Absolutely nothing...I stayed for one night and chose the hotel for inexpense. You pay for bed no more. Breakfast is poor and staff are untrained with a very rude, incompetent and hostile owner. On arrival I was asked would I like to pay before or after, I chose the latter as this is my normal experience when staying in a hotel regardless of booking. The young lady behind desk was pleasant but seemed unsure of herself. Check out is at 11..I came down to check out just as the owner was about to come fetch me! She stood by me at desk as I paid and was questioned by a very nervous manager. He wanted to know why I didn't pay before and revealed he had been trying to charge me on my credit card! Terrible spot, don't stay.

Very good location and value. Hotel would benefit from some routine, low level maintenance. E.G. window shutters could not be locked shut but could be fixed with basic tool kit; very nice public terrace but several chairs broken etc

The hotel has a very good location. It is in the center of the city and close to place of interest. Services claimed at site do exist but do not function. Air-conditioner did not work, so instead of it there was a fan that could not help the situation and it was not possible to stay in even at night. Only one plug socket in the room was ok, the rest were broken. As a result the fridge was out of work and there was no even bottle of water, forget about mini-bar. The bath room had some problem with sanitary and it was stinking. Inspite of the fact that booking said all taxes inclusive, the concierge claimed for new tax applied to tourists. As per him 3 star hotel should be taxed 3 eu per day that I paid in advance. They accept this tax only in cash with no receipt...I Had to check out before planned date

Quite close to smn railway station with a cheap price. The most horrible experience in Italy ever! We did get a big room on the 1st floor, close to the elevator. At 2:50 am, one of us felt someone sneaking around our bed, when we both open our eyes, shockingly found a man in our room, with a squatting position really close to our bed, trying to steal. The man run out quickly as soon as we shout out. The lock on the door was extremely old and not secure at all, also there was no security cameras in the corridor. During that night, the door of the balcony on the 2nd floor was unlocked, the hotel was located in narrow neighborhood streets where thieves could easily jump in. Even though we had proof that there was folded corner of newspapers found at the door did not belong to us nor the hotel room, the hotel manager tried to persuade us that it was just a fancy dream on the second day!

The central position: very close to the train station and to San Lorenzo area. I had a single room, there wasn't enough space to do anything but sleeping. Moreover the air conditioned was broken.

Staff was very friendly. I was lucky...I Had lost my iPod there at the hotel. I called after leaving the hotel, and the owner's wife had found it. I was able to return to Firenze to pick it up. Very happy!

Although the decor was dated in the rooms, it was comfortable and the staff were helpful. We appreciated a place to store our luggage for free before our flight on the last day as well as a discount voucher for the restaurant across the road. The shutters on the windows were great for blocking out street noise and the air conditioning in each room was good, although a little loud. Had to pay for internet access $7 for 24 hours, which expired 24hours after log in, rather than giving you 24 hours of internet access (found a cafe around the corner that had free wifi which was helpful). One room had no shower curtain which was inconvenient.

Location was great. I didn't not enjoy my stay at all. The room was incredibly small - almost impossible to move around in, the air conditioning was horrible and I had to wait a night until they could get me a fan and once I got the fan it was even harder to move around in the room, the entire room smelled horrible - a wet moldy fragrance, and the bathroom smelled especially bad - probably because with the flat floor, most of the water from the shower just sits around and/or spills out the door into the room where it ferments for days and days. Do not stay at Hotel Basilea.
