The good quality and comfort of the rooms, friendlyness and customer service of staff. Good choice and quality for breakfast. Lovely roof top pool and views.

Drinks were a bit expensive

The hotel has a very convenient location in Sorrento, everything within a comfortable walk. The staff were excellent, professional, courteous, accommodating and welcoming, and they make a genuine effort to ensure you enjoy your stay. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. Would happily recommend to friends and family.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Spotless spacious room - cleaned thoroughly every day. Very comfortable bed. Lots of wardrobe space. Excellent location: close to train and bus station, shops, main square, port (ferry to Capri). All within walking distance - but possible to get their by local bus too (quite handy for uphill way back).

Excellent hotel and facilities. Rooms are excellent, food is very good. The hotel is very central for access to the station, buses etc. 7No complaints whatsoever.

It was a little cold during the night. Heating was not on.

Beautiful hotel, room lovely, staff helpful and place is spotlessly clean. Very good breakfast and delicious evening meal.

No tea or coffee making facilities, take a travel kettle!

1. Easy walk to/from train/bus station and Sorrento centre. 2.Beautifully appointed foyer, rooms, dining room,etc. 3. Excellent breakfast/dinner. 4. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff, especially Enzo in the dining room and Annalisa on the reception desk. Slight problem with the shower was sorted promply. Found it very difficult to fault the Hotel, undoubtedly one of the best I've ever stayed in. They take customer satisfaction very seriously.

Friendly, cheerful staff - lovely room, calm/relaxing atmosphere, any issues were dealt with immediately, food was excellent - particularly the couple of dinners we had in the hotels main restaurant, but a bit more pricey than town restaurant meals, but you pay for quality! - good selection at breakfast. We were pleased not to have booked half board as the evening meal was too rich/fussy to eat each evening and would have been wasted. Mainly couples staying at the hotel - only a few young children. No big groups to make a couple seem left out. Other guests were quiet and discreet - they spoke but also wanted their privacy - no forced friendliness! Closeness to railway/buses and main square an advantage - but hotel was in a quiet area with a lovely walk through an orangery to the town centre.

Swimming pools were cold! - but it was April and outdoor!

Would definitely recommend this hotel, it about a ten minute walk from the centre of Sorrento, the room was beautiful and the staff friendly and professional. Would recommend the sea view, worth the extra money to have a fabulous view of the Bay of Naples and Versuvius; the garden view rooms overlook apartment blocks. We previously stayed in the Bellvue Syrene which is gorgeous and very central but is now very expensive and so the Grand hotel de la ville is very good value for some very good facilities.

Location and view (once we got the room we booked)

Unfortunately, even though we booked and confirmed 5 months in advance, the hotel downgraded us as they had let someone else have our room. After 2 nights in a downgraded rioom we moved to the room we booked. Check carefully that this hotel has not double booked, as we heard of others that had to find another hotel for this reason.
