On the right bank of Rome's Tiber River, Hotel Sant'Angelo is in a historic building, just half a mile from the Spanish Steps. It offers free Wi-Fi and rooms with private bathrooms.
Score from 1400 reviews Very good
Bettoja Nord Nuova Roma is a classic 1930s-style hotel offering soundproof rooms with satellite TV, a restaurant, and free Wi-Fi. It is a 5 minute walk from Roma Termini Train Station.
Score from 1239 reviews Good
Located across from the impressive Viminale Palace and near Rome's Opera Theatre, Hotel Dorica has bright, air-conditioned rooms with private bathroom and satellite TV.
Score from 518 reviews Very good
Hotel Serena is set within walking distance of Termini Train Station, which is just around the corner. The area offers many typical restaurants.
Score from 1474 reviews Very good
The hotel is in a vibrant and interesting part of Rome, close to most main features with lots of funky little shops and cafés around. Staff were great at advising on interesting places to visit and eat. Very helpful. Our room was on 5th floor, good size (except for shower!) and quiet but bit basic for price. Terrace was a nice added bonus.
Tiny shower. Bed a bit saggy.
Everything else was great.
Beds are very uncomfortable.
The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk from the colosseum. The street it is in has some really delightful and quirky shops and also some lovely restaurants. We were only there for two nights but I wish we could have stayed a few more.
The room was small for three people but that's ok we managed for a couple of nights.
As said before: great location, you can walk around the main sites of Rome enjoying a fresh and classical roman neighborhood. Excellent staff (thanks Alessandro) always ready to help and suggest trips in the city.
The location is ideal for getting to sites and buses or underground. The staff were friendly and leaving our cases on the last day of our stay after checking out was no problem at all as our flight was in the evening. Wifi was no problem and yes the rooms are tiny and the bathroom very tiny but we coped!
The breakfast was very basic and had run out on our final day even though we arrived for breakfast half an hour before it was supposedly finished. The air conditioning did not really work so the heat of August meant uncomfortable nights.
Staff were great... friendly and very helpful. Position of Hotel in a lovely quiet street.
Small shower Basic breakfast
Staff were very nice
The paint was chipping of the walls. There was a ring of mold on the shower roof and on the tiles. There was a press to hang clothes in. That stank of dirty, mold dust and dampness. We also were not given the room we were supposed to have gotten. According to booking.com we were supposed to be in a opposite building. We were not put in that room.
The staff were very friendly and helpful & we were given some very good recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. We had a private balcony with our room which was a bonus. Breakfast was good.
However long you ran the shower for, the temperature was never more than slightly lukewarm.
location staff quirkiness
lack of decent ventilation bathroom a bit grubby attention to detail- curtain hanging off rail
Staff extremely educated and friendly. Always ready to help. Room was Ok Location is a 10 minutes walk to colisseum and 5min to metro Cavour
No Air Conditioning (damage and was not fixed during my 5 nights stay). Hotel staff manage to get us a fan, but it was not what we paid for. Breakfast finish at 10, but if you go down at 9:45 there was nothing left. Room was full of ants. Wifi was not working in the room, I needed to stand int he door to get a slight signal.
The location was excellent! Also, close to a metro station. The staff was kind, knew English very well and gave superb suggestions concerning restaurants and things to see. The wifi was perfect. The room and bed were a bit small, but we had already read about this on the bookings.com website before booking... Breakfast was simple, but good.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, with friendly staff. Our room was really small, but knew that before we booked! Very handy location, plenty of restaurants within a 5 minute walk and only 5-10 mins walk to the Colloseum.
The breakfast was only so-so, coffee wasn't very good!
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. High marks to both Simone and Angelo at the check in desk. Very attentive and very friendly. The location was excellent at 6 blocks from the Colosseum and Forum, and it was good living in the "old city of Rome"
The hotel has clearly been around for a long time and shows its age. The rooms are small as are the beds. The air conditioning was noisy and their were no english TV channels (not that we watched much TV). If you are expecting USA style hotels, this will disappoint
Hotel Grifo is close to everything. We didn't need to step in one cab or bus or train while in Rome. Everything was a few steps away, most main attractions within 25 mins walk; even the further ones were <45 mins away. Friendly, informative staff. If tired at night, you have many medium size restaurants (indian, brazilian, mexican, ... and of course italian) in <5 mins walking. Safe neighborhood; we strolled around day&night. The continental breakfast was just OK. Nothing fancy. If looking for better alternatives, the cafe that's steps away from the hotel has better menu. Great A+ location in Rome, clean and for a good price ... so don't expect luxury; the room was simple (beds, bathroom with shower, table with a small TV ... that's about it).
Staff and location
No hot water
The location is the best point for the hotel. Staff is doing their best to make your stay comfortable. Simple breakfast.
Afterr waiting for the room to be ready and check in, we found ourselves in a tinyyyyyy room -take the elevator to the top, walk out on a terrace, take another set of stairs and here we go-a tiny room, not very clean, nothing was fresh about this room. We asked for a different room and we stayed in the room they have on a separate building. Very happy, because the room was cleaner, it was quiet.
Good breakfast, excellent location, great staff.
Annex room access a bit dismal.
There are lots of hotels in this area, I chose Grifo based on comments in Booking.com. We were not disappointed! The staff is probably the best we encountered in our travels. The location cannot be beat and not just for the tourist attractions. The area is vibrant and totally hip, with lots of neighborhood bars, cafes, restaurants to explore. It was an easy walk from the train station and other transit was just minutes away. On leaving they arranged a "private taxi" for us so we know we didn't get taken advantage of on our way to the airport.
Please get new air conditioners! They were barely adequate. Additionally the breakfast needs updating. The various breads were not fresh, the meats tasted off. Some fresh fruit and eggs would have been very nice. These are minor though when compared to the pros overall.
My sister and I had a great time in Rome and stayed at Hotel Grifo for 4 days. It was a great location, the staff was friendly and helpful at all hours, breakfast was good, and the rooms were comfortable and had lovely air conditioning!
We loved the outdoor terrace! The terrace is a perfect place to sit and relax. The location of the hotel is ideal!
The hotel could definitely use the services of an interior decorator!
What this hotel lacks in room size it makes it up in location and super friendly and helpful staff.
The room was the smallest hotel room I've ever been in - difficult for two people.
small bathroom, cheap breakfast
Couldn't reccomend it more highly. We had a lovely time and next time I'm in Rome I will stay there again.
Room with terrace; walking distance to every major site; laundry service next door
Disturbed sleep caused by doors being banged shut by other guests
