Great location Very helpful staff
If you're looking to stay in a hotel wit a little bit of history - this one is for you. Built around AD600 and right next to where Michaelangelo used to live, this hotel is ideally located and has a lot of character. The owner/managers are two brothers who will go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The breakfast is simple and a good way to start the day and the room size is just right for the amount you pay. Best value hotel in Florence - highly recommended.
Didn't bother my wife or I as we are both fit and able, but the hotel has no elevator so I wouldn't recommend it if you have difficulties going up and down stairs.
location very good wifi
Staff were very helpful and informative, they gave great restaurant recommendations. Nice hot shower. Very good value for the money.
Room a bit small, bathroom a bit small. Word of advice, to NOT try to drive into Florence, especially without a GPS. Also parking lots are expensive. If you have a car, park outside the old town and walk or cab to your hotel.
The location is brilliant, close to all major sights but quiet enough for a good nights sleep. Only a 15 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station. For the money, the rooms were spacious (we were granted a free upgrade) and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with great coffee. The staff were absolutely lovely and most accommodating. Made our stay in Florence very enjoyable!
Generally no complaints. Wifi was slow at peak times. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but we were able to ask for a hot drink to be brought up!
Location, friendliness and knowledge of the staff. Lots of good recommendations for evening meals and places to visit
Booked a twin room, beds were very tiny. I am a small person and thought I would Fall out of bed, would not be suitable for males
Couldn't be happier with my stay and this small, cosy hotel. Super friendly and helpful staff, perfect location, clean and comfortable room - all for a very good price too. No problem if you go on a night out and get back late, there's always someone to let you in. Also, our flight back was in the afternoon, so we were kindly offered to leave our luggage in the reception and pick it whenever we wanted, which saved us a lot of hassle carrying it around Florence.
The hotel is located right in the heart of Florence and makes exploring the area so easy. Mario and Gabriele and their staff were so welcoming and helpful and assisted us in knowing where to visit in the area. Bags are carried upstairs for us and no questions were an issue. The hotel itself has a great historic feel and is exceptionally clean. A great spot to enjoy Florence from.
Walked to major sites and the brothers who own the hotel treated us like family. Enjoyed the added service of valet parking offered to us as an optional add on.
Great location, and it cannot be better. Everything is of a short walking distance from the hotel. Staff, Mario and Gabriello, were very helpful. This is the great benefit of staying in a hotel that is managed and run by its owners. They pay great attention to the customers needs, and can help a lot in train bookings, suggesting activities to be done in the city, etc... Breakfast is very good compared to any other hotel of the same class in Italy. Room rate is very cheap compared to what you get. WIFI was working very fine. in fact, they have 2 wifi networks in oorder to make sure that signal covers all rooms Room is very quite with a double-glass window.
Kind and helpful staff
Bad steps and poor breakfast
The location was great for our travel plans We were visiting our daughter who I studying in Florence the staff was friendly and helpful the room was clean and comphortable. It was a one night stay for us as we left the next day for travel with our daughter. The hotel is very small only a few rooms and very close to the plaza Santa Croce less then a minute walk. I would recommend the hotel. The breakfast was good and lite typical of a smaller place. breads and fruit yogurt and lite contenetial fair (No meats).
The shower was amount the smallest we have seen. Smaller then a RV shower. The only other thing out of sorts was the 17" TV did not work but that was not a factor for us. I notified the staff as we left and he was going to look into it. We don't even really need a tv. I ou mention as it was the only thing that was an issue
Right in the heart of the historical old area of the city. A great little boutique hotel. Compact but very comfortable and very pleasant, helpful staff.
Staff friendliness and helpfulness. We were welcomed with free fresh juices more than once. Location is perfect!
The guys at Hotel Santa Croce were wonderful. They were warm and welcoming on arrival, offered juice and to carry our bags. Nothing was too much trouble and they even took time to help us get tickets for the Uffizi gallery when the websites were sold out. Thanks for a friendly stay.
Wonderful, historic building. Helpful, attentive staff.
historic nature of the hotel and location.
it got noisy in the streets at night when young people were coming home and since we were on 1st floor, it woke us up.
Friendly and very helpful staff, very good breakfast, central location, remodelled washroom, value for money. We felt well looked after and were very happy with our choice.
The main disadvantages were those of an older building in the historic centre: small rooms and no lift (but the staff carried our bags). The beds were comfortable enough but less than ideal.
Excellent welcome from the two hosts who went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at home in Florence. Highly recommended.
Decoration and location
Refrigerator was not available in room
Wow the staff were so helpful and friendly telling us the best places to eat and see as our time was limited. I can't recommend it enough
In the heart of Florence in an ancient building: this is excellent. Rooms very tidy, beds comfortable. Fresh breakfast. Valet parking at very reasonable cost. Service a 10+. This is the best place we stayed in the whole of Tuscany.
Superb location near to Santa Croce. Very helpful staff. The hotel also has an arrangement with a nearby restaurant which gives 10% off meals. The hotel is full of character, hardly surprising as it is in a listed building! We thoroughly enjoyed our week there, even if the steep & rather narrow stairs were a trial.
The shower was to small that I could not fit inside
We chose this location based on location and budget. We wanted to be central but wanted to save some money as well. The small hotel is pretty easy. Once you're in, you are greeted by one of the friendly staff members and brought a refreshing welcome drink. The guys help you with your luggage and get you checked in pretty quick. The breakfast is pretty basic - coffee/cappuccino/expresso, breads, jams and cereals but that's typical in Italy. The hidden gem here is they have partnered with a local restaurant called "Trattoria Anita" and provide 10% off coupons for dinners there. At first we weren't sure of this, but after other reviews of Anita, we found out it was worth a try. I reviewed Anita in another review but in short, the food there is FANTASTIC! We actually went back to Anita a 2nd night! My mom and sister are coming to Florence in a couple months and I've already told them they have to book here at the Hotel Santa Croce. We would stay here again too if/when we return to Florence. Great staff!!
