The special touches that the staff did to make my stay very memorable. I will be choosing to stay at the Grand Hotel Continental for my future business trips, and I will also advise my co-workers to stay there as well. Great view too!

Rooms are a comfortable size but the bathroom had a shower cubicle far too small (50cm square, with pipes and show head imposing on this space as they were centrally positioned) for anyone other than a small child. Getting in and out of it meant squeezing between two sliding doors (sliding from a corner) that opened to a mere 30cm with the water lever (for controlling the heat/cold and associated pipes) imposing right into the middle of the cubicle and if one turned round to ensure the water was reaching all parts, you could not but help to move it meaning that you could make the water dangerously hot or shockingly cold. The bathroom itself was large enough to have accommodated a much larger size show cubicle as there was no bath. It let the hotel down no end as the facilities are very good. However, the head waiter seemed to have been trained by the military and barked his orders rather than solicitously assisting the guests. He reprimanded a staff member in one of the bars with stentorian tones that was heard by all in the bar and embarrassed the person concerned. Making sure disabled people could access all the areas was impressive - except for the shower in the guest rooms.

The hotel was very clean and the room was well equipped with very good air conditioning, a fridge, a hairdryer etc. However the smell in the en suite was not very plesant - probably coming from the town sewers. Smell in the en suite. We were only staying one night so it wasn't worth causing a fuss but I could not have stayed longer due to this smell. The en suite was very clean but the smell was quite sickening.

Overall the hotel is ok with a very large pool though you have to wear a hat at a cost of 2 Euro ! The hotel design is poor being in 2 buildings and being at a right angle to the sea it does not have best sea views. The pool area and beach was closed at 8pm, and the restaurant closed at 9.15pm. All a bit early when you are on holiday.

The olympic-size pool was excellent, the temperature was always warm enough for a swim (although admittedly we had excellent weather). The children really enjoyed playing in the pool and there was plenty of room for adult swimmers as well. There is also a nice area separate to the pool where you can sit at a table and enjoy a drink. The private beach provided a nice alternative and is very close. Tirrenhia is not he most attractive Italian seaside town but we found a couple of nice places to eat, the Bagno Mary restaurant and a small Enoteca/Osteria which did very nice simply dishes. The room was a bit basic, although comfortable enough. It would be worth specifying a balcony. The stairways need a bit of refurbishment but the reception and lobby area is spacious and comfortable. Car parking was not as straightforward as indicated but we did have free parking outside of the hotel during our stay.

This hotel had rooms available one week before we went during Festa. Breakfast included was a wonderful treat traveling with a baby of a year and a haft. Parking is not free, it is able 14Euro a night, but it is a secure lot.

The beach and the amazing pool. It is dated and needs renovation...but, it is still a very nice older hotel in a great location.

Nearby pool...although mandatory head cap required. Continental Breakfast. * Mandatory headcap for swimming pool usage. * Table tennis paddles were degraded. * Room beds were smaller than expected. * Parking was difficult because of beachgoers. * Hotel's beach area confined to 2 rows of chairs only (no chaise lounges). * Payment for Wi-Fi was disappointing.

It's a large hotel with several on-site facilities at your disposal (beach, pool, cafè, restaurant, terraces to relax, bike rental), which means you can spend a few days there without needing anything extra. The pool and beach areas were clean and well-maintained. The breakfast is quite good (for Italian hotel breakfast standards). There is a beach- side restaurant that doesn't cost too much (I didn't eat there so can't review standard). The room was clean and didn't smell of stale cigarette smoke. Everything worked in the room. The staff were not particularly friendly. It's impersonal service but that's because it's a large hotel with a large number of tourists streaming through every week. There were too many behaviour rules on the beach (no eating, no hanging clothes from umbrellas) and the laydown beds cost extra (you get a deckchair free). The bagnino (young man who looks after the beach) is eagle-eyed and controls the beach and it's occupants as if it were a military base..The gym was closed on saturday when I arrived.

Hotel location is good, near the beach and not far from Pisa. Pool area was comfortable and clean. I Would recommend this hotel for families and couples, who wants to relax and don't need so much action (discos/pubs etc.)

The location of the Grand Hotel is at the beach which is wonderful. The swimming pool is great and it is nice to be in a pool that you can swim in. Wonderful place for relaxing. "Free parking". This is not really true. Free public parking is only possible from monday - thursday when there is no market. Parking from friday to sunday is quite costly at the hotel.

The proximity to the beach, the breakfast, the information about the area the staff provided was very helpful. Personally a large resort like this isn't really our cup of tea. The place was huge and really full.

Nice pool, good opportunities for swimming/playing in the water both at the beach and in pool-area. Nice breakfast, spaceus common areas at the hotel, good room-size. Not much to do for older children exept from taking a swim/sunbathing. Not many shops or other things to do in the area. Best suited for people who just want to stay in the pool-/beach-area, or families with small children.

I stayed there while my children were participating in a sports camp at C.O.N.I. As an oasis for me, it was perfect for relaxing poolside and seaside! I loved being able to swim in the beautiful olympic pool, walk the beach, read some books and catch up on sleep. Perhaps the small town of Tirrenia is lacking in terms of shops and restaurants, but the hotel served my purposes exactly as I had hoped.

We were spending the night in Pisa and we wanted somewhere other than the city to stay. I chose this because it sounded nice on the beach. The pool area is very big with lots of room around the pool. The hotel was very accommodating and arranged a cab to take us to the airport early the next morning. It was 43 euros to the airport. Next time I would stay downtown and closer to the airport. The hotel is clean but old. The beach area is close to the hotel but also looks like it could use an update on the facilities. We found a good restaurant nearby but there is very little to choose from. It was further from Pisa than we expected. It took at least 30 minutes on a very full bus to get there.

Windowview from the 3rd floor was really beautiful - Ligurian Sea, beach and park. Excellent location. Shuttle 20 EUR to Pisa (Airport or Central Train Station) which is good (taxi costed us 40 EUR). Hotel's Staff knows English very well and it is very helpful and proffessional. Small reluctance in fixing wi-fi problem. When I reported a Wi-fi breakdown, a front office clerk provided me with another password. That was a perfect reaction. When I reported that it is still not working, he persuaded that it is probably a computer problem instead of checking wi-fi with the technician. Alltogether everything was fixed within next 30 min. 1. Average food: tea/coffee/juice, cheese, eggs, ham, yougurt, fruits, cereals, cake No variation. 2. Even though the weather was good (23C day/18C night) a swimming pool was closed - has not been filled fully with water yet.
