Excellent location with free parking. 10 minute walk to Volterra city centre. We had a kitchen with gas stove and fridge, an espresso coffee maker and powder and bread rolls were provided. The surrounding views were pretty. Room had nice architectural elements. WLAN available. Bathroom very small, water pressure rather low.

The location is wonderful for who travels with car (it is far away from train station). Locating outside the center of volterra under an ancient gate, it is easy to reach the center or the wonderfuel country landescapes by walking. The garden is exquisite, just like a mini paradise, maybe even better because it is a paradise with Wifi:) The onwer Luciana is very kind and very helpful.

We really loved the property and buildings and our room layout! The Rooms were high quality throughout, everything was great. The Architecture of the rooms, vaulted ceilings of stone, it was all so awesome. The bathrooms were very nice, and big too! The Proprietor was very friendly, and showed us the room, a few details about using the range in the kitchen... The parking lot was big. The walk to town was short, about 12 minutes, and a nice peaceful beginning and end to our visit to town. We used the table outside our apartment to enjoy some wine before retiring to bed. The lanscape around the outside was just beautiful! This place was far nicer than the price point suggested. I can't think of anything I didn't like here!

Luciana was gorgeous. Friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the edge of town - only a short walk to the old township, but quiet with beautiful rural and orchard views. The old home is beatifully renovated into different apartments. We loved our outdoor patio looking onto the olives and figs. We felt very comfortable and 'at home' here and it was very good value for money too. Highly recommend it. If you stay, make sure you walk down the road about 15 mins to the amazing Etruscan burial tombs - wonderfully lit and free! Sadly we had some rain during our stay and it would have been good to have more electric light inside - and a couch to sit on together

It has a quaint setting with a quiet farmhouse feel. It was a little challenging to find. Clearer directions might help. The credit card machine did not accept Visa (I tried 2 cards), but the cost was low enough to pay in cash.

The peaceful location and view. The garden area and outside patio was great for outdoor eating. The proprietors were very helpful and friendly giving us fresh tomatoes from their garden and taking us in their car in the early morning to catch the bus. We regretted that we could not speak Italian as we would have liked to get to know them better. We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend the hotel to anyone who is visiting Volterra. The walk up hill to the town of about 1 kilometer.

Really cozy stay. The host was very friendly and felt more like a family. We only stayed one night as we traveled through but we fell in love with the place. Nice views and the center garden/eating area is very cozy. They had a small but sufficient barbecue area where we could grill some nice food. For anyone going there by car: The maps show us it's a straight street until the B&B but it's very curvy but just keep going (far) on the street and you will find it.

Il Portone is very comfortable and inviting. Situated outside of town, there is a private courtyard with tables and chairs to enjoy the out of doors. The room was very comfortable, clean, and inviting. The staff was very kind and welcoming and gave suggestions for places to eat in town. Volterra is a fantastic town and we would have liked to stay longer. The one problem we found was the toilet in our room took a long time to refill and was very noisy. While this was not a big problem for the two of us, but for more than two people this could have been a problem. It ran most of the night, but thankfully we were able to sleep through it.

The location just outside the walls of Volterra was convenient for a car traveler, and the walk into town was short. The comfortable apartment with kitchen provided a nice break from eating out every meal. We were very thankful for the availability of the washing machine! We never did learn the name of our kind hosts. The kitchen could have been a little better equipped, especially with things a traveler might not have, such as dish washing soap, a sponge or dishcloth, and basic condiments such as salt and pepper.

Wonderful location (if you have a car) and friendly owners. Buildings and garden are lovely and peaceful. Easy walk into the town. No tea towels, dish soap, cloths or dish scrubber in kitchenette which made keeping tidy difficult.

We loved the setting with a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside. It took less than 10 minutes to walk to the walled part of Volterra. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The property is immaculate. The apartments are in an old building that has been retrofitted making for some quirky things, but it all adds to the charm.

Dommage.
