Hotel Canova is just down the road from the beautiful basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, in the heart of Rome. Walk to the Coliseum in less than 10 minutes. This small hotel was once a monastery.

Hotel California is 170 yards from Termini Train and Metro Station, and is surrounded by restaurants and bars. It features air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen satellite TV.
Score from 1716 reviews Very good
This hotel is really good. The location is excellent (next to the “Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore”, 10 minutes walking to the Coliseum, restaurants and groceries nearby, close to the metro and to Termini train station), staff is very helpful, Wi-Fi worked fine in my room, comfortable, clean, safe and so on.
Breakfast is good, but is could be a little better
The roof terrace
I did not like that poor wifi in my bedroom! Had to sit in the damn lobby! With the grumpy Man with circle Glasses and a deep voice! He was SO RUDE! The breakfast staff were perfect.
Size of room and breakfast
Staff not very helpful. Room facilities were poor with broken toilet seat poor water pressure, noisy toilet, door lock was faulty, air conditioner was loud, room safe worked but wasn't secured so anyone could carry it away,in general the rooms need refurbishment as they are dated and in poor condition with patches, water stains.
Condition of room, needs maintenance.
Location is excellent. Five min walk fron train station.
Air conditionning too load and direct on the bed. Tv only 7 channel, and one in english (CNN). Only bad news so not fun to watch.
breakfasts great lovely roof terrace spacious rooms location
tired fabric needs renovation
We have stayed here every time we have stayed in Rome, the hotel may need a bit updating eg decorating but we only use it as a base and we keep going back because of the way we are treated by the staff, they are lovely and friendly and you can't beat customer service, we will of course be returning next time we visit rome
Friendly staff, excellent location for sights.
Breakfast could have been better.
We booked for a triple room at a reasonable price and the room was fine - spacious with a large bathroom including bath and shower.
A little faded and with few facilities. Breakfast very ordinary. Still quite a walk to get buses or metro.
Breakfast was included.
Shower head didn't stay up. Wifi coverage was really bad. Room smelt like a bathroom. Bathroom smelt like sewerage. Bedsheets were never changed. No laundry service. Heating system wasn't working. No hot beverage service in room. Although we got a new room after complaining some of these things were still 2 star hotel-like. This is the worst 4star hotel we've ever stayed in.
I liked the location close to station
The wifi in the room was in front of the door only. The wallpaper and the bathroom need to be renovated. In the bar there was an old bread with blue fungus on it we requested ro be removed but no one did it. I came to this hotel because last year i tried the eliseo hotel from the leonardi Hotels and it was great i thought this one is too but it wasn't
Great location very nice largeroom
Only shower and no bath but size of room and comfort made up for that. No tea or coffee making facilities in room and when rung reception couldnt make us ciffee as he was on desk alone ot was quite late to be fair
no kettle in the room
Location is great!
don't have a kettle
I love staying at the Gallia. Its in a brilliant location. Walking distance to the Coliseum, 5min walk from Termini Station. Frankly, its not far from anything. Breakfast is great staff are attentive. And the restaurant just down the road, about 5 doors down had a table for me every night with an extensive menu and brilliant staff.
The staff, breakfast and hotel itself were more than we expected. This was a hotel I would come back to again.
No complaints other than a little updating
single room too small
The service was what made our stay worthwhile. -Roberto and Alessandro were very helpful and had great attotude and attention. -Were provided with maps, directions and recoendations to restaurants. -Concern for customer, although there was no way to use my baby bottle sterelizer, Alessandro used steam water from a coffee machine to try and sterelize the baby bottles. Lucky that I brought a bottle warmer with me to heat up baby bottles. -Very close to main train:bus station 5 min. Colosseum 15 min.
Not a four star hotel, please remove this rating. -Ripped wall paper - one can tell when new wall paper was replaced, only half wall was replaced. One half was old and dirty whole the other half was new. -No microwave/hot plate/stove available to boil water or sterelize bany bottled or watm up baby food. -Continental breakfast, very limited. -No iron available in rooms or even upon request at hotel.
Location, and the Brekfast view.
Location was excellent, everything was a short walk.
Air con unit was noisy. Staff were not enthusiastic about resolving issues. We had to tell them that we wanted the Air con fixed or a new room as they did not even offer it. No hotel parking!! Hotel claims 4 stars but we failed to see why.
Comfortable rooms Good breakfast, buffet style.
Lift can only take 3 people.
Nice big comfy bed
Small, slow lift No bar or restaurant
Nothing stands out. Except Roberto at the desk who at least tried to be helpful
Hotel was decrepit from wet hall ways to non sealing doors (that open due to the gaps between door & jam) to paper thin pillows made for snakes and staff that don't speak English and just answering a question seems like a major effort. I can say more but you get the picture.
