Offering refined accommodations just 440 yards from Santa Maria Novella train station, the Grand Hotel Adriatico is in central Florence, a 10-minute walk from Florence’s Duomo.
Score from 1149 reviews Very good
An old favourite, gloriously central, with an altana (rooftop terrace) that presents misty sunrises over San Miniato and the floodlit Duomo while enjoying a glass of prosecco.
The restaurant D.O.C beside the hotel, I went there 5 nights, and the food was excellent and the staff so friendly and helpful. I suffer from intolerance for a lot of food, and they solved these issues with the kitchen. I will recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good tasty food and a quiet place to stay to enjoy your food alone or talk.
Very central. All tourist attractions were just 3 to 10 minutes walk. The roof top terrace is second to none! Great view overlooking the doumo. The best gym ever! Staff were so nice and accomodating! Nothing to complain about!
very beautiful and very big room.
i cannot use to internet wifi inside line rooms.
The room was very comfortable, the staff extremely helpful, the location was great! Lovely views from rooftop lounge.
Drink prices in the rooftop lounge too expensive!
Location was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. The lobby and dining area were very pretty. Everything was very clean!!
I was expecting the room to be a little more luxuries after seeing the lobby and dining area. It was a little small but very ample.
We think the location was great. Overall it was clean and nice.
Twice we asked the front desk to give us a wake up call and it did not happen Additionally I asked the front.to give me change for a 20 euro. The answer was we do not have it and we are not bank! Very curt and unfriendly. Staff definitely needs more training
Close to town
Room far too hot but AC had been switched off for winter. Had to open windows at night which let in mosquitoes
Mirko was an excellent receptionist/concierge who helped with my every inquiry and travel needs and arrangements. I was very grateful for his help. The location of the hotel was fantastic - within short walking distance to many of the main sights.
The location-Close to Duomo and most other sights in Florence. Friendly and efficient staff. Good breakfast. Good sized room and bathroom.
Noise can be easily heard from adjoining rooms.
good location very helpful and efficient staff nice room
no noise-proof walls
Excellent location - walking distance to many sights - shopping, restaurants on the same street - lovely roof top bar - great views - highly recommend this hotel!
The roof bar and the size of room
Temperature in breakfast lounge very cold
Location in the city, close to the historic center of everything
The roof top terrace is simply stunning! The buffet breakfasts were excellent. Top tip they do serve cappucino but you have to ask for it. On arrival there were a few problems with our room; the door wouldn't lock, only one set of towels ( there were two of us) only two very flat pillows and not enough milk. I immediately reported this to reception and all matters were dealt with within 10 minutes. We stayed in two rooms as we couldn't book the first one for 5 days. The second room 415 was lovely, bright and airy with a fantastic view of the Palazzo Vechio. The location of this hotel is brilliant a few steps away and you in the Duomo square. Will definitely stay again.
The first room we were given 429 was a small double but I would say it was only suitable for one person. It was very cramped and dark. It did however have a fabulous bathroom. There was only one chair in the room so difficult to chill out and relax. However, it was a good price for Central Florence.
Loved the location to the center of Florence. EVERYTHING we wanted to see was in walking distance. The only transportation we had to pay for was from the airport. Train station is in walking distance, too. Breakfast was spectacular and included!!
VERY small shower! Yikes!
The hotel is located between the Piazza della Signoria and the Duomo, in the heart of Florence's historical centre. Excellent cost/benefit, for the price of a two-star hotel we got facilities of a four-stars. Breakfast was superb with many options of fruits, cereals, cold cuts, salami, prosciutto, cheeses. A real comfortable and relaxing stay!
As the hotel is located in Florence's ZTL (Zona a traffico limitato), you cannot arrive by car. But this is not the hotel's fault.
Very close to everything, bed very comfortable, breakfast had plenty of choice and good quality. Really enjoyed our stay.
Drinks on the rooftop terrace way over priced.
The hotel was minutes from all the main attractions and only 20 minutes from Florence airport which was 24 Euros by taxi. Good restuarants also abound close to the hotel. Staff were excellent in all regards. Reception was clean, welcoming and despite previous comments from other reviews there was no unpleasant smell. Breakfast was good with unlimited juice, fresh fruit, cereal, croisants, yoghurts, cold meats and cheese, fried bacon and scrambled egg and toast with as much tea or coffee as you wanted. The hotel was quiet and not being overly large felt quite intimate. Would I stay there again? Definately.
I paid for a superior double room and was a little dissapointed with the room we had. The website did a good sales job (but what web site doesn't) which wasn't quit matched in the flesh. That said, my wife was more than happy with the room so perhaps I am being overly critical and did not say anything. The air conditioning unit was noisy and my wife found the bed uncomfortable - it was quit hard but I found it fine. The roof terrace was not quite as impressive as displayed on the website in that there were some stainless steel flues and some pipework between the terrace and the surrounding architecture and the terrace was not as large as I envisaged. It was however a nice place to sit in the evening drinking cocktails although they are expensive. It was quite an expensive hotel although there was an offer on when we went and we paid about a quarter of the normal rate of 3600 Euros for the four nights we were there. I suppose the central location is what you pay for.
Drinks o the rooftop at sunset
The breakfast room, and reception staff, rooftop bar were all really great! I loved sitting up on top and sipping my Sprizt and looking at the Duomo in the early evening and sharing this moment in time! We spent 5 nights here and I would stay there again!
Our room was ok, but the mattress was pretty hard, something we noticed through out Europe. I think ours really was ready to be replaced. We had a neighborhood view and that was cool!
The roof top bar.
Concierge off on Sunday. Restaurant menu.
Fabulous roof top terrace
The location was the main benefit of this hotel and the open roof-top bar was a wonderful attraction albeit an expensive one. We had a superior room but it was on the small side. However given the central location that was probably to be expected.
Unsuitable music at breakfast and the staff seemed to struggle to cope with the volume of people when it came to clearing used crockery from the tables. Didn't dine in the restaurant as it was very expensive and better value and more character was to be found near by.
