Area information

Along the Ionian coast there are places, which talk about the exciting history of Calabria: Bova, Roghudi, Roccaforte del Greco and Condofuri. Located in a hilly area, these towns gave once shelter to inhabitants from the Saracen storms. Moving forward in North Calabria, you will find places, where the Ancient Greek and the Byzantine Empire live together: Locri, Gerace, Caulonia, Riace (where were found the two famous bronze statues), Manasterace, Punta Stilo, Guardavalle, Sooverato, Copanello, Squillace (birthplace of Cassiodoro), Capo Colonna, Crotone (where Pitagora lived), Cirò (famous for its wine and for Olympic Games during the Ancient Greek), Punta Alice and the wonderful Sibari. Calabria has a very old history. What is more, Italy has inherited its name from a King who lived in Calabria, whose name was Italo.

Calabria preserves many important historic tracks in Sibari, Roccelletta di Borgia and Locri.
Do not forget to visit Stalettì, the Castrum Bizantino (located in Santa Maria de Vetere Squillacio), the convents with its vivariums, and Copanello, from where you can have a beautiful sea view.

Connections:

By airplane: Lamezia Terme Airport and Crotone Airport. Available bus shuttle to the hotel.
By train: Main railway station in Lamezia Terme. Connections with all directions.
By car: if you come from the south or from the north, take the highway A3 Salerno – Reggio Calebria, (exit Catanzaro). Take the freeway SS280 Lamezia Terme – Catanzaro until the exit to Soverato. Reach Catanzario Marina and go straight on the coast road SS 106 in Soverato direction. When you arrive at Copanello, follow directions for Stalettì.
If you are in the Ionian coast, take the SS106.
