The location, near city centre I did not like the attitude of the reception, they downgraded us from top floor to simpler room on 3rd floor with no word of apology or any form of compensation. Breakfast was poor, you need to pay to get fried eggs. We were repeatedly disturbed by phone calls from reception. No, I really did not like the experience

The relaxed feel. Although the staff provided all the necessary services impeccably, all was done discreetly so we were free to relax and enjoy our holiday. We loved the pool on the roof and its stunning views. The pool is, perhaps, a little chilly for most tastes - I cringed a little when I saw a baby being lowered into it; but for us it was very refreshing. The location is perfect and is particularly well placed for day trips from the nearby station. The staff were great, they did there job well and also managed to remain helpful and friendly. Although the hotel is situated on a popular square, as our rooms were tucked towards the back of the hotel, they were remarkably quiet. As we were with children this was very much appreciated, they, and we, could enjoy relaxed and undisturbed sleep in the lovely comfortable beds. Considering this is Italy, I was surprised at the standard of the morning coffee! It was ok, but not as good as I would expect to receive in Italy!

The location was great. Except for the reception staff the other staff members, in particular the staff from the breakfast area was rude and before the end of the meal I was asked if I wanted anything else once they were closing the buffet (before the hour which was estipulated by the hotel as breakfast). The room did not have a safe box and the phone of the room was out of order and nobody fixed. It is overpriced and does not fit a 4 star hotel.

The location was great - short walk from the train station and to all the major attractions. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and the staff very attentive. We could not have asked for a better hotel. The shower had a problem with water pressure and keeping the temperature regular. More of a problem in the morning. The hotel was also located next to an ambulance company so you would definitely hear sirens throughout the day and night - I would not recommend if you are a light sleeper.

It was our first visit to your hotel and Florence and what made our visit so special was staying at the hotel and receiving your offer for an upgrade. That made our visit very special. Our room was very lovely. We also enjoyed the lovely swimming pool which was a nice feature of your hotel - to relax by the pool after enjoying the beautiful city. We would definitely come again. Thanks very much for making our visit so special. Breakfast was great too with a lovely food display. The decor and comfort of restaurant was very inviting. It would have been nice to enjoy a bar person by the pool as your bar in reception really didin't appeal in layout - it wasn't very inviting in layout or appearance, rather dated I must say. More people would have benefited a better bar service by the pool, pariticularly when the weather was so lovely. You would have made more money too. ;o)

Hotel was a in a great location a few blocks from the train station - an easy walk even with luggage with rollers. Upgraded our room to one with plenty of space that looks out on the large courtyard in front of the church. Opened our walk-out windows to the balconies and listened to a great 2-hour evening concert taking place in the square. Staff was courteous and helpful. Room had king-size bed and was spacious. Bath was nice. Enjoyed inclusive breakfasts. Very good value. No complaints with anything about this hotel.

The hotel is very well situated and gives fantastic view over the square. The furniture/chairs in the room needs an upgrade and the same goes for the TV system

My sister and I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. We chose the hotel as my nephew had stayed with his wife on a previous ocassion and recommended it. It was also very convenient for access to the many tourist areas and shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were not too pleased with our room location as it overlooked the internal area of the hotel and the view was of other bedroom windows, we did ask for a room with a view and were told that the hotel was full. Also we were unable to control the Air Conditioning and found the room to be too hot, we didn't like to leave the window open at night as there was a wooden terrace directly outside and anybody could have climbed out of their window into ours. I would only stay again if I had a better room.

The room was elegant and very comfortable. The superior double room is a split level room, with stairs leading up to a beautiful spa bathroom. The hotel is situated in the heart of downtown, accessible to shopping, museums and restaurants. The staff are exceptional and were able to co- ordinate museum tickets, dinner reservations and taxi service for me. They were also very helpful in helping me with walking directions. The breakfast buffet is large with a big variety to choose from . Everything is very fresh, and you are seated and looked after immediately. The hotel is beautiful and well looked after. I would definitely stay here again. Sometimes there was a foul smell outside the room, and also on the main floor. This lasted a couple of days.

Female reception staff were very friendly and helpful, as were Roberto (the barman at the roof-top pool bar) and the porters. The superior double room was clean, large, comfortable, nicely furnished and had a great bathroom too. Free wifi was avaialable throughout the hotel and two free computers were also available for use. Good Sky tv options. The male breakfast waiters were moody and looked like they didn't enjoy their jobs, house-keeping could be slow & a bit complacent, noise from the piazza at night (we were in a front room overlooking it) was bad: Drunks use the square to drink & chillax and one even brought a microphone to sing. There were also ambulance sirens as they are dispatched from this square and we sometimes didn't get to sleep till 2.30am. But if you can stand the noise then this hotel is great!

The reason we chose this hotel was because it had a rooftop pool. This was great to have as it was very hot. The service, however, was a non event at the 'pool bar'. Service not great but other than that a good hotel to be within walking distance of most piazzas etc.

We both loved the contemporary stylish rooms that the Minerva has to offer as well as spending time in the lovely rooftop pool at the end of the day overlooking the city. The staff were very friendly, helpful and it felt they all worked well as a team to make your stay special. The Minerva is one of the best hotels i have stayed in - thankyou x Nothing - everything was fantastic

Position was excellent, staff where lovely, breakfast was plentiful. Pillows were hard, guest bed was extremely uncomfortable, should really add a proper single bed using the wall. For the price i was a little disappointed on the quality of the suite and view.

“I love my stay at this hotel. The staff is really friendly and helpful (especially to advise on restaurants ;) . The value for money is really good, not too expensive but still chic and really good quality hotel. I was really impressed by how 'clean' it was also. The breakfast buffet is fab! and the bar is cool! The location is awesome as you are right in the centre! Fantastic! And also no city noise or anything! I strongly recommend it! ” Samia, Leeds |

“There was not really anything that i did not like about the hotel or my stay at Laurus Al Duomo. It was excellent! But probably the best thing about this hotel is it location, 400m to the Central Train Station, a few hundred metres to the Cathedral and Tower, walking distance to everything, all the sites, shopping restaurants and street entertainment... just fantastic.” Ryan, Warana |
