We booked the il Faro for the convenience to the ferries. We really liked it for the friendliness of the staff and it's quaint coziness!
Fantastic staff; immediately upon arrival they were expecting us and had rooms ready to go. Whether recommending restaurants, beaches or tours, they were consistently helpful. On top of that, they were willing to let us hang out on the rooftop sunning area after hours to sip wine and enjoy the evening. Highly recommend the hotel and you can't beat the ocean view!
Strangely set up rooms and the lack of carpeting left the floor feeling as sandy as the beach. Sure carpet ground in with sand isn't great either, but it's not comfortable to walk along a cold, sandy tile floor. Also, the towels were uncomfortably rough and lacked absorbency.
All facilities were as basic as you could ever imagine.
I appreciated when the desk attendant helped me with my italian
The room was the worst and way overpriced considering that the window was at street level right next to a busy road. The Wi-Fi barely ever worked and nothing was ever done to fix it after a complaint. The hotel generally lacks charm and the staff is questionnable. I think that people pay the big price because it is located at the pier. But I don't see why other locations can't be just as enjoyable. When compared to another hotel we stayed at for less, (Hotel Desiree, which i highly recommend for those on a budget), there was nothing worthy of such a price. To be avoided.
Good location near the ferryterminal to Capri. The stuff was very helpful .The restaurant have very good seafood.Big room with seaview.I will come back next time I visit Sorrento
The breakfast was ok but I miss some vegetables.
Great location if travelling to Amalfi or Capri by ferry staff very helpful and friendly
Noise of traffic travelling up steep hill at rear of hotel made sleep difficult. also need to tell staff if you require air con as its turned off at reception. you cant sleep with balcony door open because of noise also need to be informed of lift access from top of cliff if travelling by foot
Close to the ferry. Staff was helpful.
Hotel was by the marina at the bottom of the cliff. Rest of Sorrento was at the top!
View from window Blue bedspread
Breakfast was dismal Staff seemed unhappy Hotel is at bottom of cliff so either pay €1 to use the lift or walk up 120+ steps. Internet only in lobby which is nuts for this day and age.
The best thing about this hotel is its unique location on the Sorrento waterfront -- next to the ferry terminal, beaches (including a tiny public one 5 mins away) and several waterfront restaurants. (One can climb up to the centre of town in 5-10 minutes or take a shuttle bus to the station, and there's also a lift/elevator up the cliffside.) The staff are avery friendly, and the breakfast was pretty good for Italy. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Sorrento, at least during the summer.
The standard of the rooms is ok though they won't please those who are fussy. Some rooms are also small (others big) and while the sea- front ones have a great view, some may not. The former have a bit of road noise but it wasn't a problem for us. The beds were a little hard, and the towels thin. Sometimes the wifi was slow/congested in the evening.
This place was incredible and would have been perfect except for the wifi going out every night. We had room 307. Huge room. Huge deck overlooking the ocean. The restaurant had great food. Service was slow, but that seems to be the way in italy,so we went with it. Super value and we will definitely sray here again if we return
Spotty wifi and No wifi in the late evenings.
The staff was very nice and paid good attention to us. The restaurant was nice with great great pizza:))
It was very noisy, no reception in the room. The rooms were dark and humid.
The staff, the location was inconvenient as away from main activities, The breakfasts did not offer much variety and were not up to the standards of several Italian hotels we stayed at
Only location is convenient
Cleanness and noise
very close to the port if you would like to go to Capri, the hotel has a sun terrace from where the view to the Sea and to the Vesuv is beautiful
rooms are very small and not too clean
Very little, location was good and that's about it
Booking.com was very misleading with this hotel. Room had no windows (said it had a sea view) and we had to share a vent with room below so we could hear each other.
The room view on the sea and the Vesuvio The situation next to the port
Insuffisant sonorisation with other rooms Small room
Kind and helpful staff. Central location. Next to the beach. Free wifi. Not expensive. Overall, we were satisfied.
Too much noise. Not very clean. Have to climb a lot of stairs to get to the city. Breakfast is only sweet cakes + only one type of cheese, one type of ham and one type of salty bread. Wifi doesn't work every time.
Location and staff were good.
The sun terace was usually covered in the laundry. Breakfast was poor.
Great location! Really close to the Capri boat tour. The restaurant right near the water was excellent as well!
Wifi was not good at all.
Perfect location, overlooking the water, we had an amazing view with a huge terrace, hospitality was amazing, generous, friendly staff, family owned - you can tell they take pride in making their guests feel welcome.
Location and verry verry nice and helpfull staff
Noise at night
Price, location, staff and facilities
Breakfast. Very small rooms, Entry door was sliding as there was no room to open a normal door
Great location for ferry. Great helpful staff. Small attic room with water view but suitable for 1 night
Small room if staying long term
