The beds are too hard and narrow (single). The catina in the Via Cassavecchio below was open EVERY night we were there (sat - wed) till 2am with people talking and laughing LOUDLY till closing. The breakfast was traditional Italian pastries so if it's not your thing, you will have to request, but the coffee was the best in town. Get a taxi from the train station - too far to drag luggage on cobblestones. If you like sleeping in, forget it - the church diagonally across the road starts bells at 8am. No air conditioning or ceiling fan but thick old walls insulate moderately.
I'll Guiscardo is a BEAUTIFUL old but well maintained building and interior is decorated very nicely. Premises is very secure. The owners Paolo and Hugo are very pleasant and helpful. The location is in the old part of Salerno so looking out the window is picturesque to a traditional narrow street. Good location for access to shops, eateries, seaside. Bathroom was clean. Got access to the fridge in the kitchen on request.
