Hotel Minerva  

There were two gentlemen desk clerks and the bellhop that were very gracious and customer friendly.

The hotel needs updating. Overall it has a tired look and no amount of cleaning is going to take care of the appearance. Some of the hotel staff are standoffish or downright surly. We heard one clerk screaming on the phone to a guest at the hotel when they needed help operating the a/C.

Nice hotel, perfect location (quiet room, 10 min walk to "everything")

Hotel Minerva was a great choice. It was about 10 minutes (decent) walk to the main center. I spent much time considering other reviews. I cannot tell you how pleased we were when we arrived. Our room was modern, very clean and of a decent size, both bedroom and bathroom (with large shower). I was worried about the distance to the main attractions but this was not a problem. The hotel is based just within the city wall but if you are fit or not it is not a problem to walk from. The road winds only gradually up from here (not uphill as other reviews had mentioned). I guess only if you were very elderly or had problems walking then it might not suit you. Otherwise it's a fantastic base for Siena. The breakfast was substantial and delicious with full choice of pastries, cereals, juice, coffee, water, fruit, yogurt. Yum. A great stay apart from the renovations happening on the floor (first floor) that we were staying on, but the porter (only) did apologise. I suggest that you try not to stay on this floor if you have the option! It did get a bit noisy with the builder's early (7am) starts and then staying late into the evening (7pm) the day we were there.

The day (bald) hotel receptionist was not friendly, he did not welcome or show us the direction of our room, just handed the key and continued to do what he had been doing prior to our arrival. The staff are not very professional - shouting across the lobby to each other as well as us, due to giving us a room they realised (after giving the key) wasn't ready, so we went back (after being shouted at) to get the new key. We had become accustomed to Italian's (different) style of business, so this was not a problem for our stay. However, the evening receptionist was a lovely older man who seemed very kind and helpful. Hotel Minerva is a great three star and really great base for visiting Siena. I would stay here again.

Very clean, comfortable parking, comfortable location to reach the centre.

Our room had a lovely view, and was really clean, but I caught a glance at a re-newed room and there was a deep difference, so maybe next time I'll ask for a renewed room :-)

Brand new furniture, very stylish and cool bathroom. Nice breakfast (but we are for the continental-sweet one, we didn't consider the international one). Good location, 5/10 minutes by feet and you are at the heart of Siena. Kind staff. Very good price/quality ratio.

Our room was a little cold and the heating system was quite noisy, so we switched it off during the night. Anyway, the room was not so cold even with the heater down and you can turn it on when you are out, so there's nothing yuo can't stand for 1 or 2 nights.

The Hotel MInerva was reasonably close to the train station- though it was up hill to get there- much better when we left! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was not very big- one of the smallest on our trip, but the view of old Siena was to die for!!! The breakfast was nice- lots to choose from and the hotel organized an excellent tour for us. We had a take-away meal one evening and the hotel very kindly provided a fork and plate for us inthe dining room,which was nice of them.

It could have had tea and coffee facilities in the hotel- and a bigger room, but it was fine!

The weather!!!

No bar, poor breakfast, poor service at breakfast, distance from town old fashioned hotel with no facilities.

Great location, but was dismayed to be asked to pay cash for parking. Hotel room was paid for with credit card, but parking was not possible to pay with the card. Really? Please insist on paying other than cash to assist the Italian's reducing their state debt.

Very clean, nice breakfast, and most important, good hot water !

Location inside the old city of siena in walking distance to all attractions

The hotel is situated rather near the city centre and the train station. About 15 min by walk. Rather good and big enough room and bathroom. Nice breakfest room. Very helpful stuff.

Close enough to everything yet out of the way of crowds. Quite comfortable and quiet. Good breakfast.

Pleasent hotel and staff, good location, good breakfast. A good honest hotel and easy place to stay
