Best Western Grand Hotel Royal    

Excellent garden!

The hotel is very grand and although dated in some ways it would be a shame to ruin it's original features. The breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from. All the staff were friendly and helpful anf the wi-fi very useful. Viareggio is ideal as a beach holiday and as a base for visiting Pisa and Florence. The train station has direct trains to both.

Room was clean and wide. Receptionist was very kind.

The whole Hotel had a good feel to it and the staff were very helpful in all aspects.The town is very nice.

Signed up to Best western card but was told when paying the Bill that because we hadn't booked direct they could not be added..

Old style 'grandeur' of the hotel and the exceptionally large, private and well-maintained outdoor pool. The staff were very attentive and friendly and quick to deal with any problems. Excellent base to visit the many interesting and historical towns & cities in the area

Nothing to dislike and would definitely book the Royal when next in Viarreggio

Perfect location to enjoy the beach or the sea view, or for day trips to Lucca, Pisa, Portofino. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip.

Good breakfast options. Great location right in the centre of town along the beach strip. We hired bikes and took a nice ride along the foreshore. The pool was closed still for us but it looks like it would be great in summer.

Everything. Beautiful building, charming staff and a great position. The breakfast was excellent. Will definitely stay ther again but will have to check that their plumbing in the bathroom (although clean) has been improved..

The outdated bathroom with an awful shower and luke warm water. When I told the manager about it the following day he was most apologetic but he will have an uphill struggle to sort it out. The cental heating was very efficient.

Style of hotel and service was very good

This is an real 20's style luxury hotel. We loved being there and our room had a beautiful sea view. Lovely.

Drainage could be better. When we left, my husband had to wade through water to get to the car in the parking lot. It was a big downpour, but still it seemed like something that could have been anticipated.

Best Western in Viareggio is utterly fabulous. We were lucky to get a sea view at a value price and spent 3 nights at the hotel. The view was stunning and as the hotel faces the sunset, this was a glorious spectacle almost every night we were there. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They were all gracious and warm. We loved the feel of the hotel which has a slight air of "faded grandeur" - very high ceilings, beautifully proportioned rooms, and a lovely balcony. We enjoyed the breakfasts which were generous. Also we swam in the hotel pool which we weren't expecting would be open in early October.

Very comfortable with relaxing garden and pool area. Excellent staff. We were allocated room 403 which had its own sitting room and extra bedroom with mountain view.

About a mile from the centre of town, railway and bus stations, so got a little bored with the walk back and forth along the promenade. Access to the beach, across the road from hotel, expensive.
