The luxury 4-star Grand Hotel Ambasciatori is perched on a cliff overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in Sorrento.
Score from 256 reviews Wonderful
Set on the cliff tops and a 15-minute walk from the center of Sorrento, Hotel Belair features an outdoor pool, sit-down restaurant and elegant-style accommodations with a sea-view balcony.

The location was perfect the hotel was exceptionally clean and staff were lovely Views are spectacular from the rooms
We went near the end of season and the pool needed a good clean around the edges
The staff were friendly, food was excellent, service a little slow at times, but it was busy; clean room, great view of the bay from our room, good wifi and great for relaxing by the pools. Nearly flat walking into town, just a small hill as the Hotel is located against the hillside. Highly recommend this Hotel.
The hotel and the reception staff and staff at the pool were excellant
On our first night the restaurant where we ate on the fourth floor were the service was unfriendly and the food was almost inedible it was for this reason we choose to eat outside the hotel
View, location, pools, breakfast and staff
Room 823 was disappointing. View was obstructed and felt enclosed.....parking a little expensive at 19 Euros per day
The views were amazing! ! Food was good and rooms comfortable, elegant and well maintained. Staff on the whole were lovely. We had the Sunday evening candlelit dinner which was ok food but a fabulous ambience as they had a violinist playing beautifully and the setting was gorgeous.
The Hotel had mainly elderly guests which was fine and caused us no problems at all, its just that we a couple in our 40's. The hotel is set on a cliff top and there was a bit of noise from motorcycles going past. Other than that I couldn't fault it.
We stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon w/c 1st Sept 2014. We had a wonderful room overlooking the Bay of Naples/Versuvious. Brilliant location on the edge of town ( approx 10 minutes walk from Tasso Square). Lovely cascading infinity pools but water cold ( colder than the sea!). Overall a lively hotel.
No coffee making facilities in the room. Water very cold in the pool.
Size, overall facilities, staff, position of hotel - easy walk to restaurants etc but away from bustle of main "high street"
No gym - but not not a major issue
The location is perfect, great views of Sorrento and the Bay of Naples. Staff was very friendly and english was spoken every where. Pool and dining areas all have great views. Rooms were roomy and large. Easy walk to the town, although like every where in Sorrento up a hill. Cab fare was 12 euro to the down town, so you could easily walk down and cab back.
none, except maybe the fact that everything is either up hill or down hill, but certainly not the hotels fault!!!
Absolutely loved the view. The cascading pools are definitely worth the travel. The walk to the town was ideal in terms of distance. I would definitely recommend trying the restaurants further along the strip, towards the ocean. There's little squares there that are perfect for a romantic meal for two. Be sure to book a private boat to take you to the Isle of Capri. Spoil yourself here with the luxuries of all things designer!
In my experience, there were LOADS of tourists everywhere, making it feel a little contrived. I wasn't too keen on the fact that there wasn't a decent beach to walk down to. Leonelli's beach was crowded and small. The water couldn't compare to Capri.
The pools and staff
Standard rooms quite expensive
Great location and amazing views of the City of Sorrento and the Bay of Naples. We walked to excellent shopping and restaurants and the drive was convenient to both Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We almost stayed in Positano but so glad we stayed in Sorrento instead. On property restaurants were very good.
The clientele tended to be on the older side and even though we are almost 50 we were among the youngest ones there.
The view, the view, the view! It's to die for. Beautiful terraced gardens
No tea and coffee making facilities in room
Location is an easy stroll from the centre of Sorrento and is to the South of the Town. Options for dinner and lunch in Sorrento very good. The pools are great and lots of room to choose your spot. People in and out of hotel most of the day so few are there hogging sun beds from dawn to dusk.
Breakfast is a little busy and have to queue for a space if you want outdoors (the most popular) but indoors is ok and more relaxed. Food choices are repetitive if on half board option but quality is ok if a little expensive if you choose an evening meal 35-40 euro per person for 3 courses. Had one meal there ambience great food ok
Stunning location overlooking Bay of Naples. My Sea view room was faultless? The staff were excellent and very helpful
Pools, views, quietness, decent room size and balconies, accessibility to Sorrento, choice of eating, grandness of hotel/decor, spacious feel.
Getting there! We got public transport which was v hot/long. Got taxi back. Hotel didn't have shuttle service, or group travellers together. No tea/coffee facilities in rooms
The facilities are excellent and the breakfasts very good. The one staff member who was pleasant and very helpful was a young woman at the front desk named Marta.
With the exception of Marta the staff at the front desk and the wait staff in the restaurant were unresponsive and totally indifferent.
Comfortable room, great view of the Bay of Naples. Great breakfast, nice pools and excellent friendly and helpful staff.
Not ideal for anyone who finds steps and stairs difficult.
only one thing lack of daily newspapers and that's being picky!
The pools. The restaurant by the pool
The Mosquitos in outside restaurant
A very unique hotel truly situated on the side of the mountain. Three different elevators to different parts of the hotel. If you want an amazing view of the town and the ocean than stay here and not in the downtown area.
The landscape around the pools area.
The towels and linen are quite old. The furniture and room deco is also a bit too old. The hotel is very well located and could use some improvements.
The location and hotel was brilliant. The food in the hotel was excellent and the staff could not do enough for you. Our maid Lena was great such a hard worker as all the staff were. Thank you for a great holiday.
Their was nothing not to like about the Hotel.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and always accommodating. It is centrally located and a short walk to the town center. There are absolutely stunning views that cannot be beat.
Nothing, it was a wonderful hotel and a great place to stay.
The desk staff, cleaning ladies and the bar staff in the lounge were all very nice.
The waiters in the breakfast room were surly and really didn't have a good attitude. They weren't interested in pleasantries or even giving you eye contact, not very helpful either! Bad attitude.
The views were breathtaking from the hotel's awesome terraces, rooftops, and pools. If you want to get a clear, unobstructed view of why you even came to Sorrento, this hotel is where you want to stay. Also, I believe breakfast is included for everyone who stays here. Italians don't typically do breakfast, so having a big buffet with plenty of options was really nice. Not to hark on it, but having breakfast with a view over the city and the sea was one of a kind in Sorrento.
The beds weren't that comfortable and the air conditioning had a block on how low you could set it. It was kind of warm which made it uncomfortable and left the air really stale.
