10 out of 10 for the 'wow' factor. Very impressive hotel and gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. We arrived at 9am and were treated to breakfast while our room was made ready. If only every Hotel Manager was as polite, helpfull and proffessional as he was! The staff, Franco and Maria were excellent. Anna was the cleaner for our floor and was also excellent. An amazing experience all round. We had read reports of the area around the hotel being run down and scruffy. It was just a normal Italian rural area with a choice of restaurants/snack bars around it. Not pretentious just people living and making a living! Cannot wait to go back and sample it all again. No bottle opener for the beer/juice in the mini-bar. Sorry.................best I could manage.

The hotel «La Medusa» is absolutely fantastic. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Amalfian Coast and Pompei. The rooms are bright and spotless, the gardens amazing, the food excellent, the performance of the staff very professional and the view over the mount Vesuvio stunning. In brief, «La Medusa» is synonymous with peace, tranquility and outstanding service. It's home away from home.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food (and breakfasts) are fantastic, and the swimming pool and garden is absolutely beautiful. The room was first rate too, and we were upgraded so we ended up with a gorgeous view of Vesuvius. Absolutely fantastic hotel!

Gardens were beautiful. Staff very attentive, manager welcomes all guests personally. Rooms were very nice, hotel pool was phenomenal overlooking Mt Vesuvius. Landscaping, statues, food...all representative of a 5 star hotel. Restaurant was quite expensive. Dinner was very good but pricey. Sandwiches at lunch were terrible. Lots of weddings and private parties going on, so if you are looking for peace and quiet this is not the place for you.

The gardens are out of this world and are the perfect venue for weddings. The pool is also excellent. The service was top class, particularly in the restaurants.

A beautiful hotel with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Gardens and hotel decor are gorgeous, room was beautiful. Location was not great. Didn't realize that it was so hard to get into Sorrento or Pompei (our reason for traveling to southern Italy) on the train - the Circumvesuviana. Hotel is located a 15 minute shuttle or taxi ride outside of Castellemare de Stabia, a fairly gritty urban center that is 15 minutes or more by train (crowded, dirty, no seats ever available) from where you want to go for meals/sightseeing, and 45 minute ride on same train from Naples station.

The manager was very helpful. The restaurant was good. Don't take a room near the lift shaft - you can hear people leaving early in the hallway.

The hotel is beautifully refurbished with a mixture of traditional and modern style. The staff are very attentive without being over bearing and the manager is tremendous constantly keeping a quiet eye on all happening around him and checking you are comfortable and all your needs are being met. The bedrooms are very nice although, typically Italian, a little on the small side. Each evening there was a themed dinner, which took place in one of the three restaurants our dinner was reasonably priced at 45 euros for three courses and wines were again not too expensive. The only thing I can say is the beds and pillows for our personal comfort were a little hard.

This hotel is wonderful, clean, comfortable and friendly staff. The grounds are amazing, with lemon, orange and lime trees. Lovely large pool with large deck space for relaxing. Wonderful views of Vesuvius and Gulf of Naples. (Ask for sea view when reserving a room). The only issue with this hotel it is a little out of the way from restaurants, it was ok for us because we had a car. The hotel will organize taxis etc and I think they have a shuttle to Pompeii during the day.

The hotel itself is very beautiful - nice old-fashioned building, huge orange garden around, quiet pool area. The staff is super polite and helpful (sometimes nearly to the extreme). Well located between Sorrento / Amalfi coast and Naples / Pompei You would very much benefit from having a car. The town itself (Castellamare di Stabia) has nothing to offer, but there are all the beauties of Amalfi coast and Pompei within a 30 minutes drive. If you have a car you will be able to enjoy all the advantages of this area. The beaches in this area are gorgeous, but as they are not plentiful, they are quite crowded on the weekends, need to book your bed and umbrella in advance and even if you are lucky to get ones, it feels very packed. But overall if you are fine with driving a bit, the hotel has no flaws.

Hotel was difficult to find even with GPS. Hotel staff were polite and informative. Hotel grounds were beautiful and clean. Breakfast selection was poor. Hotel should offer more fresh fruit and not canned. Pastries tasted old left over from wedding parties (three weddings during our stay). I was expecting a better breakfast for such a nice hotel. Dinner was overpriced and was not anything special. It a good hotel for families who want to rest and enjoyed the pool. Location is not convenient for sightseeing. Hotel shuttle has a set schedule to take you to the harbor if you want to take the ferry to Capri. Harbor area was very dirty and smelly. Did not feel comfortable walking around. Breakfast and Location.

La Medusa is an oasis of tranquility away from the maddening Italian drivers and scooter riders. We were upgraded to a luxury room as it was our 30th wedding anniversary. Nothing was too much trouble for Francesco and his excellent team. Although it was off season when we visited and the hotel restaurant was closed, they recommended the La Brace restaurant to us which was just 50 metres away. I recommend it too. Warm, friendly and very reasonable. All in all, a very enjoyable stay. Well done La Medusa... a home away from home. Castelamare itself is a bit rough and the streets are chaotic to say the least! But none of that is the hotel's fault. As i said before, peace and tranquility the whole way.

“The VIEW! The STAFF! The RESTAURANT! The ROOM! Every room seemed to have one of the best views of the Coast line and Amalfi. At check in, when the receptionist said we have you in a lovely water view, I thought to myself that he has to say that about all rooms, when my wife and I entered the room after the porter, he dropped our bags and then opened the blinds which showed a metal shutter, I was getting worried, he then pressed a button beside the bed which opened the shutter and our grin grew with every centimetre that the blind opened to show one of the best views that we had experienced during our trip to Italy. The room was extremely comfortable, clean and serviced well, after working in hospitalty and staying in many different styles of hotels I found the room decor nice but a little dated this was all made up for in that view and all the facilities that came with the hotel and the customer friendly staff that would go out of their way to please without "putting it on" for show. They all seemed genuine in their approach to the guests. Would come back and stay here in a heartbeat, After travelling from our hotel along the entire Amalfi coast and seeing what else there was on offer this hotel still beats all the others on location in my opinion.” Drew, St Lucia |
