Excellent stay at mecenate hotel. watched church snow festival from roof great views. Air conditioning in room so cooling after hot day . Staff friendly , rooms clean .would recommend .
Wi-fi poor .
This was our fourth stay at the Mecenate Palace, so obviously we like it. We have stayed in several other hotels in Rome, and always end up coming back here. The biggest draw is the views and location. It's literally a block from the train station in a beautiful piazza. The stunning Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica dominates the view from the hotels rooms and roof - something we never get tired of. We've stayed in three different rooms, all with a window overlooking the church and piazza. It's Roma at its finest. The rooms are not modern - don't expect it - but charming and the large beds are one bed - not two twins pushed together which we very much appreciate. Each double deluxe room has an electric kettle with coffee and tea, a mini bar with refreshments including beer and wine, and nice bathroom with double sinks and a separate shower room. The walk in closets for the rooms we've been have been huge. Sitting on the rooftop at dusk, having a glass of champagne, have been some of our best moments in Rome.
For the first time we had dinner in the restaurant on the roof during our last visit. The service was fantastic, very friendly and attentive. But sadly, the food was not nearly as wonderful, and it's expensive. In the future, we are going to stick to our drinks at dusk on the roof, and dinner elsewhere. It's the only negative in four visits, but we can't say enough positive about the wait staff - they are fantastic.
Bedding was clean, room in general kept very clean. staff are friendly and helpful. Perfect location and within short walk from a most attractions. Beautiful view from the room.
Shower was not good. Goes hot and cold very quickly, not enjoyable. Shower leaked on floor, told reception staff and said they would look at it but didnt. Given tea and coffee making facilities but no milk. Asked for milk 3 times during stay but never turned up and had to buy own. Small errors but could improve on that. other than those, perfect stay!
Very helpful staff who went out of their way to help. Good sense of humor. Fantastic Gelato next door. Very close to hop on off buses and Termi railway station. Quite a good selection for breakfast with very good coffee.
Had some trouble with the Wifi. Could not get secure connection for banking etc.
Great staff. Convenient to metro. Quality restaurant.
A little on the expensive side given condition of fixtures and facilities.
The quality of food presented at the restaurant is five star. The service by the whole team was outstanding, in particular the bar and restaurant team. The location is close to Termani and all key sites are in reasonable walking distance. The hotel is away from the crowds. The views from the roof restaurant and bar are spectacular. The hotel is not large and hence the very personal service.
Some of the area near Termani is slightly off putting but easy to ignore given the ready access to trains and buses.
Veiw from our room was excellent 511 , overall room was great
Breakfast option very poor, view from roof top bar was average due to surrounding buildings and damaged by extortionate prices 7.5 euros for 33ml bottle of nastro beer,
Amazing staff beautiful rooms and surroundings in a fab location! Thank you!
The restraunt is very elegant and it has great view. Good taste. The manager is very friendly to eveybody.
Well, my room is very very moist!!! On the last night I was staying, I asked twice for new sheets. The fist time was before sleep and second time was in 4:30am!!! The sheet and cover were so so moist so I woke up!!! Meanwhile, the room was always very cold and I have to turn the air condition off all the time. Even I felt moist at the first night (as I thought if I keep open the windows during the day time would be better), I didn't tell the reception for their convenience. But the last night was most unforgivable because I felt as wet as I was sleeping on the grass!!! So I asked the staff to sent me new sheets. At 4:30am that day (11th Aug 2014) I woke up due to feeling cold and moist, so I called the reception for help. The man who was working at that night was named 'Marishes' (I am not sure my spellings). After I told him my situations, he blamed me for turned the air conditioner off!!! And then asked me: 'what do u want !?' I was very frustrated with his attitude!!! I can't believe I can hear this from a 4 star hotel receptionist!!!! I was not happy with his answer of course, in particular I have to get up very early next morning. He didn't show any considerations and simpsy on this and he even angry with my complaining!!! He asked me what was my solutions and I asked for more sheets I order to save time for my sleep. After I told him I going to let manager knows about this and he was not happy straight away!!! He just said: 'ok, I send u some sheets that's it.' He just hung up the phone without confirmation that was all I need!!! So called back twice and he just ignored my calls!!!! This is first time I was facing such arrogant staff ever!!! Also a not confortable room ever!!! I hope that magager can see this and give him a lesson in order to further disappointment for other customer.
location Roof Terrace
smell of the towels
Pretty much everything about this hotel is wonderful. The rooms are lovely, maintaining the character of the building but modern as well. The rooftop restaurant and bar afford great views and the staff are exceptional.
The roof top breakfast was upstaged by the spectacular ambiance and the views. The cold selections were more than adequate but the hot selections left something to be desired.
Choose hotel for its close proximity to the train station and it was better than we expected. Given a room a couple of doors down from the hotel itself and we were very happy with the room. Just off an open courtyard ,the room was large with space not often seen in a European hotel room, the bathroom was also large with a spa bath. The bed was comfortable and in a quite location. Staff were very professional and friendly and it is definitely worth trying the roof top bar and restaurant for a drink and to enjoy the wonderful view of Rome . Would recommend this hotel while visiting the historical city .
Perfect location within easy reach of Termini,Metro and many of the sights. Friendly Staff Lovely and reasonably priced restaurant
Efficient, helpful, friendly staff. Excellent beds and linen, changed daily - very good nights sleep. Central location with easy access to anywhere.
Buffet breakfasts can be much the same so perhaps a daily change of something. Eg. peaches instead of watermelon. Perhaps I am nit picking!!!
I like the location of the hotel as it is very close to termini just 5 min. Walking and to many top attractive of rome , like collesum 10 min walk . The room size is reasonable comparing to Europe standard , breakfast is in average , it has lovely terrace overlooking in a great view
There is no iron in the room
Staff. Breakfast. Location
Staff, room, location, cleaned from top to bottom :)
Nothing bad to say
walking distance to many places of interests and feeling safe.
Location, cleanless, comfortable
City sightseeing bus company tickets that the hotel sells (Ciao Roma) was the worst ever i have seen, bus comes every 30 minutes whereas the others comes every 5 minutes. The breakfast is very weak, we couldn't find anyting to eat
View from Roof Garden Restaurant, where breakfast is served as well, is charming. Street (metered) parking usually available and quite convenient. Helpful front desk. The third bed in the triple room is a real bed, not a sofa bed, the way it should be in all hotels that advertise triple rooms.
The lift was out of order for several hours. Quality of wifi service should be improved.
comfort breakfast quality location
We spent a fabulous 4 day break at this beautiful hotel, very nice room, lovely and quiet and the staff were wonderful. Nice a central and a metro stop at the end of the street so very easy to get around Rome. Beautiful view from the terrace top breakfast room & good variety of food available.
Nothing all was great
