The Machiavelli Palace is set in a 14th-century convent, 300 metres from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Its roof garden overlooks the historic centre of Florence, and Wi-Fi is free throughout.

dark rooms, I needed earplugs to sleep as I could hear noise of other guests from the corridor as if they were inside my room.
thanks Mr Marco for all the help!
two to three mosquitoes!
Best of all was the hosts, especially Marco. He was very generous in providing helpful advice that saved us time, money, and headaches. Rating rooms is important but equally important is how helpful the hosts are. Marco gets a five star rating.
Beds were a little small.
Staff were fantastic
No opening windows although had doors to a small balcony which we opened
Proximity to locations Good attentive staff and owners
Very poor wifi A/C didn't work and leaked water Ok mattress Terrible bathroom that had a big hole in it on the wall leading to god knows where. But they fixed it on the second day.
Clean, bright, spacious room. Friendly, helpful hosts. Proximity to Duomo, Accademia and Uffizi Gallery. Quiet location.
No parking. Arranged by host for 20 euros a day.
I loved everything. The owners, Marco and Manuella were exceptional kind, concerned, helpful and lovely. I was greeted with a cold glass of ice water, my bags were taken to my room while I was signing in, Marco took me to the room and showed me how to work the tv, Playstation, ac, lights, everything. The hotel is small and charming. Guidance and a map was given to help me get around Florence and places to dine. Breakfast was lovely and filling and included homemade and brewed on the spot cappuccinos. There is even a bar should you wish to unwind in the sitting room after a hard days sightseeing. Easy access to bus lines, but everything can be walked to. The Piazza San Macro which has some great eateries and restaurants, and is in front of The Accademia, is only two blocks away. I can't wait to go back.
I like to have some coffee as I get ready for the day (showering, dressing, make-up, etc), and there is no coffee or tea maker in the rooms and no access to the breakfast (that is included in the room price) until 0730 AM. I just walked across the street to the Café Cavour for a large cappuccino to drink while I got ready, then headed to breakfast at the hotel.
Lovely staff, good breakfast, comfortable room and great location
Location was ideal within walking distance to most sites. The hotel has nice character, rooms are high quality and a nice breakfast. The staff are very friendly and always helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visiting Florence.
Location was ok, not that close from the action but quiet during the night. Nice restaurants around. Breakfast was good. Staff, sometime complicated but very helpful. Fast internet everywhere. Lovely and comfortable lobby.
Everything I didn’t like was about the sleep quality. My double bed was two single beds attach together, I felt the space in the middle of the two mattress was not that comfortable. The pillow a little hard. The doors of the rooms are very old noisy and not sound prove, so soon in the morning, you are disturb by others clients that are checking out. A quiet sigh in the corridor would be appreciated.
Room was clean and quite comfortable (although older (antique?) furniture might not be to everyone's taste). The choice for breakfast was basic but everything was tasty and with real espresso (and variants) made by the staff, which is generally very friendly and helpful. Distance to Piazza del Duomo is less than 15 minutes of easy walking.
Somewhat noisy street.
Location was within walking distance to attractions. Breakfast was very nice. Rooms were Victorian style with period furniture. Little to no street noise, room was quiet.
A couple of items in the bathroom were broken, but nothing unbearable. Mattress was very hard. Stairway to hotel was dimly lit.
Staff is amazing. They speak English perfectly and are so friendly. Internet coverage was great all over the place. They even have a small library of books and DVD's which you can borrow. There are DVD players in rooms. Also good location and wonderful breakfast with lots of variety. We enjoyed staying in here so much.
As one of the earlier commenters have written, mosquito and spider bites.
The friedliness of Marco & Manuella - made it feel like home. Location is ideal.
Staff do not speak spanish
Excellent, friendly, helpful staff. Location - close to Accademia and center of town.
Very noisy room; solid walls but paper thin doors.
Marco was very nice and the breakfasts were lovely.
My reservation was for 3 nights and I was bitten by a spider or spiders all 3 nights. I was in Florence and had spider bites all over, especially my face.
Staff was extremely gracious beyond expectation. They made you feel welcome. Lovely and homey lobby / breakfast area. After a long day at work owner even gave us a ride to train station on his way home.
I felt very welcomed, nothing was too much trouble. It's all about the people they are sensational
I really liked the staff. The staff was excellent at making you feel at home.
The hosts were friendly and helpful. Every morning we were greeted warmly and the breakfast was great. I looked forward to my cappuccino each morning. Highly recommend!
Breakfast was fantastic. Staff very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed all aspects of our stay
We really enjoyed staying in this family owned Hotel. Marco and his staff are so very helpful and friendly. Though the hotel is old it was clean and comfy. The area was safe and in a great position to see all that Florence has to offer by foot or by bus. Breakfast was great. Restaurants and stores nearby. Loved our stay at Hotel Giglio :-)
Nothing to say here all good.
The staff make this hotel. They are extremely helpful and genuinely enjoy the business of travel hospitality.
I was a little concerned when I walked in to the dark first floor foyer. I think though that this is pretty typical of Florence once I have been there but it was a little intimidating to start with.
The staff was so nice and so helpful, the breakfast was great. We were sad to leave.
