I'm a Hilton Honors member and I stay in many of their properties
domestically and internationally. This was the least "Hilton"
experience I've ever had. For a place that is not very old, our room
felt worn out. It smelled like sweat, and was an odd configuration that
gave us a huge walk-in closet and much less room space. The bathroom
handheld showerhead leaked, the tolietries were in little tiny squeeze
packets like you would get in a two star hotel, and it just didn't
feel "Hilton" at all. The towels were small and scratchy, the
walls in the room were dinged up and it just generally felt tattered. I
could go on and on about all the little cosmetic things, but we also had
a great deal of trouble getting kicked off the Internet which added to
the dissatisfaction. When I went to check out, the front desk insisted I
had reserved two nights, which I had not, and had to log on to my
confirmation on Booking.com to prove.
This property has some pluses - the staff both front desk and wait staff
are efficient and nice - but it has some real minuses too.The lobby area
is attractive and the restaurant is nice. We enjoyed the breakfast which
came with more variety than some European breakfasts that are included
in the price of the room. But really, that was the highlight. The price
was right - very cheap - and it gave us time to visit Matera and choose
a really wonderful hotel for our second night.
