Cardinal Hotel St. Peter is one mile from the Vatican, and offers views of Saint Peter's Basilica from most rooms and its summer panoramic terrace with hot tubs.
Score from 1352 reviews Good
Close to Rome's Tiber River, Visconti Palace Hotel features designer rooms and is just a 2-minute walk from Castel Sant’Angelo. The restaurant with rooftop terrace overlooks the historic center.
Score from 1784 reviews Very good
Just outside Rome's Villa Doria Pamphili, the NH Roma Villa Carpegna has free Wi-Fi, free parking, a gym, and an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel is in a quiet area, just over 1 mile from the Vatican....
Score from 359 reviews Good
One of the highlights of the luxurious Atlante Star Hotel has to be its rooftop restaurant where you can enjoy spectacular views of St. Peter’s Basilica while you eat.

Free Wifi just for 5 hours for your stay ,staff are very rude , unhelpful requested rooms , breakfast was poor , room was too old, it is better if the reception men smile ,if you don't have a car don't choose this hotel , far from every thing

The rooms are fine but the corridors badly need an overhaul. Few alternative restaurants in the vicinity (although the Sofila cafe we good value) and the restaurant in the hotel was way too expensive for what it was.
Nice and quiet and well located if you don't mind a 15 min hilly walk to the No. 8 tram.

Everithing perfect,staff friendly 100%

Paid wifi for 8 euro for 5 hours is super stupid in 21 century. The park that is supposed to be next to the hotel is divided with a huge brick wall. The reception men were not very nice.
Cleaning ladies and restaurant staff was very nice. There is a shuttle bus that goes straight to Rome and its cheap. Hotel old but clean.

Desk clerk rushed through hotel info, including the info on paid wifi when booking.com says free 5 hours, while checking in with 5 children and 3 adults around 8pm. We were tired and hungry so not all info was retained which led to an argument later with management. Management threatened to charge us for the 'free' breakfast, all wifi connections and shuttle service to the Vatican.
Good location, decent rooms, nice shuttle service to the Vatican

Some details in the room seemed a bit oldish and need minor repairs (door frames, bath). Re spa: paying 20 euros per person for use of indoor pool and jacuzzi is a bit expensive. Although it includes multiple features, not everybody would be interested in sauna, etc., whereas a half-hour to one hour swim in warm waters would be pleasant for people choosing this hotel for an overnight stay before flying back home.
The peaceful surroundings, greenery all round, balcony. The shuttle to the Vatican area. Good, although not spectacular, food in the restaurant. The spa seems to be nice and with good facilities (we did not have time to try it). WiFi is free.

the quiet location

The location is far from shops such that a guest cannot even buy tooth paste easily without taking taxi.
The cordial relationship and prompt attention the staff give to guests is a big assets to the hotel. The hotel can start mini shop where guests can get essential toiletries.

Staff at reception not very professional, when things went wrong, they just kept saying 'These thing happen'. Acted like they wanted to get rid of you as quickly as possible, as you were causing a problem to them. Not one single person on reception apologised when the water went off in the hotel and we had to wash with ice cold bottles of water. We had dirty water coming out of the tap in our bathroom sink at one point. Stairwell carpet in hotel was very dirty and so were the carpets in reception and outside rooms. Whole hotels needs refurbishment. I was told at reception that hotel did not give guest irons, in case the irons set the hotel on fire. Suggest if the wiring so bad that they get the whole hotel rewired. Also told by reception staff and waiters that the electricity in hotel goes off on a regular basis. Need more coat hangers in each room. 3 is not enough. Overall the hotel was not a nice place to stay. Staff have never heard of -Nothing is too much trouble for the guest. They left 2 ladies in reception waiting to get into their room for 5 hours. The ladies arrived at 4.00am and the hotel had been told way ahead. I was able to get Soya milk for my tea at breakfast. But was told by the bar staff when ordering tea with them there was no soya milk available!!! It was like staying the Rome version of Faulty Towers... It has put me off staying at any other hotels owned by The Golden Tulip Hotels.
Breakfast good and staff in breakfast room friendly. Shuttle bus to Rome City Centre on time and very good drop off point. Rooms were clean. But could do with a dust inside wardrobes. One gentleman on reception desk did try to get us some hot water, when the water in hotel failed early in the morning. That was the only time anyone on reception acted professionally.

Got a room with the balcony in the shade. Far from public transportation. No walk paths to anything, not even to entrance to the big nearby park. The worst lunch I ever had. Horrible. Outdoor pool was closed. Tourist tax. Some staff members in reception were unpleasant. Shuttle buss could go to a better place than the Vatican, like Trastevere.
Quite luxary at reasonable price. Great superior size bed. Great balconys, no see in. Clean. Wondeful towels in Egyptian cotton. Spa. Shuttle buss.

The service was appalling. The guest lift has a mind of its own. The staff were rude and never answer their phones. The breakfast was poor. As we had to leave the hotel at 6:45 I thought that we could fit a quick breakfast in. Too bad as the only options available upon open time (6:30am) are a miserable selection of cold cuts, pasterys and cereals. The shower conveniently decided not to work prior to our check out and when rectified, spat out dirty water. The bathroom in general was nothing to write home about as it was in poor state of repair and the toilet pressure was none to pleasing either. Room service was expensive which is to be expected at any hotel but the food was delivered cold and portion size was a joke.
The rooms was big as was the balcony. The bed was also quiet comfortable and very large. Regular and reliable bus service.

The hotel is a bit far from the hustle and bustle of central Rome, but it is what we wanted. There is free parking, breakfast is excellent, food at the restaurant is very good. Hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens and it is in a quiet place. Please note a car or taxi is needed. But I chose this hotel as I wanted to be in a quiet and lovely place. I will definitely return to this fantastic hotel.

Pool was closed...pics of hotel on booking.com show this amazing big pool - weather was 27-28 degrees. But pool was closed....with closer inspection I saw the small fine print that says pool is only open June-sep....this should be written on pool pictures!! One particular male staff member was very rude....at breakfast he offered all the Italians coffee as soon as they arrived...but non Italians were ignored. One front office male was very rude after I had to go all the way downs stairs to buy more internet as no one was answering reception!!!! There were some very lovely staff members that were amazing....but those two really ruined our stay with their rudeness!!
Bed very comfortable

Unfriendly staff, poor offer for dinner, food could be better( quality and quantity) for the price charged.Far away from any bars, restaurants and shops. To the bus station you have to walk 15 min.
Nice room with lovely view, clean, very tasty breakfast, shuttle bus to Vatican( you have to make a reservation before).

very nice concept
October 13, 2014
Hilly 15-20 minute walk to Tram stop. Lack of restaurants / bars near to the hotel. Expensive drinks at Hotel Bar.
Good sized swimming pool . Good sized generally clean rooms. Good varied breakfast .

very bad location! they provide a shuttle (it's not free) n you've to tell them beforehand when u're gonna come back otherwise they'll not allow u to use the shuttle without a ticket for the time written in it! Very rude stuff at the reception! I visited Rome at least 15 times n this's the worst hotel!
good swimming pool
