Hotel Basilea

Location is ok, price is reasonable.

Rooms are out of fix.

The location was great, the place was clean and the staff was friendly.

The room was quite warm (and we saw not a/c); we were glad it was October and not August.

The staff was cooperative and helpful. We were not satisfied with the room we were allotted at first, so he changed our room without a lot of hassle.

This hotel is not a 3 star as it claims. It is very old, although clean, but badly needs repairs and renovation. The ceiling had a leak a couple of weeks ago so the big patch on it was very unsighty. Also, the tiles in the bathroom were broken and the shower room had prominent signs of deterioration. Though staff was nice and the hotel was clean, I would not recommend this hotel at this price. Rather spend euros 10 or 20 more per night and stay in a much better hotel.

cleanliness was lacking is some parts of the bedroom (minibar) and bathroom (mould in corners, dust on radiator).

The location was good, it was cheap, and was adequate for a quick one night stay. It was close to S.M.N station, and only a short walk into the centre of the old town.

Unfortunately, the rooms were extremely hot, and the location was really noisy, so you couldn't open the windows. Scooters and shop trolleys woke you up from 5 am onwards. The showers also had no hot water.

Centrally located with easy access to shopping and historic sites in Florence.

Shower stall was extremely small making bathing a chore.

Good location

We had noisy neighbours who returned home at 2 in the morning yelling and banging on doors although this was in no way a reflection on the hotel itself.

no street lights in street...so a little scarey when returing to the hotel in the dark

dining facilities were being renovated, which meant cramped breakfast area temporarily located next to the reception desk. Also, there was some noise and dust from the building works, and men with wheelbarrows trundling down the corridor outside the bedroom. We hadn't been told about this or offered alternatives or reduced tariff.
