Grand Hotel de la Ville

The staff in this hotel were excellent. The location was excellent. Everyone was very helpful. Rooms kept very clean. Very good service. Almost perfect.

Rooms near the lift are very noisy in the early morning (we were near it). Walls are wafer thin. Bar snacks were horrendous. Breakfast gets very repetitive.

We were especially impressed with the beautiful tile in the bedroom and in particular the bathroom. We also loved the Sorrento style furniture.It was nicer than a 4 and a half star hotel that we stayed at in Assisi.

Nobody speaks german, the hotel guests were very old, no young people

We liked the friendly and helpful attitude of the staff (particularly the front desk and concierge); the very high quality of the rooms and the relatively central location. We also liked the al fresco part of the dining room in the courtyard.

We were in rooms facing the sea, with excellent balconies and plenty of space. Rooms on the back of the hotel, which were cheaper, seemed less well found and look directly onto a very disappointing view of residential flats; describing these as having a garden or courtyard view isn't really credible. The restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient (with the exception of a diffident wine waiter who was very reluctant to part with his wine list!) but some might them overly familiar.

Drink is very expensive. The pictures advertising the rooms are deceiving . They are not as good as they look. We paid €500 more for a deluxe room which was not worth it . The hotel is a bit away from where the action is ! There are nicer hotels at the other end of Sorrento

I loved the cleanliness of the hotel itself and the room, it was spacious and bright yet when it came to sleep it was so dark you could sleep very comfortably. The air conditioning was very quiet too and kept the room lovely and cool. Overall a very nice stay.

I thought the food was very expensive and not worth the money you pay. €5.50 for A very small toasted cheese sandwich with no extras or garnish is a bit cheeky to ask and €32 per person for a buffet dinner when you can get a starter, main course, half bottle of wine and a beer for two people in the centre of town is a bit steep aswell.

The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly.

I didn't like the damp smell in the bedroom, I felt it never got enough airing. Also I would rate this hotel a 3.5 Star not a 4 StarS. Reception Staff not particulary friendly also got our room booking wrong on 1st night. No compensation offered for their mistake. Also when I booked it I mentioned it was our 10 year wedding anniversary but no complimentary gesture was given.

Ants in our room. Front desk called a taxi for us, who overcharged us for a 3km trip. Front desk attitude after we gave them cab number. Was too bad!

The room was very clean, comfortable and modern. Location was good - close the city center.

Breakfast was okay but very simple. Pool was cold and located between old buidlings. The view we had from the room was to a neighberhood.
