Hotel Anfiteatro Flavio is in a 19th-century building in Via dei Serpenti, the most popular of Rome's Monti district. In about 10 minutes you can walk to both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

Hotel Canova is just down the road from the beautiful basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, in the heart of Rome. Walk to the Coliseum in less than 10 minutes. This small hotel was once a monastery.

Remote for TV not working. Lightbulbs were burned out causing dark room. Bathrooms are small.
Grifo has the best location if you are looking for a place to stay close to everything important in Rome.

Everything. The hotel was more like a hostel dressing up as a hotel, the bed was just a camping bed with a madras on top. The breakfast was a joke, everything tasted horrible. The staff was very rude, we had a baby with us and needed hot water for his food, and they once refused to help us, another time they claimed they didn't have matches to light the stove. They often asked us about our plans, and always tried to manipulate us to do something else. If we were going to a restaurant, they told us this restaurant never bought fresh vegetables and tried to send us to another restaurant. We asked for directions for the forum romanum, they told us we should go there because it was raining. We imagined a horrible mud- chaos but of course it was nothing to worry about. If this had been a cheap hotel, I wouldn't have reacted on the tiny rooms, the lack of services and facilities, the horrible breakfast and the tiny elevator that often didn't work. But we paid around 150 euros per night, and for that sum, this hotel is DEFINITIVELY not worth the money.
The location was good, with walking distance to several sights. Also short distance to many restaurants.

This is a quiet neighborhood and has no "sights" We speak Italian and love to walk so for us it was a joy. Lots of cafes restaurants and small stores. Wonderful staff.

Rooms are run down, electrical sockets were insecure and water in the shower either very hot or just cold.
Great location for all major Rome attractions. Some decent restaurants close by.

The location was just right for our 4 night stay in Rome. We only used the metro once to visit the Vatican but could have walked it (had decided to save our legs for the Vatican tour) There are plenty of places to eat just a stones throw from the hotel. The reception staff were very helpful giving us a local map and marking on it main sights and which tourist trap areas to avoid.

Air conditioner is noisy and it seems that there is no hot water from 1am to 6 am( I am not sure about the exact time)
The location is very good. The room is a little cosy but nice. Breakfast is brilliant and the work staff are kind an warm

no elevator because of new building

Kind of weak wifi signal on the first floor. In our room some of the floor tiles where a little bit shaky, so we tripped a few times.
Perfect location, just 2 mins away from Cavour metro station with good connection to most of the sights. Nice breakfast, big balcony, clean rooms. They switched our towels and bes sheets every day. Very helpful and friendly staff!

What kind of a hotel of any standard doesn't have a proper shower- this was like putting your head above a dripping tap...
Some of the staff are okay

We enjoyed the location. The free breakfast and the staff was overall amazing.

Breakfast a bit meagre but fresh and very edible. Intimate elevator.
Grifo was great. Perfecty location. Helpful staff who have a dry humour.. 3 Indian restaurants within 50ms if you fancy a break from P & P. (Recommend Guru round the corner).

Rooms and beds are small, but it's understandable as it's a historical building.
Stayed with my sister. Amazing location, walked everywhere, didn't use public transport all. Lots of shopping options around. Good local places to eat, try Taverna dei Monti, good food and at affordable price. Clean and warm rooms, good wifi signal, good breakfast, plenty to choose from. Very polite and helpful staff. Rooms are cleaned every day. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend to others.

Room is very spartan.... Just the very basics. Tea and coffee facilties would be an asset and even an iron. Had trouble even hunting up a plug for the sink.
This hotel is in a fantastic location. You can actually see the Colosseum from outside. Lovely cobbled streets, great restaurants nearby and the major sights are walkable. Very helpful tips from staff about visits to the busy locations. Reasonably sized clean, basic room, but you are not in Rome to sit in a room anyway. Good breakfast.

The rooms and ensuite are very small but kept clean and tidy. It was hard to find places to keep towels/ our luggage out of the way!
Very hospitable staff that spoke many different languages with ease. Breakfast was plentiful.

Not a lot of space in general, tiny room but for two people it is not that bad. Breakfast nothing special very basic and they charge for extras!
Great location, friendly staff. The room was warm and clean!

the bathroom; was tiny and needed care. the breakfast procedure was not easy to follow.
January 11, 2015
The location......very near to all the major sights. We even made it to the Vatican on foot, though it is 40 mins away. You could wait for the bus, but there is a lot to see on the way. The breakfast was quite good too.
