We had opted for the breakfast-inclusive rate. The breakfast was disappointing - we got coupons for a café nearby for croissants (one each) and coffee (pay extra if you want any other beverage). Though the croissants were good, we Indians are used to more substantive breakfasts! Perhaps we should have taken the other (exclusive of breakfast) option because we saw Manuela serving much more tempting fare in her office-reception room to other guests. Seemed well worth the extra price we would have had to pay.
My daughters (13 and 22) and I began our European holiday in Rome at Holiday a San Pietro - and that made it the perfect start. Or let me say Manuela, the owner, made it the perfect start. I would go to the extent of saying that even if you can afford a more luxurious hotel or B&B, stay here because of her! I had been in email touch with her before traveling and had found her efficient then too. She organized a taxi pick up for us from the airport to her B&B (55 euros).
Though she isn't on site 24x7, she was there to welcome us warmly and went way beyond the call of duty to guide us on how to get around Rome - buses, routes, maps etc, which was immensely helpful. She helped book the Vatican City tour (the only tour you actually need to take - see the rest of Rome on your own, the best way to do it).
When there was a minor water leak problem (from the refrigerator), she responded immediately, getting down to mopping up herself and doing some quick-fixing.
The location of the B&B is perfect - opposite the Vatican. It is set back a bit so you don't catch the noise of any traffic etc on the main road, which is just a minute away and has a row of shops and cafes. We felt comfortable walking around there even late at night.
It is convenient to take a bus to the other attractions (Colosseum, Trevi Fountain etc) from here - but, if you are game, you can also walk all the way and back, as we did, and really see this beautiful city.
I found it convenient to have a service (not self service) laundry just in front of the B&B - I gave them my pile of clothes in the morning and got them back by the evening.
The room was very small (we were in a triple occupancy apartment) but cosy. Very small bathroom too - but served its purpose well. No view - but then we weren't spending much time in the room so that wasn't an issue.
If I still need to say it - yes, I would recommend Holiday a San Pietro strongly and warmly.
