Doors locked from both sides, friendly staff, good wifi, clean. Discounted ride to airport by staff. Close to public transit.
Far from downtown Rome and Ciampino airport, felt sketchy and a little unsafe, especially for student travelers.
Staff was always smiling it feels good and rooms were clean
Keys were open some other cupboards too so I felt quite unsafe. Hostel was really too much far away from center.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The building and facilities could use some upgrades, but everything still functions well.
The best features of Hostel Prima Base were its cheap price and the nice and hospitable staff best suited for very young crowd traveling on a low budget
the location is quite remote (a bus and metro to the city center) and the facilities are minimalistic. I hope they fix the wifi
Friendly and helpful staff. Short walk to the Metro straight into the city. Fridge, freezer, microwave and stove available to save money eating out. Free street parking just outside. Overall great value.
Breakfast of coffee and croissant didn't start until 8:30 so I skipped it a few days to get an earlier start. Other guests shouting and partying into the early hours just outside.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
It was way too far from the major sites. I had to take a bus to the nearest metro stop which happened to be the furthest from the city center. The buses stopped early and didn't come as regularly as I would like. This made it difficult to experience the whole of Rome without calling a cab everytime you wanted to go to or from the hostel. It also could've been a little cleaner, but it is a hostel so that can kind of be expected.
Basic but nice hostel.
The showers were not clean
The staff here really 'go the extra mile' : after arriving late, they helped carry my bags to the room, and were very willing to help with everything, including tricky travel arrangements. The room was nice: clean, bright and colourful. Breakfast was a croissant and coffee.
The wi-fi: I never managed to connect for as much as one second in the two days I stayed here! But staff did as much as they could to help... Location is not central, but as a previous reviewer has said, it is an interesting experience seeing the non-tourist aspect of Rome. It's about the journey!
- No wi-fi in hostel (at all). - Bad location. - Dog that will not let you sleep at night.
I really appreciated the nice and kind receptionists, chambermaids and other personnel of Hostel Prima Base besides I was also happy to stay in an international environment as one of the advantage of Hostel Prima Base is its being relatively small and cozy.
Friendly staff Good (but basic) breakfast
-A bit out of the way to get to the city centre -Doors are loud, so you can hear people coming and going all through the night -Only one electrical outlet in room -Wifi was unreliable -Light fixture was a little faulty -Bug bites during the night
The location was good, away from all the noise. And just a 3min busride from the metro (then around 15min to the colosseum). The staff spoke some english but allways tried their best. Lockable box for a small bag.
Very nice staff, clean facilities, old but clean beds, air condition devices in every room, some rooms have lockers, a living room and a kitchen with fridge
The hostel is distant from the city core (but easy to reach, within 30min by bus and metro)
What I liked the most was Alfio, the manager. He is a very nice and communicative person. He made me feel home. I will definetly book again. Thanks Alfio!! Also, the place is very peaceful. No noise, traffic or else.
I did not like Gaia, the receptionist. She was rude upon check-in. The rest of the staff was very nice.
Hardly any English-speakers among staff, very loud talking + other noise by staff during entire nights!
i liked a lot staff, super friendly and i had a feeling like it's a family, big Italian family ) . For location, it's ok, not so close but with one bus and then metro you can get in center in 30 -40 minutes, so it's not a problem. It's safe and there's hot water always and always smiling staff, who will help and make your vacation special. I will recommend this hostel for people, who doesnt expect for small money royal palace) for the price i paid i got a clean bed, hot water bathroom, lots of positive impressions from people i was in , besides one girl Elena) but u can't pick person who will be with you in room ... i plan to come back after i will get my second vacation. Thank you Prima Base for all.
Elena- i saw her in my room for 3 nights and every night i was expecting some crazy things from her... so this was the only thing. though when i was leaving she left ... so ))) if u want to enjoy ur time in Rome, for a small price in a nice place, go to Prima Base
I liked the neighborhood, it's in the urban area, more quiet. Although it takes both the metro and bus to get there from the city, and the public transportation ends at 1:30am, so if you want to go home later than that, there may be a problem. I would also recommend a Roma pass, I bought the 48 hours card, valid for most of the public transportations until midnight.
The hostel is so clean and comfortable
The location is a bit far away from the city centre
Not serious staff when a problem arises. Not trustable.
The hostel is really good! Nice place to stay!
The staff are not really helpfull. The hostel is really far and hard to get from thw city center in a neighborhood that I didnt feel safe. Dirty, poor equipped. I wouldn't recommend it even if it is really cheap.
the place feel like orphan home
Loveable staff, good facilities and generous opening hours for the reception. Wifi and a small garden outside.
A bit far from city center but accessable by subway, Also the buffet werent more then croissant and latte but still. For a hostel in this price range its definitly worth the money! Remember to Bring cash euro for bus or subway since there's a lack of atms!!
I want to thank the guys for beeing open and supportive during our trip to Rome. I appreciate the infformations they sent when we asked for directions about how to arrive at the hostel, the free Wi-fi and the free map. Also I like the fact the me and my wi-fe had a room just for the two of us.
I disliked the shower without a cabine (it was just a shower hose between the sink and the toilet bowl), the fact that the bathroom was all cold and without any warming source and the fact that the included breakfest has been the same in both days.
