Grand Hotel Villa IgieaSalita Belmonte 43, 90142 Palermo (Show map)
Very good,
Score from 209 reviews
“ About as good a location as you'll find in Palermo, not an easy city. This is a very nice hotel with lovely garden, patio and pool area located outside of the main city and looking out on the port. The hotel restaurant was much better than expected, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. On-site parking was thankfully included in the cost. ”

hotel was lovely, pool area good, rooms clean and well kept. waiting staff not very attentive, had to wait a long time to be served in bar area. meals were expensive as as drinks were, wouldnt be so bad if we had the option to eat & drink outside of the hotel.

A beautiful hotel where I felt truly spoilt! It's very grand, but not at all intimidating due to it's design. The staff were helpful and polite when we asked them directions to the train station, etc. There was an enormous choice for breakfast, from cereals, cold meats and cheeses, to pastries, salads, hot breakfast items (mushrooms, sausages, crepes, waffles, eggs, etc) and a makeyour own cannoli area. There were bottles of water on ice to have with breakfast, and champagne if you needed a hair of the dog! The terrace and pool were lovely to sit and while away the hours in the Sicilian sun. I want to go back! Unfortunately we didn't have a sea view room, and part of our view was blocked by shutters that didn't open and a wooden board (maybe from signage) on the outside.

High ceilings and a feeling of space. Friendly and helpful staff. Proximity to Palermo. Taxis station outside Hotel means no need for car. Breakfast disappointing and regarded as poor value.

This is a lovely historic hotel. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom was modern. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet and the staff gave us a great suggetion for dinner in Palermo. The location is not convenient to the town, but you can catch a bus a short walk from the hotel.

Beautiful position. Lovely slightly faded charm. Expensive taxis! Hotel out of town centre so over reliant on taxis.

The history of the hotel and the many years of grandeur evident. Alas when we arrived at 7.70pm 15th March only one restaurant was open and could not accomodate us for dinner. We uuse Room Service which was satisfactory enough.

We had a quiet room with a sea view after requesting a change from a very noisy room at the front of the Hotel. We paid extra for this change. The outside garden setting and pool area were scenic and peaceful. Breakfast was enjoyable, especially sitting outside and staff were professional and attentive. Parking was provided on site which meant our rental car was secure from theft or damage. We were not prepared to pay for WiFi, as we did not feel this should be an extra cost on top of the high room prices. Restaurant was also quite expensive, but there were few other eating places near the hotel. Carpets were stained in both the rooms we used, although daily cleaning was regular and efficient.

About as good a location as you'll find in Palermo, not an easy city. This is a very nice hotel with lovely garden, patio and pool area located outside of the main city and looking out on the port. The hotel restaurant was much better than expected, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. On-site parking was thankfully included in the cost. 1) No air conditioning after November 1 (same is true throughout most of Italy; 2) due to location, it is not walkable to get to the old town, or restaurants or other sights in Palermo - taxis are very expensive, but especially at night the choice is to take a taxi or eat in the hotel restaurant; 3) although not outrageously expensive, it is pricey

Nice location if you don't like to stay directly in the city. We had a car and it was perfect to head towards the beaches and the near mountains. Bathroom could have been better locked after. It was very clean, but place looked a little bit run down in parts e.g. shower broke because of age. The room itself was perfect.

Front desk reception staff very friendly & helpful Good position overlooking the sea Breakfast outside Breakfast food Extremely convenient shuttle bus Historic photographs on the walls Absence of convenient free wi-fi in room (a must for a 5 star hotel) Abysmal attitude of restaurant staff, especially the sommelier when we complained about the quality of wine Poorly trained waiters (stretched across clients, etc) Noise from flagpoles kept us awake in room 320 Dirty carpets Slow and small elevators Inconveniently located for outside restaurants

Luxurious hotel with big rooms and almost everything you could need at your fingertips. Lots of entertainment areas too. No iron or ironing board. No complimentary tea/coffee in your room. No laundry to do your own washing. Paying the high price per room every night, WiFi should be complementary. I stayed in some 3* hotels in Italy where WiFi WAS complimentary.

The gardens and location are beautiful. The interior something of a deco time-warp, which they have wisely (unlike the Savoy!) largely preserved. The conference room is spectacular and I spent a while enjoying the Boldini. For adults an enchanting experience in a romantic atmopsphere. The staff were very helpful. The dinner on our Saturday night was good, on the expensive side, but spoilt by rather a long delay between courses.

I would like to offer special praise for Ignazio, who went out of his way to offer exceptional service during a medical situation. This is the best and kindest service I have ever been offered at any hotel in the world, Ignazio should be promoted to the highest level! Please thank him again on my behalf and tell him I have sent you this glowing report.

Grand Hotel Villa Igiea is a home away from home and set amongst stunning grounds. It has a lot of history on it and is a most comfortable stay when travelling. They have a stunning breakfast area, it was so nice to have a cappucinno overlooking the bay. Service was excellent! Special thanks to Ignazio on the front desk for his efficiency and helping us organise things when in Palermo. Lack of free WiFi is one thing that could be improved on. They also have a lovely bar and pool area that close at 6:30 and 7:30pm respectively which is a bit early in summer time especially if you've been out all day and want to have a late dip in the pool late at night. This isn't a negative comment at all but if you are interested in staying here then the average age of the hotel guests is 50+ and families with children. Being 30somethings we did feel slightly young but for a one night stay it wasn't a problem. The hotel is ideal for couples on holidays looking for a lovely place to stay, it would be a lovely place to propose!

The staff were great, especially the man by the pool/bar. Charming and helpful. Nothing was too much bother. The concierge chap was lovely as was reception. Beds were comfortable. Shuttle bus in and out of Palermo was an absolute god send having attempted to drive in Palermo at the start of our trip and nearly killing each other - avoid driving in Palermo, super stressful! :) It was perfect to stay out of the hub of it all, halfway to Mondello but still be able to get into the centre asap. Silly things like charging for wifi, no proper hair dryer, didnt have an iron board and iron yet for guests to use upon request
