We booked a double room just 5 days before arrival and were more than surprised when we were given a suite. This hotel is PERFECT.
- Requested and received a room with a front view. Nice location overlooking Piazza d' Santa Maria Novela. - Easy walk from main train station and also easy access to main Florence sites. - Generous morning breakfast.
- Bathroom was particularly tight even for 1. - Pillows are typical of Italy and not very comfortable.
The lady at the reception was very helpful when I asked her to change my room cause it was a bit small for me, she was kind enough to move to me to a much bigger room
Good location & the rooftop pool & bar was nice to have & make use of in the evenings.
It's an impersonal hotel. Nothing wrong with it but we weren't really made to feel that we were being looked after either.
Location overlooking the square, super breakfast, cleanliness, helpful reception staff.
arrival of noisy music-makers in the square late in the evening.
Too much noise outside the hotel throughout the night. People was playing music. Complain for several time to front desk n the responses is they can not do anything. They said they call the police but they won't come. Not sure what is that meant.
Excellent location. Close to railway station; close to city centre.
Noisy square during the night hours.
- Very helpfull staff. From the concierge to the reception and from the cleaning personnel to the restaurant!!! Always eager to help you with a smile. Especially Ms. Silvia in the reception! - Great location. Everything is nearby - The breakfast buffet. Not the widest variety, but great quality! And the staff in the restaurant was amazing!
- The room we had was facing the front. The view was good, but the noise levels were elevated. This, in combination with not modern windows made it difficult to sleep well. The majority of the noise (spontaneous youngsters playing music) stopped around 00:15 on Thursday and around 01:15 on Friday. But you can always ask for a room in the back.
Very good and convenient location. Good personal and breakfast service.
Computer in the internet room was very slow and internet service slow.
We had a huge bedroom and spacious bathroom, and great furnishings. the kettle and range of teas/coffees was much appreciated. Staff were always a pleasure to deal with - and so helpful for practical things - laundromats, banks and opening times of attractions. The roof top area was bliss and the views were amazing from there and our room. Warmly reccomended
only one of the power points in the room worked and that was the one in the bathroom, which made charging up electronic stuff a bit fraught. Also the height of the shower was low - for us tall people it meant showering on our knees - a bit awkward.
Attentive staff- helped me plan surprise birthday celebration, great breakfast. Little things - umbrellas avail for sudden cloudbursts, good restaurant suggestions!
Location Roof-top swimming pool Breakfast
Room on piazza can be very noisy
Loved location and comfort.
Traffic free central position a very short walk from Bus & station in a light and uncongested spot. would return tomorrow.
The Hotel rooms were of a good standard and loved the roof terrace.
The noise from the buildings next door, but not the fault of the hotel.
Nice rooms Good breakfast and facilities Helpful staff
Noise from outside rooms Noise from piazza
terrible rooftop bartender and service there Standard room very small Internet reception awful
since my retirement 13 years ago I spend more than 60 nights a year in hotels mostly in Asia and Europe this is the worst value for money; the room was unacceptable for the price paid.
What makes frequent travelers such as us choose the same hotel in Firenze year after year? It's not just the beautiful property, the great location, the delicious food or the spectacular rooms, it's the staff. Some of the finest hotel staff in all of Europe work at the Hotel Grand Minerva. It's so nice to see and interact with attentive, professional and helpful (and funny!) hotel staff who go out of their way to make the vacation a special time. The front desk team (along with the concierges) arranged fabulous tours, advised us on out-of-the-way restaurants and encouraged us to try new things. They remember us every year (hopefully in a good way!).
The charm of the old-world style hotel is wonderful and the rooms are fully modernized. The only slight annoyance is the "old fashioned" room key (typically only 1 key for the room). I honestly wouldn't want the hotel to change the key system but it is slightly annoying when traveling with companions and there is only 1 key. Perhaps a back-up key for each room or 2 keys per room? We've always stayed in the family suites so maybe the 1-key issue is specific to those rooms (then again, a family suite implies multiple people which could mean multiple keys needed).
location, room, view of piazza, rooftopbar, pool and views. In fact everything about our stay was great.
10 min walk to the centre. Everything very very clean. Light bright stylish décor. Romantic feel to rooms (or was that just me falling in love?)! comfortable bed and quality bedding.
Very strong air freshner in reception and sitting area. A tad expensive, but hey.
Beautiful hotel: well run with happy, friendly and supremely helpful staff. Surely one of the most superb location for a rooftop pool overlooking the Duomo. This is the place to stay in summer in Florence.
Small air conditioning/extractor fan noise on fifth floor from fans on roof. A tiny discomfort for a gorgeous view
A good hotel, kind service, good breakfast
Music in the square in front of the hotel untill after midtnight
Breakfast and location are great
Expensive for what it offers
Place is run down. Old shabby furniture and our room had a cracked toilet seat and cracked shower door repaired with tape.
