no free wifi
great location near square, restaurants buses and ferries. good breakfast
everything was good
The position was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for better. Great value for money.
From the beginning it was good. We needed to be picked up from the train, that happened & was a good experience. The room was clean & comfortable, breakfast was good & was nice to mix with other holiday makers. The staff were friendly & helpful. We were returned to the station on time the same way we came. Our experience at other places we stayed at on our holiday wasn't always that good.
great location next to square and close to bus and ferries friendly staff
The view is amazing, location superb.
Location was excellent
Very old hotel
Location (near to the main square, bus stop to other towns). Beautiful view from the room.
No free wifi. Unpleasant stairs to access the hotel. Breakfast could have fresh fruits.
Location, friendliness of staff, clean, everything that we needed.
Thanks Ms. Luana for everything:)
Breakfast was really awful, full of cakes and nothing other..
Location was excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Room window faced the Mediteranian and between me and the sea was the Flavio Gioia fountain. The fountain was beautiful both day and night. The hotel is around 500 feet from the bus terminal and 1000 feet from the boat dock and located on the main street through Amalfi. The hotel was comfortable and breakfast was good. Luanna was very helpful with directions and recommendations and the rest of the staff were pleasant and friendly.
Shower curtain and no free Wi-Fi.
Central location-right overlooking the square Clean spacious air conditioned room Great buffet breakfast
You are right in the heart so the street noise, duomo bells, marching band and concerts mean it's not a quiet stay or longer than 6 hours sleep at night (so not one for lazy lie ins or early nights)
Location was fantastic! Breakfast was consistent each morning with a lovely coffee made to your specifications. Plenty of room for our family of 4 (2 girls aged 7 & 10)
My girls would have liked some English chanels on the tv! But otherwise it was perfect! :)
Location is excellent! The staff is friendly and helpful
The beds are too hard and breakfast too basic
Location is very very good, so that was the point I've booked this hotel. You are at the square of amalfi and if you book a suite with balcony sea view it is big enough for a couple. At night, it's very good to drink something on balcony and watching people or sea. Staff was very helpful and nice. I wanted to rent a car and lady in reception booked a cabrio fiat 500c for me in a minute. Clean, Comfortable and safe. I'm happy!
Room can be look oldfashioned for some people. Room has no wifi, even it's 3€ for an hour near reception, they give you a code for it.
Location. Can't beat it.
Everything was good
Good and convenient location, staff is friendly and very helpful.
Facilities are a little bit old and charge for wifi.
excellent value for money ,very friendly staff
We stayed at the Hotel Fontana for a week. The hotel is centrally placed and our room has furnished very nicely. It has very high ceilings and a small lounge area and two balconies. I enjoyed my drink at the balcony after our LONG walks when we get back to hotel. The receptionist Luana spoke excellent English and was very informative - buses, trains, directions etc. She should be working at the tourist office they were useless! I liked Amalfi and our walks around the area I would stay again at the Hotel Fontana maybe not for a week!
The hotel is centrally placed but the view of the sea does not compensate for the traffic. It was noisy early in morning untill late in the evening. We got used to it after couple of days or we were very tired because of our long walks just went to sleep and we did not hear the noise. But I still think it is a great hotel but they need to brighten up their breakfast room and far too much cakes!!
breakfasts centre location
no lounge area building work being carried out overnight opposite our room (we did change rooms)
The central location, (Right on the town square) was a bonus. As advertised, we had a room with, not one, but two balconies. Breakfast was all we could ask for, and more. The staff were really friendly and helpful. If we were to visit Amalphi, The Fontana would be our choice.
Room lighting was a bit subdued. Replace a few blown light globes would be all it takes. That's all, so no gripes from us.
The location - right in the heart of town, piazza on one side, sea on the other.
The outside refurbishment work. We had not been advised that this was happening before we arrived. Which meant that our suite, internally perfect, had all three balconies covered in scaffolding with workmen starting at 7am every morning. The hotel did move us on our second day but it would have been preferable to have been told in advance.
Location Master suite balcony - view Staff generally pleasant
Poor value for money, particular the master suite. Poor hotel & room facilities - incredibly dated & dont meet the standard you would expect for the price they command. No facility to make tea/coffee in room & when asked the staff wouldn't serve tea/coffee despite offering to pay for it Breakfast very basic - only serve pastries, cakes & bread/toast & the later you arrive, the greater the choice reduces as they dont appear to replenish Work to the exterior had commenced when we arrived (09-Apr - 13-Apr) - every morning at 7:00am sharp the workmen would arrive & the banging / drilling would begin. Our balcony was often littered with debrit & shards of brick / plaster. When we enquired about the possibility of starting the work later, the staff were very unhelpful & unapologetic. There was no attempt to make good & true to form the noise continued the following morning. The suites (room 102 & 103) in particular are located very close to reception/breakfast room & they dont offer much privacy - you can here all the morning disturbance at breakfast & the majority of calls/conversations taking place through out the day in reception. Overall I guess it's meets (just) its 3* standard, but an advisory note, the suites are not worth the money. We payed €125/per night & you're merely gaining a balcony & a little extra space - that's it! Would not return sadly :-(
