pisa tower is probably 150-200 meters away; plenty of restaurants around the area.
The location could not have been better! We were about a 3 minute walk from the Leaning Tower, which was perfect. It was hot and we didn't pay for the a/c but the ceiling fan provided in the room was awesome, and cooled us down right away. I liked the fact we only paid a little bit more to have our own private bathroom, too. We would definitely recommend this place to any couples just to spend a night or two in Pisa.
The room could have been bigger, but since it was just my husband and I, it was perfect! There also wasn't an elevator, but again, no problem :)
The staff at Helvetia were more than accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed. The room was big enough and very clean. The hotel is right around the corner from the Tower. Loads of restaurants nearby.
Very close to the tower and town centre, good wifi
Bathroom facilities just adequate - shower difficult to use with aberrant spray
Staff talking and serving best n nicely. We are happy receptionist Miss. Mariana talked nicely with us.
Wi-Fi was not working properly. Many times we complained. Didn't listen to me.
Excellent value and amazing location.
This is such an awesome place for the price we pay. Simple, non fancy place. Our flight arrived late and we reached by 11:30 pm, but still received a welcome. Clean and hygienic. Leaning tower is just 5 mins walk from here. Overall, everything positive.
Availability of breakfast can make it best budget place to stay in Pisa :)
We loved the location, staff, facilities at Hotel Helvetia. We arrived very late - after 10:30pm and found a local restaurant serving fab pizza and hugs of local wine. After dinner we strolled to the tower and have unique memories of seeing it in moonlight minus the hoards of tourists. Gorgeous. We returned to climb the tower the next morning but we're so eased we saw it by night too. Literally 5 mins from the hotel.
Location was great Friendly staff
Beds a bit hard but that's in almost every midclass accommodation.
Location very near to Tower, very friendly and help full staff. There are restaurants near by and there is a super market very close by. We needed an Indian restaurants which was also in 10 mins walk able distance
There is no lift
Friendliness of the owners, recommendations they provided for local restaurants, touristic routes to take, places to see. The localisation of the hotel is superb. The hotel is clean, it provides its guests with possibility of getting coffee, water and other drinks from a machine.
Tourists need to know the hotel doesn't have a lift. We knew that, so for us it wasn't a problem. Falling asleep might be a problem for those who don't use ear plugs. The corridors are tiled and are therefore loud, pulling of suitcases and loud conversations outside the rooms by some guests disturb at night. But after all it shows the lack of thoughtfulness and courtesy on the part of some guests, rather than poor standard of the hotel. The hotel is a well run family enterprise with the advantages and disadvantages of being in the center of a medieval town, on top of that, in a historic building. Guess what: in middle ages soundproofing and elevators were not a standard.
Exceptionally close to the Tower - just around the corner. Very clean.
Excellent location and steps away from the leaning tower. Reception was always helpful in giving suggestions on day trips to locations like Lucca, and printing out boarding passes for flights.
Not much of an area to use for kitchen space, and depending on what floor your room is on, the washrooms may not be located there.
Pisa tower is just downstairs, quite good location. The room and the shared bathroom are clean.
Not good smelling in our room. Smelling Like it is just refurnished.
Great location just next to Leaning Tower. Spacious and clean room.
Be forewarned! When in Pisa do NOT enter the restricted zones, even if you are legitimately there... unless you are a masochist who likes wrestling with foreign bureaucracies to prove it. There are traffic cameras that take photos, then six months later your rental car company charges you more than the fine itself for the privilege of providing your address to the Pisa municipal authorities, and another five months later you get a violation notice in the mail. Not the souvenir I wanted of my trip to Italy. Also, not unexpected given the building age, but be aware there's no elevator (we were four floors up).
Noisy corridors in the morning
We had a suite on the ground floor with access to a pretty courtyard. The bathroom was modern, and the beds comfortable. The staff were most helpful, and restaurants were closeby. The best part was the hotels proximity to the Piazza dei Miracoli with the leaning tower illuminated at night.
Although there was a drinks machine there was no breakfast, buyt we knew that. The shower curtain was a mystery !
Excellent location, very friendly helpful staff
Very friendly helpful staff and clean rooms.
The main problem was the noise. The floors are tiled and the doors slam loudly so the noise of people arriving and departing between 12 and 2.30 was horrendous. Then at 3pm people talked loudly outside in the street for ages.
Quirky bright decor, central location but quiet, helpful staff, lovely bathroom
Location Very clean
Bad smell in the room (coming from the toilet?): I needed to sleep with the window open, therefore there was noise from outside
Amazing location. Great staff, very welcomming and very helpful. Loved the unique room, the outside space and whole atmosphere. Could not have asked for anything better. This place really made our stay in Pisa.
Location - right by the tower, perfect.
Cleaner walked straight into the room (without knocking) while we were lying in bed in the morning and didn't get out straight away, she apologised and asked us if this was room 5...it wasn't. This was well before check out time. Room was tiny, shower had a little space between its walls and the glass doors that was full of dust and dirt.
Location Facilities Friendly Staff
They have a sharing tolitet and showers on each floor, so if you are paying for your private room with bathroom included, you should not be worry about it. The thing is that the noise of people using the share toilet and shower on your floor, keeps you await during the entire night.. which is not very nice..
