눉Well, what to say about Hotel Panama in Florence. We booked six nights
via booking.com for about 130 Euro per night. We stayed here in
september 2014, but we were absolutely not satisfied. Our first night
was in room 404 which was very warm and humid, the airco does not
function properly and we had no window with fresh air. After
complaining, we were changed to room 401 which was a bit larger and the
airco keeps the room cool… for one night, because the night after that,
the airco was off again so we slept badly one night again.
So we went on… one bad night, one good night, and one bad night again. The fourth night was good, airco was „reset” and does function well. The fifth night was good as well, but our last night, the airco does not function again and the owner said the technician will come tomorrow. So that makes three good nights and three nights in a warm, humid room because the airco does not work. A hotel is more than an airco, I know, but after a whole day walking, biking etc. we would like to rest and nothing but that.
Staff is friendly, no doubt about that. Breakfast is simple (Italian style) but good and fresh… the only thing is the hotel is quite old, we thought maybe 30 or 40 years ago, this hotel was a real pearl in the city of Florence, but sometimes, you will have to keep some maintenance on the interior and the installations so they keep on working for the next ten years and so on… which was totally not the case. For example, we have airco in our private house and it should be maintained every year. In this hotel, there is so much dirt etc. in the unit in our room, it is not strange that the unit does not function properly.
Some other things to mention: there are many mosquitos, so opening a window is not a real option; our bathroom was simple but okay, only the shower had a problem because water was not running down the drain.
