Not much choice at breakfast
Well, what to say about Hotel Panama in Florence. We booked six nights via booking.com for about 130 Euro per night. We stayed here in september 2014, but we were absolutely not satisfied. Our first night was in room 404 which was very warm and humid, the airco does not function properly and we had no window with fresh air. After complaining, we were changed to room 401 which was a bit larger and the airco keeps the room cool… for one night, because the night after that, the airco was off again so we slept badly one night again. So we went on… one bad night, one good night, and one bad night again. The fourth night was good, airco was „reset” and does function well. The fifth night was good as well, but our last night, the airco does not function again and the owner said the technician will come tomorrow. So that makes three good nights and three nights in a warm, humid room because the airco does not work. A hotel is more than an airco, I know, but after a whole day walking, biking etc. we would like to rest and nothing but that. Staff is friendly, no doubt about that. Breakfast is simple (Italian style) but good and fresh… the only thing is the hotel is quite old, we thought maybe 30 or 40 years ago, this hotel was a real pearl in the city of Florence, but sometimes, you will have to keep some maintenance on the interior and the installations so they keep on working for the next ten years and so on… which was totally not the case. For example, we have airco in our private house and it should be maintained every year. In this hotel, there is so much dirt etc. in the unit in our room, it is not strange that the unit does not function properly. Some other things to mention: there are many mosquitos, so opening a window is not a real option; our bathroom was simple but okay, only the shower had a problem because water was not running down the drain.
Well located, close to city center. The team is really helpful and careful.
The balcony was not clean.
Far from city centre, room is very very small
Friendly staff; Tidy room;
Got charge for city tax. Breakfast was not my type at all. I'd like to have some fried eggs, bacon, sausage, ect.
Staff so friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Easy to find. Lovely spacious room. In city but quiet. Parking. It's in Florence!
The staff here cannot possibly do anymore to make sure you know the best way to explore Florence... so helpful! Room and breakfast was fab x
The staff is extremely engaging and gives very helpful tips and advice about exploring Florence.
the staff was extremely friendly the hotel as in architecture is great.. the balcony for the breakfast was great Free bikes was such a GREAT service they offered, throughout our 3 days stay we moved around with it. and so even though the hotel is not in the center, the bikes made it very easy to move around and compensated for being a bit out of the center facilities were good wifi was good the center was 10 mins by bike and around 20 mins walking... staff helped us make reservations for dinner and recommended some really really good places
the room had a very weird smell throughout the 3 days. Maybe it was the wood in the ceiling (some kind of moulds), or maybe the plants in the balcony the location was a bit far from the center
Helpful friendly staff. Good location. Lovely balcony. Quiet room.
Bathroom way too small for a normal size person.
1) ALL the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, without being obtrusive, probably the best I have encountered in 40 years of travelling 2) They pointed us in the direction of three local good value restaurants for dinner, which turned out to be excellent choices and we had very good service 3) We had a big and varied breakfast each day (the croissant man brings the fresh stuff at 4.30am each day, I saw him on the 1st day!) 4) We had two rooms and they ensured we were next door to each other which was most helpful
1) No tea-making facilities (I know, an English obsession!) 2) Bathroom was adequate in terms of size but would be an issue for bigger people than us 3) Boy did we get bitten by the mosquitoes (there is a canal nearby) - not a problem unique to this hotel I suspect as it was a pretty hot time of year. Should have taken some form of repellent!
Staff is really helpful, give us guidance for sightseeing.
Facilities are old and not very convenient for use.
The atmosphere provided by the staff, they were great.
nothing really. it was what it was, a nice clean budget hotel
10-15min walk to city center. It's a family-run hotel. all the stuff are friendly and helpful, and very good in english without italian accent !!! they have bikes for guests for free. I will recommend panama hotel to my friends.
shower room could be cleaner.
Friendliness of staff and very helpful with information about the city and how to go around. Room was great and cappuccino was offered at fair price!
