Hotel is about 10 minutes' walk from the central train station in Florence, and half of that can be done through a smooth-floored underground shopping area, making it really easy for pulling cases. There is a half hourly bus service to the station from Florence airport. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. The building used to be a private villa and has some nice nooks and crannies - a small courtyard where you can sit under a sunshade and have a drink for example - very unusual in a city hotel. The buffet continental style breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice of fresh bread/croissants amd the normal cheese and cold meat selection. Very good value for a city centre hotel within easy walking distance of the Duomo, the covered food market, and several museums and galleries. There is quite a steep flight of stairs in the main entrance, and a little more up-and-down to get along corridors to the rooms: not that easy with luggage.

I can recommend Hotel Accademia, with the note that this is a budget hotel with very basic rooms. It is reasonably priced place to sleep and rest, not to hang out for long periods of time. Air con is available, and we never looked out the window. For a while we thought we did not even have window, but then we realized our window shades were down, after that we never bothered to check the “view”, we were so tired. The hotel is located very close to major sights such as the Duomo. If you are looking to spend your money on food, entertainment, and sightseeing, and you just need a basic room to rest, this would be a great choice. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak fluent English. Free wi-fi available in room. If you are disabled, elderly, or otherwise have trouble carrying your suitcase up stairs, this may not be a good option. Continental breakfast was OK, and had really good coffee. Valet Parking service is available (not hotel own), but we were not happy with it. Our GPS got lost in Firenze city, it took us to places you should not drive, it is only for walking. Finally we found the hotel, but it is clearly on a walking street, so do not even try to drive there. This should be mentioned on hotel information. Valet service was kind of expensive, and when they were supposed to bring back car, instead of 20 minutes it took 60! Recommend you try some parking hall, and walk from there.

1. The hotel is location not far from railway station and main sights of city. Clear room of the average sizes. A classical Evropean breakfast, better, than in other hotels. Recommenend for rest with purpose to get acquainted with Florence. A little cool in room (may).

Perfect location – even if you get 5 shots of grappa you are highly likely to find the place. Wi-fi really works, even though you need a fresh password every day. Beds are comfortable – and your luggage fits under, which means no parcour in the room. Towels changed every day, linen every third day. No problem to shorten your stay – though they prefer you do it via booking.com. Excellent plums for breakfast. Decent choice of TV channels. This is a 2-star hotel and you get what you pay for, so I am not going to complain about no fridge or no magnifying glass. The key problem for us was a car, since the hotel has no own garage. There are 3 options available, but none is really good (a garage – scary to drive across a mazy and busy area, limited flexibility; public parking – mission impossible, municipal parking at Fortezza – 15 mins walk, a bit pain when towing a luggage). Our room was somewhat noisy in the morning, since at 7:30 the Conad superstore across the street was getting supplies – though staying awake in Florence at 7:30 is a bit of a sin . The room door needs more insulation – we heard breakfast being prepared. As to the breakfast itself – no hot stuff except coffee and boiling water . Out room was a little dark – but this is a Florentine climate, I guess. No elevator, so be prepared to climb 30 something stairs. No room tea/coffee. No beautiful female receptionist, unfortunately (though my wife might list this as a plus). You need some 50-70 secs before the water in the shower gets really hot – my kid reported to bed saying “only cold water, dad”. No shelves in the wardrobe – our textiles formed a nice molehill inside, after 3 days it could get a big problem, I suppose.

The staff was very freindly and helpful. They made reservations in advance for the museums for my family when I requested through an e-mail. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was walking distance to all attractions and train station. We were able to walk to everything. Breakfast was good and there was plenty to eat.

The location first of all was excellent. Just a short walk to train station and the city centre, The rooms and hotel on a whole were very clean and the hotel staff were helpful with our enquiries and booking short tours for us. Great selection for breakfast too. Delicious. Also they met our request of locating our older childrens room on the same floor as us. Had to climb quiet a few stairs to top floor. But that didn't really bother us as it was an older building and was expected. The hotel staff were happy to carry up our liggager anyway.

The breakfast was outstanding. Large selection of everything -- pastries, meat, cheese, juice & fruit. Staff friendly and helpful. Made excellent restaurant recommendation. Room very pleasantly decorated. The reception desk was two flights up from the street. Window in our room looked into building across the street.

The receptionist was perhaps the kindest and most helpful receptionist I have come across at any hotel I've stayed (and I have travelled a lot). Apart from that, decent hotel, convenient central location, excellent value for money.

The location was quite good-fairly close to the train station. The staff were generally quite helpful. Internet was provided, though I had to ask for the log in card once every 24 hours. There was no lift and it could be quite an inconvenience if you have large suitcases. The room I had had a bathroom outside the room-a small hassle for me. Breakfast was sufficient, but not very good.

It is a nice hotel in the very profitable location: not far from the center -duomo piazza- and not far from the central railway station. Rooms are not too big but rather comfortable and functional. Very hospital breakfast.

The staff was very responsive to my e-mails and helping me plan my trip. The hotel location is very good and the hotel itself is interesting with outside courtyards and inside sitting areas. We stayed 5 nights and were very comfortable.

“The location is very good and just 3 mins walk from the Firenze SMN station. Although the hotel is near the Street side, it is very quite at night becasue of the double layers windows. Mr. Paolo (Boss) is nice and expalin eveything in detail when you check in. His Staffs are very nice too and my family likes to stay in this Hotel. The size of the room is big enough for 4 people. Also, a good supermarket just nearby and you will find a lot of cheaper things there.” Gavin, Hong Kong |
