Best Western Hotel Riviera  

The location was excellent for an over-night stay - the airport was very close and the shuttle service was very good. The guy on reception suggested somewhere to have dinner which was a great little place.

The free bike rental was a nice touch. The hotel is very close to to the beach. I stayed here for one night to catch a flight out of FCO-Rome the next morning.

I waited an hour an a half at the airport until the shuttle finally showed up!

Hotel has arrangements with a shuttle service to take passengers from/to Fumisino airport. Well located, short walk to the beach.

Virtually nothing. I've stayed at many Best Westerns in the past and have never been more disappointed in a stay.

Lets start with the basics. Check in was fairly routine, no complaints. My wife and I walked into the room and could smell what seemed to be the smell of the sewer. We were with several friends, which were also staying at the hotel (we had filled almost the entire floor), and didn't really have time to stay in the room. We were just dropping off our bags and heading into Rome. We dismissed this to the previous tenant (we checked in earlier than normal, around 11 am) and thought they must have used the toilet prior to leaving. The windows in the room were already opened and we assumed (mistake on our part) that the staff was just airing it out. We had a long day in Rome and by the time we got back we were exhausted. As soon as we opened the door the smell of sewer was overwhelming. We were too tired to gather up all our belongings and request another room, we had a pickup to the airport set up for 5 am which allowed us about 4 hours of sleep. My wife pulled back the covers of the bed and there were several black hairs all over the sheets. The more we looked, the more we saw...disgusting. We tried to get a few hours of sleep, but the odor got stronger through the night even with the bathroom door closed and the windows wide open. In the morning we were picked up for our ride to the airport (we didn't even shower because we thought we would only feel less clean). Six of us needed to leave at 5am to catch a flight. The front desk failed to set up the ride correctly and told the driver that there was five to pick up at five (he booked us in and knew we were all couples, not sure how you make that mistake). When the cab arrived he was unable to have enough seats and room for luggage. We had to stack on each others laps which was ridiculous.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Quiet place. Transportation to airport and Rome downtown is available.

The room I was given was OK for 1 person, but would be too small for a couple. Terrible smell in the bath (hope it was not all over other rooms). Airport shuttle transportation schedule is not strictly followed.

Great location short walk to the beautiful beach and many restaurants. Very helpful friendly staff. Breakfast was pretty nice with a good selection.

The hotel was close to the airport (10 minute drive).

The neighborhood and surrounding area was run down. This seems to be a summer area, so off-season, everything is closed and dirty.

Limited english speaking staff. No tea/coffee available in room, even though this was requested. Broken shower. Nowhere to eat. No cashpoints.

They have a shuttle service to/from airport which is a great thing overall. Great reception staff and nice rooms, well air conditioned.

There was no heat in our room till 5pm when the auto timer would turn it on. This may be a better choice in the summer but in the winter it seemed like it wasn't a great neighborhood. The front desk staff did mention that a lot of places were closed for the winter thus looking a bit deserted.

Our family spent an unexpected week at Hotel Riveria after Hurricane Sandy caused our flight to the US to be cancelled and we had to wait to get on another flight. The staff at the Riveria were wonderful, helping us to locate a travel agent, laundry mat, arranging local transportation, etc, etc. They held our room for us each day as we went to the airport to try to get home just asking for a call if we got on a flight so that they could release our room. Their hospitality, concern, humor, and flexibility helped to make this difficult week bearable. If we are ever in need of a room close to the Rome Airport, we will return to the Riveria.
