Great place to stay in Naples, would definitely come back. Dog Garibaldi welcoming guests was our favorite!
Pickpockets are rife, and traffic horrendous
Minor things--the 'bar' where breakfast is served is too small for all the guests, but if necessary you can take it to your room on a tray. There are stalls selling cheap tat on the street outside, traders aren't aggressive but leave lots of rubbish, don't let first impressions of the area put you off!
Hotel Garibaldi is in the heart of Naples, good value and very convenient for the rail station and restaurants. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the counter is usually manned by staff with good English. Rooms are a good size, clean, towels and bed linen changed every day. Excellent continental breakfast, the coffee was better than in most of the cafes. Would definitely stay again.
Street noise during the day due to location, but fairly quiet at night.
Very helpful guys at reception. Clean towels everyday, good wifi signal. Basic facilities, but good value for money. Simple, tasty breakfast of crossiants and coffee served to your table by friendly staff.
It was easy to walk and see the most important places: Duomo, Dante and Bellini squires,Da Michele pizzeria, shops etc... The personal was excellent. It was gold at the room and they corrected it quickly.
This is one of those family-ran hotels where you appreciate the personal touch, something you rarely see in big hotel chains. Anyway, it was our choice because of its location, but for the sake of price, as well. It is located couple of steps from the Piazza Garibaldi, huge square in front of Napoli Centrale, the main train station in Napoli. This provides good connection to all Campania destinations, but gives you jitters at late night, when strange fellas wander all over the Piazza. Luckily, no problems whatsoever. Hotel itself is in historical building, it is clean and in pretty good shape. Rooms are spacious and well kept, bathrooms are clean, and they keep changing the towels every day. Breakfast is served in small dining room, just above the entrance, with the view on the hilarious morning market of fake brands outside. If you are a noise-nazi like me, ask for the more silent room: ours was right in front of the dining, so we heard every single sound of cutlery. Maybe some noise-reduction would be smart. Beds are big and comfortable. Staff is very friendly and kind, and in case you have no idea where to go/what to do, they will give you all the info, and in case you want to avoid public transport they can arrange their own. Hotel has free wifi. Altogether, high value+friendly prices. And, of course, all the best to the staff: continuate così, amici.
Close to the station but yet well insulated and no noise in the room. Clean. Staff were very friendly. We chose this hotel because we needed to leave Naples by train early in the morning. Would stay here again if circumstances were the same.
1. Bed too hard for me personally so not the best sleep quality. 2. Non smoking hotel but smell of cigarettes in room! 3. Croissants for breakfast cold and not fresh. It would be nice to have more choices for breakfast (fresh pastries, breads, cheese, eggs, juice)
1. Great location close to Garibaldi Plazza, train station, walking distance to most local attractions. 2. Very friendly & helpful staff. 3. Reception staffed 24hrs. 4. Room was good with view over the square. 5. Different traditional cake everyday.
There're so many trash near the station... Though it's nothing to do with the hotel but living in such a environment is still not so comfortable...
Staff very nice! I forgot my iPad in the room and I was sooo happy when I get it back immediately I returned to the hotel. Also the restaurant he recommend is quite good and can get a 10% discount. Location is good too, quite near the station, and has a supermarket just nearby. Change-over plug offered
It's too noisy day and night time if you have the windows open.
The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was good. The location of the hotel is good is walking distance of the station and 15 min to the marina and town centre.
Immediate area a bit rough but expected as wanted to be near the station.
Every day, promptly at 7 a.m., the staff would set up for breakfast and people came in to eat. Unfortunately, this was the loudest thing in the WORLD, as far as this hotel goes, and our sleep was disturbed every single day. We opted not to buy the room package that included breakfast (it was something like 5 Euros extra per person, per day -- what the hell is that?!) and so were punished this way. Actually, the hotel was loud at all hours of the day. I was awoken more times than I care to remember by people running up the stairs and yelling, or people having conversations (seemingly) right outside our door, with people at the other end of the hall. I don't get it. But other than the noise, no complaints.
You really can't beat the location of this place. It was maybe 10 minutes from the train station, though on first glance I thought it was a really scary neighborhood. Turns out, that's just Naples! We stayed here for 4 nights, and were very happy with our stay. Clean, cool, and we were happy with the cost.
No fridge Breakfast too basic Breakfast room too small No English speaking tv channel Balcony door seemed little insecure
1. Good wifi 2. Comfortable beds 3. Friendly staff 4. Powerful and hot shower 5. Good air con 6. Balcony in room 7. Working safe 8. Maids keep room very clean
The neighbourhood is dirty but all of Naples is. Wifi didn't work in the room unless you opened the door and stood in the doorway.
We found the location to be very central and in walking distance to most visitor sites, the main shopping district, train station etc. The room was a good size and comfortable and a good breakfast was included. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is near the station and the place was nice. The staffs were very accommodating and friendly.
Scruffy area lots of garbage in the streets.
Nice staff who helped us with the suitcases up the stairs, since there is no lift. Beautful cocker spaniel, named Garibaldi, was greeting us in the reception.
Location: We arrived in Naples late at night so the short walk from Napoli Centrale Train Station felt very long and very unsafe. I do not recommend checking-in after dark, although there is someone at the desk 24 hours and they were friendly and spoke English well. On Sundays there is a Flea Market right outside on the street so it is busy and noisy, so you may want to use the air conditioner instead of opening a window. Most importantly it is a 5 minute walk away from the best pizza place in Naples, Da Michele (closed Sundays). There is often a wait and we unfortunately got in too late to go there but there was another pizza place nearby that was decent. The front desk staff can help you with recommendations like these. Price: Somewhere in the mid-range. Too cheap in Naples will get you something gross and unsafe, so this is probably the most comfortable for the most reasonable price. Room: We stayed in room 107, which was up 2 flights of stairs (no lift) and across the hall from the breakfast area. Small, clean, older style furnishings, and Free wifi in room, but you need the password so be sure to get it from the front desk at check-in. Breakfast: Is NOT necessarily included, so be sure to check. It was a typical European breakfast with pastries, yogurt, coffee, cereal, etc. flat fee of 5 euros per person. It was ok.
- there is a street market during morning hours, so there is kind of noisy (not every day, not regularly - at least I haven't noticed any pattern - but often) - you could feel uncomfortable due to these "strange" people hanging around streets. I didn't face any problem because of them so I suppose it was only the feeling
- very nice service and support - room space is enough if you are focused on sightseeing through the old day (use the room only to refresh and sleep) - very close to train station, bus and tram stop, as well as to subway - Naples is not so dirty as I was warned. There is kind of messy, especially after street market is finished but it's not so bad - and the most important - Naples is the magnificent. The most beautiful city I've ever seen
In the late evenings the square in front becomes a local version of Chinatown, loud oriental music and folks doing Tai-Chi included. In the mornings it turns into a bustling marketplace. So if you have a room facing the square but fancy some sleep make sure to bring your earplugs.
A short walk from the train station, this hotel is good value for money. The rooms are immaculate if a little worn, the staff helpful and the breakfasts abundant (only pastries and coffee though). The location makes this a perfect base for exporing the historical center as well as shopping sprees.
neighborhood, unauthorized market around leaves a lot of trash in the afternoon. breakfast is too Italian, no eggs left after 9 a.m.
Neighborhood a bit dingy
Friendly and helpful staff (e.g. luggage carried up stairs; taxi pickup, etc); Superb breakfast offering; Easy access to train/subway stations; Comfortable room
We had to change rooms soon after check in because when it started to rain a troupe of ants came out of the floor!
Right next to the Garibaldi train station, helpful staff. The restaurant just down the road, called "La Cantina Dei Mille", is delish! Our change-of-room necessity was quickly and seamlessly organised.
Handy location, clean rooms informative staff, good breakfast.
The far end of the street was a bit of a dodgey looking area and a bit grubby
Good Location in general as not far from square and train station. Room comfortable enough
