This smaller hotel had an excellent location right outside the Vatican wall and half a block from the Vatican Museum entrance. The staff was very helpful in making reservations for us for the Vatican Museum, which saved us from lining up in the huge line. They also gave us helpful city directions and suggested good restaurants, especially the one just a block away on the same street. which we really enjoyed. The hotel was cleanly kept and had a good sized room and bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Lovely continental breakfast with a good variety of foods.
The elevator was slow but this was not an overbearing problem.
Staff very friendly; Location fantastic - see vatican from window; Safe area- able to park on street
Location was outstanding. A mere 30 meters from the Vatican, you simply can't get closer unless you are staying there. Staff were also outstanding--friendly,courteous and very helpful with each request for assistance. Highly recommended.
A requested repair to a toilet took longer than it should. could have been a 'parts' problem, so I won't mark the hotel down too much for that.
The location is excellent. The Vatican is your neigbour. The hotel is modern. The best part was the staff. They are excellent.
Great spot. Across the road from the Vatican. Easy walk to the metro and restaurants and shopping
The location, right next to the Vatican walls, was excellent.Check-in was not only efficient, but very friendly as well, with the young lady on reception taking the time to point out, and circle, on the hotel's tourist map all the places that we said that we were interested in, as well as giving us information about the best areas to eat,the easiest way to get there and the times it would take us to walk there. The management and staff were very friendly, obliging and really seemed to care.
The rooms, though comfortable, seemed a little austere and could do with a splash of colour to lift them. We stayed for 4 days and had a simple, but good, breakfast each morning with excellent coffee made to order and delivered to our table by the very obliging gentleman running the breakfast-room. Sunday was his day off and his good work of the previous days was undone by the surly and ill-mannered young man who took his place. He did a great dis-service to the other excellent staff at the Hearth.
Good location but quite noisy. Staff were very accommodating and moved us to a quieter room when one became available.
The location was incredible, literally across the street from The Vatican and a short walk to the metro. The staff were very helpful and friendly. When we go back to Rome, we will stay here!
- perfect location - excellent European breakfast
- shower sized for midgets - beds hard as rock
very friendly, helpful and efficient staff great location very clean hotel good size rooms with good quality fittings good continental breakfast
pricey but generally not bad value for money
Staff Staff Staff Location
Shower a bit tiny - typical European.
Every staff member we encounted was fantastic, welcoming, helpful and courteous - especially the gentleman who checked us in.
Bed was only made with a sheet even though it's still quite warm in Rome it would have been nice to have a doona - and an iron in the cupboard can never hurt!
- No Iron in room - Small bathroom
We were steps from the Vatican Museum entrance. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean accommodation.
Pretty spartan room, even by European standards.
Hotel was very comfortable and the staff was exceptional.
Modern hotel with character.
First of all, hotel is very clean and comfortable. it's very close with vatican and can see the wall in the room. Also reception is very kind and helpful.. specially thanks for Guido that gave lots of good information!
The staff was so helpful. It was our first trip to Rome and they gave us great advice on what attractions to make advance reservations for and let us email them the tickets and they printed them for us. They helped with directions and restaurant recommendations. Breakfast is included in the price which makes it a great value. The rooms are basic but very clean. It is literally across the street from the Vatican museum. The staff is really what makes this boutique hotel shine.
Excellent location and service. Great value for money. Super friendly staff
Great location Close to two metro stations Staff were friendly and helpful Good view from window
Room could have been slightly bigger
Location for subway and Vatican City. Nearby supermarket and many restaurants. Friendly staff. Good continental breakfast.
The air conditioning capacity cannot cope with heat of summer. The cooling fan is hidden behind the curtains when drawn, but even with the curtains open the room never got below 27C until early morning, hence poor comfort/sleeping. I think the staff knew about this design issue as they said that we should not expect "American" standards for A/C in Italy.
Staff very friendly, location close to Vatican Meusium and old city, coffee shops cafeterias, Cado shops are 3 min walking. My room was with terrace (highly recommend).
The staff were very friendly and gave great advice on where to visit and avoiding queues. We came back late a few nights but there was always someone there to let us in who weren't put out by our late arrival
As others have said, the staff was the most attentive group of people I had the pleasure of dealing with throughout my European vacation. The dining spots they recommended were outstanding and a good value. It is extremely close to the Ottavian Metro stop so you can jump on that and get to wherever you need. The location is also a 5 min walk to the Vatican which is awesome because I had to be in line before 7am if I wanted to get in before the line grows to over 3 hours long!
We loved the young lady at the front desk who was so helpful with absolutely everything. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Wonderful coffee!!!
The beds were extremely hard which some people may not like.
- The staff was great and helpful, very polite. - The room was great, big and comfortable, pretty good interior design, nice clean bathroom. We could see the Vatican from the window. - I had a problem with the credit card charge, my bank charged me, but the hotel didn't get the money. The manager called his bank and took care of it.
- The Aircondition doesn't work as it should. There were times that we couldn't turn it off, and there were times we couldn't turn it on. Also the curtains were on top of the aircondition. To have air coming into the room you had to open the curtains. But in the afternoon sun came into the room. So it was: Sun and airconditioning or No Sun, No Airconditioning - Breakfast felt kind of poor, but we don't have experience from other Italy hotels. - Location is pretty far from anything interesting, except the Vatican. - Very small lobby - public area.
