Casale Giancesare is a 19th century building, surrounded by large grounds with lounge chairs and swimming pool. It is just one mile from Paestum and offers views of Capri Island.
Score from 62 reviews Wonderful
A charming hotel very close to the ruins, we could walk to the entrance and stroll on the walkway to photograph the ruins at several times during the day. The hotel made our two night stay in Paestum perfect.
A very well maintained property with pleasant, friendly staff. The decor is old fashioned but very comfortable. Our room on the first (US second) floor was spacious and quiet. It even had its own solarium. The grounds are very well kept. Breakfast was ample and the room where it is served is attractive, with views onto the garden. We drove a few minutes to the nearby Podere Rega. A culinary high point of our entire trip. Outside guests MUST book in advance. For antipasti and dessert with a bottle of wine we paid a fixed price of 35€ each. Innovative, stylish and authentic
Facility was very clean, and nicely updated, furnished.
Far from the train station. Needed to take a cab back to the station to return to Rome.
Everything!. We would stay longer next time. The location was perfect for exploring the archeological site at Paestum- we walked up the road to it and could see the ruins from our room. The setting, ambiance and staff were fabulous and couldn't be more helpful.
Huge rooms, very friendly, helpful staff, fabulous property. Excellent experience, wouldn't hesitate to return. Have a walk around the property.
Beds were a bit hard, and walking to Paestrum, while possible, was a bit dangerous with the traffic.
Our room was old-fashioned, but scrupulously clean and comfortable, with an excellent bed. The hotel is right beside the Paestum archaeological site, which could be seen from our (top floor) window. The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was OK, although largely cakes rather than normal breakfast food.
The station is nearly a mile from the hotel and there were no facilities for getting to the hotel by any means other than walking. Directions were provided by the information office at the station and off we trudged, despite requests for help by telephone to the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel is not operating because (we were told) the chef is unwell, long term, apparently (October 2014), so you have to walk back to the village for dinner (10 minutes brisk walking to the nearest café).
Location near ruins, good service, air conditioning, good breakfast, nice room.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet included eggs, fruit, pastries. No restaurant on premises, but the receptionist recommended two within a short walk. We had a delightful stay! 5 minutes walk to museum and entrance to the ruins.
it wasn't a problem for us, but be aware that there is no elevator.
very good location, calm with safe parking and nice garden;great rooms and clean
they closed their restaurant 2 years ago and this remains on their site.So you have to go out and walk for 500 m or more(their is a great choice,no problems)
Less than five minutes walk from the ruins, set in beautiful gardens, Il Granaio is a great place to spend a couple of days. There is lots of choice for eating nearby. The staff is pleasant and friendly.
Charming staff, beautiful building with lovely sitting rooms for guests. Located right near the temples. Would recommend highly.
My husband and I really had a very good experience, the staff was always helpful even before our arrival. They did not hesitate to call the turism office or train information to confirm the schefules. Also, upon our arrival we had a very pleasant stay, I was sorry it was aonly for one night.
History People Space
Beautifully renovated historic building set in gorgeous gardens. Short stroll to the ruins of Paestum, bars and restaurants. Free, fast wifi. Our room was clean and well equipped.
The air-conditioning didn't quite cope with the searing heat!
Location, rooms furnished with antiques
Difficult to walk along road with no pavements to get to historical site .
Where to start?! Charming staff, spacious rooms, great sitting areas, perfect breakfast, fast wifi...like staying in a private house but with no lack of privacy or space. It seemed busy when were stayed but we barely saw any of the other guests. Almost perfect. Walking distance to the town and the ruins at Paestum, lots of restaurants and very atmospheric.
The property is near perfection. The only (manageble) drawback is the road into town, which is quite busy and not easy to walk along.
Beautiful landscaping Interesting art Lovely dining room
I didn't want to leave
Delightful place- pretty building and garden, easy walk to the temples, safe off street parking. Nothing lacking.
Location in relation to the Paestum ruins, charm, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, good, spacious and clean rooms and a satisfying breakfast.
No criticism at all
Fabulous location, beautiful hotel with delightful garden, charming and helpful staff, very secure parking and excellent free WiFi. Highly recommended.
While the hotel restaurant was closed for the summer we found a wonderful restaurant several steps away called ristorante Tavernelle Highly recommended.
It was a little longer walk to the ruins then I thought but the hotel was lovely
Everything! Our hosts were gracious and helpful, and could not do enough for us. The breakfast was excellent. Our room was comfortable, the grounds were beautiful. The location near Paestum made this B&B very attractive to us. Help getting to and from the train was also appreciated.
Nothing that we didn't like. Would like to come back!
Stayed here just one night to visit the ruins. Lovely room, helpful and friendly staff, lovely gardens and public rooms. Breakfast was outstanding. Staff had great restaurant recommendations. Wish we could have stayed longer.
This hotel is a gem and thoroughly deserves the high rating on booking.com. It is located only a short walk from the ruins of Paestum. There are several good restaurants nearby including the excellent Il Gallo e la Perla. The staff are very helpful. You can't go wrong if you want to stay overnight having made the trip to Paestum.
The breakfast is pretty basic. But that is a small criticism given the other considerable strengths of this hotel.
Location, gardens, staff, breakfast, ambience, beautiful room and bathroom
