This hotel's location is ideal since a lot of attractions are near Santa Maria Novella square. However the hotel was nearly impossible to find for those new to the city, especially at night - we had to wander around for 30 minutes asking where it was located. They really need a big bright sign and clear directions. The amenities are a great value for the money and the staff is remarkably helpful, with rental cars, planning and restaurant recommendations. The breakfast is great for the EU - nice to fill up and hold your appetite thru the day.
The hotel had shut off its air conditioning entirely for the winter, so the rooms were very hot and stuffy at night. There was no air circulation. Opening the window is simply not an option - ambulances screaming by at all hours, cars and mopeds revving their engines, church bells going off on the hour, etc. makes sleeping impossible. Also it is probably common knowledge but new to us - the water in the toilet is not the freshwater they use for the sink / shower so a strong bleach or cleaning odor comes in the bathroom every time you flush. It goes away after a few minutes.
We loved the decor, the location, the service, the staff and our room. The breakfast was incredible and the room rate was a bargain. I would highly recommend this hotel to experienced travelers.
Nothing but a small plaque next to the door identified the hotel and it was a little difficult to find. Our room was located directly above an Irish Bar that was a bit noisy late in the evenings. However, we had a great view of the church and the entire piazza.
Booked this hotel due to last minute change of holiday plans. Reviews were correct great room with view of Santa Maria Novella! Lovely terrace on top of hotel with excellent views of the city. Great breakfast choices.
There are a few late bars below the rooms on the piazza side which can be a little noisy
LOVED the location. Staff was excellent. All around great experience.
That we had to leave....
Room on two levels with bathroom on different floor to the bedroom and we had to change elevators to get to and from the room. Breakfast was uninspired and average fare. Considering the cost I expected more!!!
The staff, facilities and location are great. An excellent full breakfast is provided including hot and cold items. The manager and his staff went out of their way to help find luggage lost by the airlines.
Wifi may not work in your room.
Stay twice first room small but comfortable on our return upgraded to a larger room at no extra cost. Would stay here again.
- in the heart of the city. Within minutes to Train station and to the attraction sight. -15 minutes walk to Car rental company - Friendly staff - Wifi included. Clean room, clean shower room. Slippers provided - Wide spread of breakfast
-The hotel signage is too small. - The room facing the square at 2nd floor with a restaurant/pub downstair could be a disturbance with people talking till late night.
Breakfast was very good; rooms were enough big and newly renovated; quite big fitness room with nice small sauna
Fitness room does not include fitness machines for muscular training except one bench and very tiny hantels (up to 10 kg). Should have at least 3-4 machines for muscular training, more hantels with weight up to 28 kg, as there is enough space to place them. Terrace may have sofas as the present chairs and tables were not comfortable to sit doen and enjoy nice views of Florence
The room was well appointed. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices. The location was exceptional.
The location is excellent and the hotel rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. Wifi was good and the breakfast included was nice.
The room we had was split level - the bathroom, mini bar and sofa/lounge was on the ground floor, the wardrobe, safe and storage space was mid- stair case and then the bedroom was up a hefty flight of stairs. Unfortunately the unconventional layout meant that our stay was a little uncomfortable and also, the hairdryer could not be plugged into the bathroom socket and there were no other mirrors in the entire room. It was a shame as the hotel was lovely but it felt like management had never thought through the use and functionality of the room.
The rooms were very comfortable, great atmosphere and staff especially reception staff were very friendly and accomodating. The location was excellent and I was very pleasantly suprised by the fantastic breakfast. It was not a modern hotel in decor, which I found very refreshing as it had a very authentic feel to it. This hotel added to a great holiday in beautiful Florence.
Nothing I loved everything about it.
Comfortable room and location was convenient especially if you travel be train. It was a 15 minute walk to most of the main attractions.
We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed its location, service and delicate decoration. We got two complimentary mineral water every day and our balcony was cleaned by the hotel during the day. They offer champaign and fresh brewed cappuccino at breakfast.
One thing is the shower. The water is too strong and the tub has only a weak shower curtain that everytime we shower we got water everywhere in bathroom. The other is the sound proof. We were really glad that we got the balcony room that had a great view to the santa marialla novella piazza, but it turned out that at night the bar down there have very loud live music that didnt stop until 2 or 3 oclock in the morning. And we could hear people next door moaning and screaming oh my god for one hour and apparently they were having a wonderful night. For us, its good to know they were really having fun, but it was really annoying for us to sleep in that high frequency melodies.
This is a very good hotel with a high standard of accommodation and attentive staff. It's location is perfect for Florence. I would stay again and recommend it to anyone
Everything! Position, staff, service, rooms, bathroom, delicious breakfast - this special hotel really added to our wonderful experience in Florence. Also great value for money.
Nothing. It was perfect.
Everything. Great location. Great view. Excellent service. Excellent facility. Excellent breakfast. Can't ask for more. On a scale of uno to dychee undici.
Luxurious and large room. The young lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and helped us get a lot out of a very short stay.
We got lost navigating the 2 sets of elevators and lighting in the hallway whilst charming is much too dark.
Location Room and bathroom Breakfast and service
Dozy wifi fi Slow room refreshment Skeptical welcome about our reservation status
amazing and helpful staff, great location close to the train station and major sights. the hotel also has an incredible patio overlooking the city. the staff was super helpful in reserving last minute trips to the uffizi and academy.
Beautiful decorations throughout the hotel, and beautiful breakfast area. The staff was incredibly professional and accommodating. Wonderful location as well. The bathrooms just looked amazing! We particularly liked the hallways leading to the rooms, decorated with the most beautiful decor on the walls and plush carpet on the floors. Also loved the shiny wood-panelled, quaint and very fancy elevators.
We had adjoining rooms for this rental. One of the rooms had a broken air conditioner, broken minibar, and a broken toilet flush. The other room was in perfect working condition.
We luckily got an upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking the piazza. It was the perfect break from all the crowds and the view of the church stunning. It was only a few minutes walk to everything, breakfast, room, and service all top notch.
Location Consideration of staff
Lovely spacious room with balcony overlooking Piazza. Great location and superb breakfast. Close to station and all places of interest.
It was perfect.
Good location Large & clean room.
Noisy at night. (from Piazza St. Maria Novella)
