Hotel Excelsior San Marco overlooks a lovely park and is far from the traffic noise. Just 110 yards away, you will find the cable-car leading to Bergamo Alta. The best thing about the hotel is it's location.Close to funicular to Citta Alta and close to the city and main shopping area.This was my third stay at Hotel Excelsior over 4 years and I think the hotel is looking a bit tired. The standard rooms are adequate and comfortable but are ready for an update. Breakfast was acceptable and the staff were very helpful. It was a little disappointing that we were not able to just have a drink in the roof top restaurant to appreciate the views. We were told you were only allowed up there if you were having a meal which was grossly expensive.

I booked the hotel because it has a gym. Upon arrival, I found that the gym only opens at 8 am only so for a business traveller, that is completely useless.

A fantastic hotel, views from the rooms are great! Within walking distance to the Funicular for the ride to the Upper Town and bus stops very close. The Roof Garden restaurant is a great experience, staff made one feel feel like "Royalty". Will definately be going back. There is nothing to dislike.

Very good breakfast facilities and quality of food and service. Friendly staff at reception, but not overly knowledgeable about buses to the airport. The room was extremely tired and in urgent need of refurbishment and we did not get a warm glow when we entered the room. The view was none existent, unless you like air con units above the kitchen and the best that can be said about the room was than it was clean and presentable - overall very disappointing for a 4 star hotel

Exceptional services and smiling people are the words that best describe this hotel. We found the view to piazza reppublica and the lower city fantastic. The funicolare (the lift that gets you to upper town) is only 3 minutes away and the main city with the market is near also. We think its the hotel with the best location in the city! We even had, as we requested, a room with view in the main city. All in all, a hotel with exceptional services, great location, beautiful view, rich breakfast and happy people.

Excellent location, great view from the roof. Good, but expensive restorante on the roof gallery. Reach breakfast. NB! Ask for a cap of capuccino or alike at the breakfast, otherwise ordinary coffee is not good at all, which is so tipical for the majority of hotels :(

Location is great, just near the main shopping area, five minutes walk to the funicolare to Alta Citta. Room was clean. Nice balcony. Very small shower, which is quite uncomfortable, but the main problem is that even in May the airco is shut off, so we had to choose: either keep the windows closed at night and not be able to sleep because of the heat, or leave the windows open and be not able to sleep because of the noise...... We didn't get much sleep. So if you are planning a trip in winter or spring, i'd suggest you look for another hotel. In Summer (with airco turned on) it is probably a good hotel.

Very good hotel with the central location. Easy to get to the old town. Good and spacious room, breakfast with a good choice. About 15 min. by taxi to the airport. Can recommend to everyone.

Fantastic view to the Old city from the balcony. I have asked to provide separate bed for a child. I get it, but. I was offered biger room and had to pay for this 50 EUR more. But view from my room was just fantastic, magic Citta Alta.

Excellent experience. Superb room. (Upgraded on check-in.) Highly satisfactory breakfast. Courteous, helpful staff. Nothing really. Would suggest that room service extends beyond restaurant opening hours.

It was spacious, we had big room, because they gave us De luxe instead of standart room. We could see old town besauce of the balcony, bed was comfy. Not so delicious breakfast, especially coffee - it's a shame... Interior must be redone soon. Lack of fresh air.
