Perfect location. Very good stuff. They helped us with everything - parking, sightseeing, dining places, etc. Will definitely recommend. A/C is very noisy and not cooling, Breakfast is quite limited and very quickly disappears because of many people for the small amount, Then you need to wait for it to renew.

The location was good, while at the same time not far from the motorway. On the other hand, this hotel offered private parking in a near by garage. But our big thanks go to the female receptionist, apart from being friendly and helpful she gave us good service while she also spoke quit good English. Breakfast: Satisfied as we had good food and service. During our holiday we stayed in three different hotels. When one compare like with like this was the most expensive one, but I regret to say that it was not up to standard as one expected. It is in a great need of a renovation.

The breakfast was good, but should not be served on plastic plates. We liked the location of the hotel for a city visit. Bathroom was very small, and not really suitable for family with bigger kids.

Small and nice hotel, very well positioned, right in the center of the city. An ancient building, yet fully renovated. Good value for money overall. Get ready to the narrow spaces, for example in the only elevator or the breakfast room, or to have your room's window right in front of another one. This is typical of old Genoa buildings, but some people may dislike this.

Great Location, great breakfast, internet free, good value. When I arrived at the hotel I told the front desk guy in the morning that I came to this hotel only to celebrate my 50th birthday in Italy. To please give me a nice room. When I went to the room that he gave me, it was the worst room that I've ever seen in my life. I told the cleaning lady that I did'nt like it and she was very nice to gave me a much nicer room. For the two days that I staid there he was not nice with me.

Good location for Genova, close to the marina and with lots of shops, restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. We went with three motorbikes and whilst there is free parking available within a five minute walk, we left them in an underground garage for ten euros a day. The breakfast was excellent with a selection of fresh pastries, breads and cereals.

The hotel is very close to the railway station and an easy walk. It is located very close to everything including the marina. Very nice staff, excellent English and very helpful. The hotel is a very classic European hotel, small but beautiful inside. Very romantic. The Breakfast was excellent and there is some on duty 24 hours, to get you some tea etc. I can recommend this hotel with no problem. I wish we had stayed longer. Also the owner has kept historical items for the life of the hotel, so you can tell he really cares about it.

Location great with easy walking to waterfront, and old town, meals etc. Needed to injclude fruit for breakfast as I am gluten and dairy free. Hotel stay was marred by difficulty with parking our car after 11pm. Even though we told receptionist that we had parked in front of the parking door he said it was ok . We said we would shift at 7am when building was opened. But We were towed away and cost e192 to retreave. This equates to $nz390 so a lot of money for bad advice. Very cross with this outcome.

The hotel is in a very central location and when we arrived there was work on the road outside, so it did not look too attractive. The proprieter was very apologetic and came outside to direct us to an underground car park a few metres away. They had kindly organised a parking space for us. This was a very friendly hotel, with lots of nice touches to make you feel welcome, complementary water in refridgerator, selection of travel books and free computer use etc, It is a bit dated but we had a spacious room with good bed and linen and slept very well. The staff made sure that we oriented ourselves with the city and provided useful maps etc. We only had a day in Genova but loved what we saw and would definitely want to return. Hotel Helvetia was great for us because of its excellent central location and the friendliness of the staff. We would have no hesitation in returning.

The hotel is ideally situated. It is about half a mile from the railway station for trips to the resorts along the coast. It is uphill but frequent buses will take you there, though if you do go by bus you will miss interesting palaces and cafes. What you cannot miss is the fantastic church just across the road.Baroque and then some! Just around the corner towards the fascinating old port are some excellent restaurants and cafes (a bright modern one had just opened to complement the traditional ones). If you are travelling with your wife or girl friend beware of all the wonderful shops in town. Apart from the city itself with its art galleries, churches, old port and palaces the stars of this show are undoubtably the excellent and informative hotel staff who all show that they care about you and will always go the extra mile to help.
