It was such a historical and beautiful house. I spent most of my time observing and admiring all those antiques from decades. One day I was having tea at the breakfast room, an artist came for a meeting with the owner and discuss about old paintings on the ceiling how they would retouch to keep it well. For me as a designer it was so inspiring......how much people care about old.....I have met so many beautiful people in Sicily inside out. And people at Il Giardini del Barocco was a big part of my experience.
Visiting the hauntingly beautiful terrain of the Val di Noto - Catania, Noto, Ragusa and Modica - last month, was like seeing a deep-seated travel desire bear fruit. I feel both remarkably fortunate and blessed. In spite of the oppressively hot weather - unusual for a Sicilian October - I recollect now of making it to the Noto bus station from Catania in one piece and relatively good humour! The Hotel Flora was bang opposite my eyesight and I instantaneously felt glad to have opted for Il Giardino del Barocco in its place - a last minute decision. "Flora looks fine enough but rather away from the town centre" muttered I as Salvatore, the taxi driver took me safely to Via G. Aurispa 77 on almost immediate alightment from the auto-coach. Il Giardino ... is budget accommodation at its most competitive. My sound travel experience goaded me that making a note of an inadequacy here or an inadequacy there just wouldn't be fair when the pricing happens to be so reasonable. Not that what's offered, offends traveller-sensibility either. The simple double room overlooking the garden, in an extension of what must have been a strikingly noble residence before, certainly delivered with reasonable effectiveness- comfortable bed, decent air-conditioning, an outwardly mirrored wardrobe, a dressing table and a good selection of Mini bar items. Why even the Wi-Fi worked fairly well from the room making a concession or two of course for that infrequent connectivity hiccup! The breakfast served in the former ballroom of the mansion was generously spread out and qualitative, with the ricotta and honey garnering particular endorsement. Giovanni the owner was kind enough to show off his bequeathed residence and this little treat proved welcome. He even arranged to have my blood pressure level checked by his father - a practising physician - and the lovely Giusy ironed a couple of my clothing items without any hesitation. Goodness all around ....
Noto is a real gem of a town, full of interesting things to see and great places to eat and drink. A great base for four nights in Sicily. Giovanni at il giardino is a perfect host and this is a really delightful hotel which is full of charm and character We will definitely come back
Lovely location. Spacious bedrooms. Being attached to a palacial house with a charming garden was an added bonus.
Amazing old house of great interest in itself. Very central location, good accommodation, breakfast and nice quiet garden.
Good comfortable rooms plus location with nice sit out garden.Very good breakfast selection. Staff were very friendly and help-full with only one exception.
Although we were on time for breakfast we were unable to enjoy the excellent lay out as the owner "stood over us" waiting to give us a tour of the house.
The unique place The breakfast The large rooms and the garden
The smell in room like humidity and the poor aircondition but it was only in our room Our friends room was ok
Very quiet. We had a room opening onto the garden- a real haven after a day's sightseeing. Nice place to meet fellow travellers. Great choice of local restaurants with excellent food. Small shop directly opposite the hotel was useful for buying fruit, water etc.
Difficult to walk from the bus stop with luggage; we caught a taxi on the way back and that was fine.
This is a fabulous place to stay- the owner's 18th century house in original condition with all its things- his family was Spanish and grandfather a doctor. There is a good garden and after breakfast he escorted guests on a tour of the house- forget the tarted up places this is real!! Our room was a converted entrance way to the house
Nothing really- the opportunity to stay in an authentic house like that is wonderful
This B&B was once a small hospital run by the current owner's grandfather. He lives on the premises and took the time to show us his own apartment, which was filled with memorabilia from an earlier time. The breakfast is served in a delightful garden, and includes a much wider variety than we found elsewhere in Sicily. Very pleasant. Our group had planned to leave for Syracusa on a Sunday, but there were very few buses running on Sundays. The owner took the time to arrange for taxis to take us on to Syracusa.
Wifi was sometimes a bit sketchy.
Quiet situation with lemon garden, close to city center, nice guidance through manor house
No visible sign on the street (only plate on the house, which you cannot see when driving along the street)
Garden rooms. Giovanni's hospitality and very pleasant staff.Quality of breakfast was good and lovely to eat out in the garden under the lemon trees Loved the tour of Giovanni's house. In a great position for a two minute walk into town.
They seem to like a lot of sweet stuff in Italy for breakfast and we would have liked more savoury.
Our host was fantastic, his staff were fantastic, the breakfast in the garden was fantastic - I think that you get the gist. Our room looked on to the garden and it was a very peaceful place to chill out for a couple of days. I was travelling with my 68 year old mother who also thought that it was ... fantastic. We needed to go to the train station on the day that we were leaving (about a 15 minute walk) and instead of waving good bye our host arranged for another couple staying there to drop us off with all of our luggage. What a wonderful, caring host.
Rooms, garden, staff, Heritage House tour. pity we couldn't stay long enough,
Parking was diffcult, especially as we were in a 8 seater Van. But we understand it is the nature of the city's streets due to the antiquity.
The breakfast was wonderful!! The owner went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
Rooms near the street could be noisy.
Wonderful garden for having breakfast, very convenient location and also a free tour of the local family house.
Giovanni is the best possible host. Gentle, helpful and not invasive. The location is just perfect.
Beautiful garden oasis in the middle of antique town. Breakfast was ample and generous, served in the garden. Friendly and helpful host/owner, always around and willing to offer advise and suggestions for things to do and help plan your day. Nothing is too much trouble.
Room a bit small, albeit the only one with twin beds, as we requested, otherwise other rooms were generous in size.
Giardino Del Barocco is indeed very beautiful and well located B&B in Noto. Best place to stay and explore the area of southeast Sicily, very well connected. The B&B is clean, comfortable with great staff. Giovanni is fantastic host, together with his staff we will make sure that you spend your time at the B&B the most conformable way. Every morning he talks to you about your plan and tries to give you lots of suggestion and tips on what to do and where to go in the area. The beautiful garden of the B&B is the best part of it to relax and have great breakfast (all home made and extremely rich & colorful) there. I will surely stay again at Il Giardino del Braocco again if I come back to the area. highly recommended.
Perhaps is not the most economical place to stay in Noto!
The room was part of a historical building, the host gave us a tour of the beautiful house. Nice garden where the good Breakfast was served. Very good location for visiting the old city.
Wi fi worked in the garden, not in our room
Great palazzo centrally located. Comfortable room opening onto a beautiful garden. Very friendly and helpful host.
The house in which the B&B is located, its history, the mini-museum. Wonderful garden. Helpful and warm owner, Giovanni. Very close to Corso Vittorio Emanuelle, where everything is.
Beautiful small palazzo in Noto, a Baroque jewel. Giovanni gave us a warm welcome and a tour of the historic house, also lots of good advice. Wonderful breakfast! The garden is idyllic. Luxury at a good price.
We loved this place. Noto is terrific and Il Giardino del Barocco is well-situated near the centre. Our room was comfortable and clean and opened onto a very pretty garden. The staff were charming and the host helpful and justifiably proud of the city and his amazing home. Many thanks.
We liked it all!
Our room looked on to a charming hidden garden of lemon trees . The hotel forms part of an 18 c palazzo .
