Hotel Il PalazzoVia San Francesco, 8, 06081 Assisi (Show map) Excellent, Score from 186 reviewsSituated in the heart of Assisi, Il Palazzo is a charming hotel halfway between the Basilica of Saint Francis and Piazza del Comune square. Claudia, the person at the front desk, was precious. We also liked the common area on the first floor. The location was perfect. Our bed was a bit hard, but I hesitate to complain since we would do it again.

Its location, its historic atmosphere, its management, comfortable sitting room, comfortable bed and hot shower and pleasant staff. There were no shelves or chest of drawers in the bedroom ( a hanging shoe storage is not a good substitute) and no shelf by the basis for pots and hair brush etc.

We had a very warm welcome on arrival and this hospitality continued throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious and peaceful. We were able to explore the town with ease during the intense heat and the hotel provided a fantastic oasis of calm. We felt over all the hotel was very good value.

free wifi, location, charming public rooms The room was not well maintained (shower head attachment missing so the hose just hung from the wall, mini bar used as bedside table was fine but there was only electrical outlet for either the minibar or the bedside light--had to choose which you wanted plugged in, half roll of toilet paper never replaced for the two nights), it was not attractively outfitted and was only good for sleeping. The hotel's key arrangement at night was bizarre--no staff after 9 pm and keys are just left on the reception desk with name cards (too insecure for anyone with valuables in the room).

when I travel to Italy I want to know immediately when I open my eyes in the morning I am in Italy. Hotel was perfect. Huge ancient beams in the ceiling, tile floor. glorious view over the Umbrian valley when shuttered window was opened. 4 poster bed with hemstitched bed hangings. antique furniture and a funky multipetaled lamp on the desk. modern Italian bathroom. Wonderful coffee in the morning. Nice breakfast choices in a bfk room that was a charming mix of Italian modern and traditional. owner/ operator very gracious and on site. Location is very good, elevator very nice for suitcases, we usually walked up to our second floor room. reading room with computer access (if your're not unplugged from the net ) there wasn't anything I disliked

The nice couple who runs the hotel, very helpful and friendly. We took an upgrade and slept in a wonderful room under the fresco's. Otherwise the rooms are quite small. But it is a real pallazzo. standard rooms are small

Our host was so gracious, warm and welcoming. He made us feel at home and took care of all our questions and needs. Also, the million dollar view from our room over the town and countryside. Very charming hotel. Television had no English news stations.

The nicest hotel in our European trip! We were given a room at the top floor that offered an excellent view of Assisi. The hotel manager was very friendly and funny. The room was exquisitely decorated with antique furniture and has a romantic feel to it. Highly recommended!

Have you ever dreamed about sleeping in a museum? It is undescribable feeling, when one lives in a building which is half-a-millenium old, under ceilings painted centuries ago, among ancient furniture, pictures and other tasteful details. In a cosy and beautiful reading room there's a wall just carved in rock of a hillside, on which Assisi is built. It was like a trip in time :-) And our suite was so romantic that having been married for 13 years, we felt like it was a honeymoon again :-)

Hotel Il Palazzo was the highlight of our trip. Peaceful, and certainly the best value for money. Great location, also very quiet. Absolutely nothing we didn't like about the place or the friendly staff.

We were very happy and made feel very welcome at this hotel. It's strengths are it's location and the friendly, cooperative staff. An excellent hotel for xxx rating, perhaps it's rating should be higher.

A small, very friendly place. The building is very historically striking inside. I got a very budget-priced room, and it was clean and comfortable, with an impressive view of the expanse outside of Assisi. On this trip, I'm finding the small family hotels to be dramatically more personable than the big, corporate hotels.

The hotel staff were exceptional in their attentive service. They spoke either Italian or english to me and allowed me to practice my Italian. Both husband and wife gave information on the best places to visit with little children. They gave me the freedom to come and go providing an after hour key. The room was spotless, and with a beautiful view. A large bathroom was well appreciated after long days of sightseeing. Beds were huge as well. Internet was provided free of charge. Breakfast was provided and a large selection of food provided. We were able to leave our bags in the foyer at the hotel until 2pm on the day of check out. Instructions how to get around with highlighted parts on the map. A great help thank you. A beautiful stay. Tanti graze Rosina, Mia and Evan. Nothing to complain. Parking was at a parking station a little walk away, would not have being a problem as the hotel is accessible by car to drop off and pick up bags. The day we arrived it was a peace match and all streets were closed so we didn't have access. This is expected at such a busy place like Assisi.

The service from the manager and restaurant staff was outstanding..above and beyond our expectations. Cloudia (manager) was very helpful, we were referred to the most delightful and outstanding restaurant for a memorable dinner (all booked by her), a taxi was at our beck and call....the rooms were basic but the service more than compensated for lack of luxury!

The location is perfect. The owner and his wife makes you feel at home away from home. They were ready to help and make our stay at their hotel as comfortable as can be. The room and facilities were to perfection. The Buffet breakfast was good.

The staff very friendly and helpful. It is a very quaint place. The shower in the room excellent. It is in the center of everything in Assisi. The hotel is lovely but the area is not well marked. Parking is difficult. You have to be able to walk a distance to honestly stay at this hotel. There should be something to hold the two twin mattresses together on the double bed.
