. Haim
The location is excellent, you are a 10 minute walk from all of the main sites, but have the luxury of having peace and quiet when needed. It was my partner's birthday and we were upgraded to the penthouse and had a beautiful view of the city.
The rooms do not have irons. You have to pay the concierge to collect your clothing, iron them and return. In my opinion having an iron in the room is a must. Having ordered room service the food was left in our room all day, to the point we had to call concierge to come and collect it.
- Excellent location, - Friendly & courteous staff, - Luxurious & spacious room, - Very nicely designed bathroom, and - The pool & garden area were truly beautiful both in the morning and at sunset In a nutshell, if we could rate Grand Hotel Villa Medici a 20, we would!
Can't think of anything we didn't like!
Very impressed by the staff's politeness, awareness, hospitality and overall quality of service. The room was very spacious, the bathroom also, large comfortable bed, everything fresh and clean.
The price of breakfast, but we ate outside anyway, in a cafe just around the corner, Italian style breakfast (cappuccino and cornetto crema)
Amazing value for money. A very nice outdoor swimming pool. Good to relax after sight seeing. Rooms are fairly big. 15 mins walk to the Old Town but nice area around.
The rooms are definitely not 5 star quality. Bed is very hard. Wifi is extremely slow. But in overall its worth what you pay for.
Please let the customers know the there is no parking on property and if they arrive by car the entrance looks like it's blocked. I had to go around several blocks in very heavy traffic before getting back to the entrance.
The hotel was beautiful and the staff were amazing!
26euro for breakfast at a 5 star hotel is strange!
stuff super friendly, my favorite hotel in florence till now, I will for sure stay there again :) this hotel is perfect, very elegant and comfortable, beautiful in the rooms and outside
Beautiful contemporary room with balcony / a lot of charm Very luxurous bathroom Very nice views over the swimming pool and trees High level of confort Excellent service kind and professional
- Check out (he was not smiling and did not apologize after a mistake in our invoice) but all other members of staff were very professional
Big suite, breakfast by the pool, helpful staff
Old Room accessorie e.g. bed, closet etc.
Wonderful to come back to the pool and garden area after a day sightseeing. Hotel was away from the center of town yet walking distance - a peaceful retreat. Lovely large room and bed (unusual for a single traveler in Europe). Staff very courteous and helpful. Can't wait to return!
It is really nice hotel.
Have to pay cash for the tour booked through the hotel.
the staff at the hotel are very professional, friendly and helpful. we faced some issues (below) but the staff managed to more or less sort out. hotel location was good as only a 15 min walk to central florence
checked in at midnight after arriving to florence and was taken to what we assume to be the last room in the hotel which was absolutely dreadful. I'm not joking when i say i have stayed in 3* hotels in Riyadh Saudi Arabia of a higher standard. broken picture frame, screws sticking out of floor in bathroom, furniture all scratched, carpet looked about 20 years old and was cheap when it was new! now soiled and stained. i honestly didn't want to sleep in the room as it made me feel dirty! not what you want after a long flight in a supposedly 5* hotel. the staff managed to fix the room the next morning to a more appropriate room, still not 5* level but a good 4*. still....the beds in the room were like sleeping on a concrete block. the hotel took pre authorisation every night on all consumptions for that day. when checked out they then proceeded to charge me for these consumptions but did not remove the pre authorisation. this drives me absolutely furious! as I'm travelling frequently and if every hotel charged + blocked the full amount on my credit card, i will soon find myself with no credit. overall, i was so disappointed from my first night (which we were still charged the full price) that i would not recommend this hotel and will for sure not be returning.
staff friendliness, Concierge know how and help, location away from the crowds yet very close, comfortable room & terrace, cleanliness. excellent housekeeping.
limited choice of in-room food late night.
the location is ok,
we called room service twice, nobody come. The employee in the front desk is not nice. It's not like LHW hotel.
The pool area was very nice after a morning of sightseeing when it was hot. At night I sat outside and had a drink and relaxed. It was beautiful. The staff were very pleasant.
It was a bit of a walk to the center of town but not bad. About 15 minutes. At night there were a few Mosquitos.
Huge room, very upmarket feel and great service from all staff
